Scarlett Johansson is much more than a Tony-winning and Academy Award-nominated actress. She’s also a loving mom to two beautiful children.
Scarlett is beloved for her performance as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but she’s also appeared in many classic films, including Lost in Translation, Her, and Marriage Story.
Scarlett usually keeps her personal life as private as she can, but she has opened up about a few relationships over the years. She’s been married to Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost since 2020, and she’s appeared alongside him on the sketch show.

Maya Hawke says in some cases, the cast’s social media following plays a huge role in whether or not a film will be made.
“I don’t care about Instagram. Instagram sucks. Right, well just so you know, if you have over this many followers you can get the movie funded,” Hawke said on a recent episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. “It’s a really confusing line to walk.”
Hawke said she knows several “smart directors” who’ve encountered producers that demand a benchmark number of Instagram followers from their cast before moving forward with a project.
“I’m talking about deleting my Instagram and [some directors are] like, ‘Just so you know when I’m casting a movie with some producers, they hand me a sheet with the amount of collective followers I have to get from the cast,'” Hawke recalled. “‘So if you delete your Instagram and I lose those followers,...

Maya Hawke is giving insight into a possible stipulation for actors when auditioning for roles and looking back on the harsh criticism she once received from a producer.
While sitting down for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Stranger Things star reflected on how “the line between actor and celebrity has gotten extremely blurry” in the age of social media and that some producers may cast someone based on their follower count.
“What I always wanted to be is an actor where the work is what the draw is, not the personhood. But the industry keeps changing, and you have to change with it and understand that all of these things are getting blurred,” she explained.
Though she noted that there are “wonderful, incredible actors” she admires and “whose personalities we all know very well,” many are left to just figure “out the footing in these changing times of social...

Maya Hawke appeared on the latest episode of “Happy Sad Confused” and says a famous Hollywood talent once called her out for leaving her mouth open too much during takes. The “Stranger Things” favorite was advised that she would look prettier with our mouth shut.
“A director told me — actually, I think it was a producer, but they were in cahoots — told me I looked prettier with my mouth closed and that I should close my mouth after I speak more often,” Hawke revealed. “I do often let my mouth hang open depending on what character I’m playing, because I feel like jaw tension and mouth tension is so important to express what kind of person you are.”
“Where you leave that, I think, is really important,” she continued. “And I was really upset about being told that I should close my mouth more to look prettier, because I...

Tilda Swinton got political as she accepted Berlin Film Festival’s Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement at its opening ceremony on Thursday night, saying “the inhumane is being perpetrated on our watch.”
In a poetic speech, the Oscar winner lauded the festival as “a borderless realm with no policy of exclusion, persecution or deportation.” The “great independent state of cinema,” she added, is “innately inclusive — immune to efforts of occupation, colonization, takeover, ownership or the development of riviera property.”
She then acknowledged that “state-perpetrated and internationally-enabled mass murder is currently actively terrorizing more than one part of our world,” though she didn’t go into specifics.
“These are facts. They need to be faced,” Swinton continued. “So for the sake of clarity, let’s name it. The inhumane is being perpetrated on our watch. I’m here to name it without hesitation or doubt in my mind and to lend...

Wes Anderson has always managed to conjure up so much joy and wonder in his films, from his early days to his most recent work. There’s always an element of childish imagination and wonder to his films that always helps you fall in love with the characters and the worlds. Beneath that style, however, has always been a maturity to his storytelling, a sense of heartache and subtle sadness that lingers through the colourful worlds. Asteroid City is like so much of Anderson’s previous work, it has the joy and wonder, it has the wonderful colour pallet and style we’ve come to expect and perhaps has deeper meanings and messages than in any of his previous work.

Focus Features has worked with filmmaker Wes Anderson on Asteroid City and Moonrise Kingdom, a collaboration turned out very well for them. As Variety notes, Asteroid City (pictured above) “earned an impressive (for an arthouse film) $53.8 million at the box office,” while Moonrise Kingdom “grossed $68.3 million and was nominated for an Oscar for its screenplay.” So, it’s a good move that Focus and Anderson are getting back in business with each other, as Focus has just acquired the worldwide distribution rights to Anderson’s latest film, The Phoenician Scheme.
Anderson directed The Phoenician Scheme from a screenplay he wrote with Roman Coppola, who previously worked on the scripts for Anderson’s films The Darjeeling Limited, Moonrise Kingdom, Isle of Dogs, The French Dispatch, and Asteroid City. Filming took place in Germany from March to June of 2024.

