Another one about an epidemic, this time caused by some substances (metals) spread by the jet fuel of airplanes. Anne Heche is simply constipated throughout
the whole movie. The acting of the other actors is forced, nobody really believes in his role, in their lines. No stars, no nothing!
When I saw this movie on Netflix, I decided to watch it just because it takes place in Spokane (close to where I grew up). With a pretty dismal rating, I wasn't expecting much going into it. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
The production value, acting, filming, sound, etc. are all well done. Unlike many Netflix instant-play movies, it seemed this one was made by a competent production company that actually invested into the quality of the film.
Although the story isn't anything extraordinary, and can be very slow at times, it can be credited with being somewhat original and provides a few fresh twists. If you aren't expecting a Hollywood blockbuster, and can manage to sit through a movie without A-list actors, you may actually find the 90 minutes of Toxic Skies enjoyable.
The only thing I am really disappointed with is the location of Spokane plays no role besides the movie needing to take place somewhere. It is ironic the one thing that hooked me into watching the movie ended up being irrelevant.

Watchable movie. Points us in the right direction to a lot of Gov. secrecy. This movie is a bit old but we should know by now if we have woke up and look around that some movies are propaganda and some are trying to wake us up. Anne is good. Don't know James. Needs to lose some weight. The movie is a bit slow and Nurse goodbody plays the don't show emotions well. I wonder how the hero gets in the car when it shows Anne always locks the door with the remote. Another blooper. Another gotcha is only one town is affected by airplane vapor, hmm very selective spraying I guess. To Author: Uriah43 from Amarillo, Texas. Do some research before making conspiracy theory comments.

A deadly virus has struck Spokane, Washington, and "Dr. Tess Martin" (Anne Heche) is trying to find a cure. But before she can do that she needs to isolate the virus and figure out why all known antibiotics don't even slow it down. Meanwhile, a person named "Jack" (James Tupper) is trying to convince her that there is a conspiracy going on and wants her to expose the people responsible. In the meantime, patients are beginning to die and it appears that the Mayor, the Army and a CEO of a leading drug pharmaceutical are all behind the spread of the disease. At any rate, rather than reveal the rest of the story, I will just say that this is a nice little conspiracy film which should keep most viewers interested from start to finish. Anne Heche is quite cute and gives a good performance as the doctor who is both competent and caring. Likewise, James Tupper does quite well as the conspiracy fanatic who just won't give up. And although the story is a little far-fetched at times, I still enjoyed it and think that most fans of this genre will appreciate it too.
Sure, when I sat down to watch the 2008 movie "Toxic Skies", I must admit that my level of expectation wasn't exactly sky high. I mean, the movie's synopsis didn't really sell the movie all that well, and the movie's cast wasn't exactly something that had me thrilled either. But I hadn't seen the movie, much less heard about it, so of course I sat down to watch it now in 2020, as I had the chance to do so.
And I will say that "Toxic Skies" was not the worst of movies I have seen. However, it wasn't really an outstanding or particularly memorable movie experience either. The movie was watchable, and that was about it.
Story-wise then "Toxic Skies" felt a bit shallow and pointless at times, especially since writers Andrew C. Erin and Kyle Hart seemed to be stumbling about in the dark at times. The movie had its ups and downs, that was for sure, so there were moments of boredom in the movie as well.
As for special effects, well let's just say that you shouldn't expect to be blown away. However, it should be said though, that the movie wasn't really depending on having an overwhelming array of special effects to work its magic. The few effects that were there served their purpose, and that was it.
"Toxic Skies" does not bolster itself on having an overly impressive cast list. Anne Heche was the most prominent name in the movie, and even this wasn't her finest moment. Sure, she made it watchable, but she has much better movies to her name.
I suppose if you think "Outbreak" but without the interesting and intense storyline and impressive cast, then you have "Toxic Skies".
I was somewhat not properly entertained by what I witnessed on the screen as I sat through "Toxic Skies". And that results in a rating of four out of ten stars from me.
