Elena (Elika Portnoy) and Carlos (Carlos Leon) are an immigrant couple whose visas soon expire. Their best friends, an American couple, Betty (Ashley Wolfe) and Mike (McCaleb Burnett), agree to marry them in order for their friends to obtain U.S. citizenship.
The cast is strong and engaging. The tension and undertone of their awkward arrangement weave a myriad of compromising and laughable situations. The principals carry the plot and each other skillfully. Happy-go-lucky Carlos (Leon) adds a nice touch of comedic relief and Betty (Wolfe) is vibrant as she struggles and questions the growing affection between Mike and Elena.
Sparks fly and trouble ensues the four as an INS Agent (Sommers) is in host pursuit of their faux marriage. All the while, Elena remains endearing in the midst of their debacle and Mike is credible in his confusion.
As immigration is a current topic, the sexy cast and premise combine with the Miami locale to create an inviting ambiance and relevant plot. Overall, David Burton Morris's "Immigration Tango" is an entertaining, easy-on-the-eyes romantic comedy of charming simplicity.
