AGC Intl., the international sales arm of Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios, is launching sales in Cannes on director Matt Tyrnauer’s documentary feature “Nobu,” about world-renowned chef and hotelier Nobu Matsuhisa.

Matsuhisa’s path to success was strewn with obstacles, adversity and tragedy. His story will be uncovered by Tyrnauer, the former editor-at-large at Vanity Fair, with exclusive access to the chef, his global empire, and his key collaborators, friends and famous fans.

The Croatian limited series The Last Socialist Artifact (original title: Područje bez signala) won the top prize for best drama series at the Hearts of Sarajevo TV Awards, the small-screen section of the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival.

The TV awards honor excellence among television productions from the region.

In addition to the top prize of best drama series, The Last Socialist Artifact scooped the best actor and actress honors for stars Izudin Bajrović and Lana Barić, as well as the best director nod for Dalibor Matanić and best screenplay honors for writers Hana Jušić, Jelena Paljan and Milan F. Živković.

Croatian miniseries “The Last Socialist Artefact” was the big winner at the Heart of Sarajevo TV Awards, which were handed out Sunday night during the Sarajevo Film Festival.

The six-part limited series, which is adapted from Robert Perišić’s novel “No-Signal Area,” tells the story of two urban transplants who take over an abandoned turbine factory for a mysterious client in a remote, economically depressed Balkan town. The show took home awards in five of the eight categories for drama series, including best series, best leading actor for Izudin Bajrović and best director for Dalibo Matanić.

Created by Ankica Jurić Tilić and Dalibor Matanić, “The Last Socialist Artefact” is produced by Tilić for Zagreb-based Kinorama, in co-production with Serbia’s Sense Production, Slovenia’s Perfo Production and Finland’s Citizen Jane. The series was part of the official selection at Series Mania last year, where it won the top prize in the International Panorama competition.

Ally Sheedy and Matthew Morrison have joined the second season of “Smilf” in guest starring roles, Variety has learned exclusively.

Morrison will play the role of Mitch, the nice guy ex-boyfriend of Bridgette (Frankie Shaw) from high school. Despite being polar opposites, the two still have feelings for each other. Sheedy will play Fiona, a friend of Bridge and Rafi (Miguel Gomez). Fiona is a no-nonsense midwife, a realist, down to earth and practical.

Morrison is best known for starring as Will Schuester on “Glee,” the Fox musical comedy that ran for six seasons. Morrison earned an Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations during his time on the series. According to a new report from soapcentral.com and other news outlets, Monica Quartermaine portrayer Leslie Charleson recently suffered a pretty bad leg injury while walking her dog. The injury is so bad that she actually has to step down from her General Hospital role temporarily! The official General Hospital Twitter page ran a tweet about this back on April 17, 2018. They wrote, "@lesliecharleson's beloved dog, Riley Rose, was a little too eager for her morning walk and tripped Leslie - injuring her leg. Michael Sheen and Maria Bello's strained marriage is put to the ultimate test in Beautiful Boy.

Anchor Bay turns up the drama with the release of the 2010 film Beautiful Boy, starring Maria Bello (Grown Ups) and Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon), on Oct. 11 on Blu-ray and DVD. The discs will have the list prices of $29.99 and $26.98, respectively.

The movie focuses on the unhappily married Bill (Sheen) and Kate (Bello) and how, on the verge of separation, their already-strained marriage is tested when they learn that their 18-year-old son committed a mass shooting at his college and then took his own life. Meat Loaf confers with Ally Sheedy in Citizen Jane.

Green Apple Entertainment will release the crime mystery TV film Citizen Jane, starring Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club) and Sean Patrick Flanery (Deadly Impact), on DVD on Aug. 23 for a list price of $26.98.

Based on a true story that dominated the headlines in the 1990s and the subsequent best-selling book by James Dalessandro, the movie tells the tale of Jane Alexander (Sheedy), who lives an enviable life in San Francisco with the handsome and slyly charismatic Tom O’Donnell (Flanery). But Jane’s idyllic life is shattered when her beloved, elderly aunt is brutally murdered.

Embarking on an epic, 13-year journey to track down the killer, Jane stuns authorities with her shrewdness and intelligence and ultimately brings her aunt’s killer to justice. In the process, she starts up the activist group Citizens Against Homicide, which supports families looking for justice.

This week marks the end of most of our summer television coverage until news starts to trickle out for next summer. While some shows like Project Runway began in August, they run through to November and can't really be considered a "Summer" show, so with True Blood ending tonight for the season, we can put a nice little bow on the summer of 2009, call it a success, and move on to more pressing matters, like Dr. Gregory House, or Echo the Doll, and the new candy networks are giving us for the 2009 season.

The CW's Vampire Diaries premiered to huge numbers (for the CW) on Thursday night. 4.8 million people watched the show, which is the CW's highest series premiere audience to date. Ian Somerhalder, who plays vampire Damon, said at San Diego Comic-Con that Vampire Diaries "might be an edgier version of Twilight". We will certainly have to wait and see if that happens.

Marketed as "the true story of a devious killer and the average woman who did what the police couldn't do", the Hallmark Channel Original Movie was originally set to premier August 5.

Accompanying the former 80s 'It girl' of Brat Pack fame are acting talents Sean Patrick Flanery, Nia Peeples and Meat Loaf.
