Exclusive: In response to the devastating Covid wave currently ravaging India, Aditya Chopra, Chairman and MD of leading Bollywood production house Yash Raj, is launching the Yash Chopra Saathi Initiative, which aims to provide financial support to thousands of film industry workers.
As part of the initiative, the Yash Raj foundation will oversee “direct benefit transfers” of Rs 5000 (equivalent to $68) to women and senior citizens in the industry as well as distribute “ration kits” to workers for a family of four for one month through their Ngo partners Youth Feed India.
The support can be applied for through a website set up for applications. ‘Saathi’ means friend/partner/shadow.