Two years after Asteroid City, get ready for another summer of Wes Anderson. Focus Features announced today that the director’s latest feature, and first since being crowned an Oscar winner, The Phoenician Scheme, will be arriving in limited release beginning May 30, 2025 before going wide on June 6. This release strategy seems the director and starry cast are preparing for a Cannes Film Festival debut.

Focus Features is reteaming for a third time with Wes Anderson and producer Indian Paintbrush on their next movie The Phoenician Scheme in what is a global distribution rights deal.
A stateside limited release of May 30 has been set with a wide expansion on June 6.
Gosh, I smell Cannes premiere, don’t you? Anderson loves launching his movies at Cannes, recent titles being Asteroid City, which was a nice box office hit for Focus, as well as Searchlight’s The French Dispatch to name a few. Universal Pictures has international distribution. Focus also distributed Anderson’s 2012 movie, Moonrise Kingdom, and between that and Asteroid City, the city grossed a combined $122M worldwide.
Anderson directed The Phoenician Scheme off a screenplay he co-wrote with his longtime collaborator Roman Coppola. Anderson and Coppola also co-wrote Asteroid City and Moonrise Kingdom together.

We’re just a few months away from a new film from Wes Anderson.
Anderson’s latest feature film “The Phoenician Scheme” — his 12th feature — has been set for a theatrical release on May 30, 2025 from Focus Features, which has landed the worldwide distribution rights to the film after previously releasing his last feature, 2023’s “Asteroid City.” That timing could point to a premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where “Asteroid City” debuted in 2023.

Focus Features has landed the worldwide distribution rights to “The Phoenician Scheme,” the next film from Wes Anderson, and will release the movie in May, the company announced on Tuesday.
In addition to directing, Anderson wrote the script with the story co-written by Roman Coppola. The deal marks the third major collaboration between Focus, Anderson, and Indian Paintbrush, who also partnered on Anderson’s most recent feature, “Asteroid City,” and the 2012 hit “Moonrise Kingdom,” which were both written by Anderson and Coppola.
Focus will distribute the film domestically with a limited release on May 30, 2025 and wide expansion on June 6. Universal Pictures International is handling international distribution.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, “The Phoenician Scheme” centers on the story of a family and a family business.

Adrien Brody never looked like a leading man.
Casting agents and executives made that message clear over and over again throughout his three-plus decades as a working actor. “Overtly,” Brody, 51, says. “But, yeah, it was often told to my representatives, and my representatives would share that with me.”
Even after nabbing the best actor Oscar in 2003 at the age of 29 for “The Pianist” — making him the youngest winner ever in the category — he never quite maintained A-list status.
While a few directors came calling with the occasional studio lead role, like Peter Jackson for his $200 million 2005 tentpole “King Kong” and Nimród Antal for the 2010 “Predators” sequel, those were the exceptions. Yes, he’s booked five movies with Wes Anderson since joining the director’s repertory company in 2007’s “The Darjeeling Limited,” but other major roles have eluded him, even while peers such as Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Leonardo DiCaprio...

How did Jennifer Lawrence react to the nude fight scene in No Hard Feelings? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Yes, Jennifer Lawrence actually found it hilarious. “I didn’t even have a second thought,” she told Variety. “It was hilarious to me.”
The scene in question was one of the standout moments of the film, where Lawrence’s character, Maddie, goes skinny-dipping with a 19-year-old she’s hired to seduce. When some teens swipe their clothes, she doesn’t back down – she chases them and starts fighting, all while completely naked. Her Hunger Games training was on full display, even when things got awkward (she even gets punched in the groin).
Why was nudity suddenly becoming a thing again in comedies? Kristen Lopez, a film critic for The Wrap, explained it as a response to the post-covid world. “Movies are trying to bring back joy and fun after the Covid years,” she said.

