Many of the episode titles are taken from T. S. Eliot poems, especially the Waste Land.
The empire's name (Helium Imperium) is fitting since in ancient Greek helios mean sun (note that Coppernicus said that planets are heliocentric since they revolve around the sun). Imperium is the Latin word for empire (Imperium Romanum). The Helium Imperium has Greco-Roman influences in it's architecture and the sun is featured heavily and shines brightly in the daytime scenes. It also works as a dichotomy since the Coriel Tauvi and the elves worship the moon.
The differences between the Coriel Tauvi and the Helium Imperium is reminiscent to the differences between the Celts and Romans. The Coriel Tauvi live in the nature and forests (essential in Celtic culture) whereas the Helium Imperium depicts a heavy urbanization, road infrastructure, and military ranks and organization.
