Learn more- A couple of siblings move to a new house trying to start a new chapter in their lives, but the neighbourhood is a terrible warning for them; their home could be haunted.
We meet Saoirse and Ezekiel, siblings looking to start a brand new life. They move to a huge old house that seems to have enough space for both of them and then some. Saoirse and Ezekiel are both black, and they wonder if that could be a problem in their new neighbourhood where there are mostly white people. Just arriving, they meet their next-door neighbour Michael. He tells them about the old woman named Greta who lived at the house and died there not long ago. Greta used to say the strange word doogie hoogie.
Michael is in a wheelchair and immediately comes across as rude, assuming that the siblings sell drugs or that they were criminals waiting in front of the house. The siblings pay no mind and rest in their new beds. At night we can see one of the rooms lit with a dreadful red light. The following day the siblings meet another neighbour, Sinead, a strange, lonely woman. They share breakfast and talk about Greta, who used to live there. Sinead recommends salt to push the spirits away from the house. Outside the house, Michael warns Ezekiel not to trust Sinead.
Two weeks Ezekiel finds Michael passed out in his wheelchair while he was sprinkling Black Cohosh on his yard. Michael ends up being okay, and Ezekiel asks for some black cohosh to sprinkle in his house; he feels there's something off with it. Ezekiel hears strange sounds and her sister's screams at night, but he's too frightened to get out of bed. The following day the siblings have breakfast, and Saoirse finds black cohosh everywhere; she gets mad at the mess and Ezekiel's bizarre superstitions.
At night Saoirse and Sinead meet to chat. Saoirse complains about her brother's behaviour, and Sinead suggests talking with some experts so that Ezekiel can stop worrying about the Greta's death. Later Saoirse walks inside the Red Room while sleepwalking. Ezekiel notices a scar on his sister's arm in the morning, but Saoirse dismisses it as nothing. Ezekiel leaves the house and finds Michael on the ground; he calls for an ambulance to save Michael; he tells Ezekiel that an evil spirit visited him and that he needs to move away from the house. Saoirse says she will not move no matter what.
After more strange events at night, Saoirse organizes a Halloween party, and she has recruited the help of a Ghost Hunter, a Tarot reader and a Psychic to dispel Ezekiel's fears. But things don't go according to the plan; the psychic refuses to enter the house, the ghost hunter detects a ghost signal, and the tarot reader gets such a bad read that she's afraid to say it out loud. The ghost hunter suggests to Ezekiel to talk to a Wiccan. He makes an appointment.
Michael talks to Ezekiel about how Greta was a descendant of the first colonizers who took an African witch as a slave and lived in California. Ezekiel decides to leave the house soon; he can't take it anymore. The Wiccan comes to the house and a catholic priest, but they can't do anything. More scares appear every day on Saoirse's body, but she refuses to accept something weird is happening. The siblings say their goodbyes. Ezekiel will leave the house the following morning.
That night a home invasion occurs, but not from criminals but spirits, Ezekiel tries to save his sister, but it's too later for her and him as well. In the end, it is revealed that everything was a ritual to transfer souls inside Saoirse's and Ezekiel's bodies. The wold African witch is now inside Saoirse, and Michael's is inside Ezekiel; they are greeted by their grandchild Sinead as they start their new lives.