One of the greatest enemies a motion picture can have is its own marketing. Previews, posters and even hashtags are, for most people, our first exposure to a new release, revealing relevant information and teasing possibilities and plot points. Sometimes this information is accurate and enticing. Sometimes it’s misleading and sets the audience up for disappointment. And sometimes it’s very accurate, but arguably to a fault.
The trailers for writer/director Drew Hancock’s debut feature “Companion” are giving the audience a very good idea of the movie they’re about to watch, and that’s a little unfortunate, because the film is best viewed without any preconceived notions. Hancock’s wry and creepy screenplay sets its own expectations, inviting the audience along for a particular kind of scary thrill ride. When Hancock pulls out the rug we can see through the floor, into the movie’s mechanisms,...

Wes Anderon has earned his reputation as a singular filmmaker. His style is unmistakable, dating back to his breakthrough indie hit "Rushmore" up through his Oscar-winning smash "The Grand Budapest Hotel." There is no denying a Wes Anderson film when you see one. The filmmaker has worked consistently for going on 30 years now, which is no easy feat. There have been some speed bumps along the way, that much is certain, but Anderson always manages to recover.
One such speed bump came in 2009 with the release of Anderson's stop-motion animated feature "Fantastic Mr. Fox." Though it was embraced critically, the film was not a winner at the box office, to put it somewhat mildly. Against a reported $40 million budget, the film made just over $46 million worldwide in its original run. Yet, that film's relative failure ended up paving the way...

Universal Pictures International and Parco are teaming to release Baltasar Kormakur’s film Touch in Japan next week on January 24, 2025.
The film has particular local resonance, being the story of a decades-spanning love story between an Icelandic man and a Japanese woman who is a survivor of the Hiroshima atomic bomb attack of 1945 and who battles the stigma associated with the survivors, known in Japan as Hibakusha.
The film is Iceland’s submission for the international film Academy Award and is on the 15-film shortlist. Pic features Japanese stars Koki, Masahiro Motoki and Masatoshi Nakamura alongside Icelandic actors Egill Olafsson and Palmi Kormakur.
The drama had its Japanese premiere at the Hiroshima International Film Festival in November last year attended by director Kormákur. Though Wes Anderson has only made two fully stop-motion animated feature films — “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “Isle of Dogs” — almost all of his films dating as far back as “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” have featured some element of animation. Whether it be a full sequence designed to look like classic French bandes dessinées in “The French Dispatch” or the quirky alien featured in “Asteroid City,” Anderson has come to love animation despite not having any initial interest in it. As such, he was invited to take part in a masterclass held at last year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, parts of which were recently published in The Hollywood Reporter.
“It’s a sort of giant, slightly overwhelming thing,” Anderson said of the practice of animation, particularly stop-motion, “but it’s very fun.”

Adrien Brody recalls how one of his collaborations with acclaimed director Peter Jackson saw him earn praise for his driving skills in a tense, tightly-packed shoot for a stunt. The actor is recognizable from his roles in Predators, See How They Run, as well as his frequent collaborations with Wes Anderson for The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch, and Asteroid City. Brody recently starred in The Brutalist, a period drama focused on a Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor trying to achieve the American Dream.
After starting his career working on dark and horrific comedies, Jackson's 1994 biographical drama Heavenly Creatures launched the director into wider recognition in Hollywood. In 1997, the director embarked on a once-thought-impossible journey to adapt The Lord of the Rings to the big screen, producing the acclaimed trilogy in the late '90s and early 2000s before returning to The Hobbit trilogy throughout the 2010s.

Romantic comedy movies are a tough subgenre to nail down these days in terms of quality storytelling, but Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum's space-centric 2024 movie, Fly Me to the Moon, deserves a look from rom-com fans. Coincidentally, Johansson's notable release the year prior also involved elements of space. The actress was part of Wes Anderson's ensemble cast for Asteroid City, an offbeat dramedy that focused on a group attending a convention in the desert get quarantined after an alien visit. She also voiced Elita-1 in 2024's Transformers One, which reunited her with fellow MCU actor Chris Hemsworth.
Technically, Johansson's Fly Me to the Moon co-star Channing Tatum is also an MCU actor now after his cameo appearance as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine. While that was surely a career highlight for Tatum, especially since he'd been linked to the role for a decade, 2024 also saw the actor star and produce Blink Twice,...

