- Mrs. Marshall, a widow of some means, has one child, a 6-year-old boy. She is one of those women who, in keeping the house clean, overdoes it to the extent that it is a mania. Little Joe cannot play with his toys for fear he will untidy the room. Someone gives him a job, but there's no room in the house for it. Joe and his puppy go into the barn to comfort each other. Joe falls asleep and dreams of a home where little boys are allowed to have pets and play with toys to their hearts' content. All children are having a great time and he soon awakens to find that it was only a dream. He writes a note to his mother and tells her that he is going to find his "dream home"--which he does, in the shape of a little cottage near his home. The children invite him in to play and their mother shows great tenderness to the little chap, who feels at home at once. The children's father comes home and finds Joe having a good time. Joe refuses to disclose himself, but tells them this is to be his home and they his parents. Meanwhile, Mrs. Marshall finds her son's note and becomes alarmed. The children's father 'phones to the police station that a stray boy is at his home. Soon after the message is received, Mrs. Marshall enters and the police tell her that she could be able to find her son at the address they have given her. Mrs. Marshall arrives at the dream home but Joe has nothing to do with her. Finally, after some persuasion Joe is won over and says he will go home, but only on the condition that he be allowed to play as the other children. Mrs. Marshall, realizing that she has been thoughtful about her little fellow's pleasures, agrees. Joe tells his mother that his home is now a "dream home" and he will never want to leave it anymore.—Moving Picture World synopsis