Whatever you expected writer/director Drew Hancock’s Companion to be, odds are the trailer has completely altered your expectations. Promoted as a “new kind of love story,” the trailer opens with a voice-over by Iris confessing the two happiest moments in her life were when she met Josh and then when she killed him. It’s later revealed that Iris is actually a robot!
“It was one of the best scripts I’ve ever read,” said Quaid in an interview with EW. “I never saw any of the twists coming, but it’s not necessarily a movie that relies on a big reveal, and every reveal was fresh.”

This year’s Golden Globe goes to Adrien Brody for his part in “The Brutalist.” It’s been twenty years since he made history by winning an Oscar for “The Pianist.” Brody’s most recent award is a big moment in his career because it makes him think about his challenges and successes.
In an emotional victory speech, Brody expressed his gratitude for being recognized. He said onstage, “I’ve had a long life and career with many highs and lows.” This experience has given me perspective and a great appreciation for this moment because it can go away.”
Brady Corbet directs “The Brutalist,” in which Brody plays a Jewish Hungarian builder who has to figure out how to live in America after World War II. His character has problems, like a bad relationship with Guy Pearce’s character, a real estate mogul. The film was well-liked by Golden Globe judges,...

Adrien Brody tonight won his first Golden Globe for his lead turn in The Brutalist, Brady Corbet’s post-wwii immigrant drama released by A24, reflecting in his speech on his family’s ties to the story he helped to tell.
“This story, the character’s journey is very reminiscent of my mother’s and my ancestral journey of fleeing the horrors of war, coming to this great country. And I owe so much to my mother and my grandparents for their sacrifice,” Brody said. “Although I do not know fully how to express all of the challenges that you have faced and experienced, and the many people who have struggled immigrating to this country, I hope that this work stands to lift you up a bit and to give you a voice. I’m so grateful. I will cherish this moment forever.”

Adrien Brody has more gilded hardware to add to his mantle, taking the Golden Globe for best actor in a drama on Sunday night for his role in “The Brutalist.”
Brody is central to director Brady Corbet’s epic story of a holocaust survivor and celebrated Hungarian architect, one who falls prey to a toxic and controlling patron (Guy Pearce) over decades in post-war America.
Read Brody’s speech in full below.
“Hello. Thank you to everyone in this room. Golden Globes voters, for this honor, I am deeply humbled by this. I have much to say. I’m going to try and be brief. After her performance in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, it's clear Sophia Lillis should be getting so much more work – and that a sequel needs to happen. Since her breakout in It: Chapter One, Sophia Lillis' movie and TV roles have been steady and diverse, but none have been as much fun as Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' shapeshifting druid, Doric. The D&d movie just confirms what those who have been paying attention have known all along: Sophia Lillis should be a bigger star.
Lillis was the best part of the It movies, a standout in the aforementioned Honor Among Thieves, mesmerizing in the indie folk horror Gretel & Hansel, and most recently appeared in the ever-whimsical Wes Anderson's Asteroid City. Her TV projects have ranged from the adaptation of Gillian Flynn's dramatic thriller Sharp Objects to the coming-of-age fantasy comedy I Am Not Okay With This.

Adrien Brody has a very personal connection to his part in 'The Brutalist'.The 51-year-old actor plays Jewish Hungarian architect Laszlo Toth – who emigrates to the United States for a new life after World War II – in the new movie and admits that the project meant a lot to him as his family did the same thing during the 1950s.Speaking to Empire magazine, Adrien said: "I've had a lifetime of preparation for this role."I've yearned to have a role of this complexity, that speaks to so many things that are personal to me. I come from very humble beginnings. I've never taken that for granted. I wish my grandparents were able to have seen some of my trajectory. Scarlett Johansson remains one of the most widely known actors working in Hollywood, and she's appeared in a wide variety of genres over the last three decades. Johannson is now most associated, of course, with her work in the MCU, having first joined the franchise with Iron Man 2 in 2010 as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow. Johansson bid Marvel farewell with the release of Black Widow in 2021.
Outside of her work in the MCU, Johansson has appeared in acclaimed titles like Asteroid City (2023) and Marriage Story (2019), as well as Under the Skin (2013), a foray into horror. Johansson has also appeared in a handful of romantic comedies over the years, including Lost in Translation (2003), Don Jon (2013), He's Just Not That Into You (2009), and Scoop (2006). The actor returned to the genre once more this year, starring opposite Channing Tatum.

Gotham City Police Department (Gcpd) officer James "Jim" Gordon has always been Batman's connection to legal, sanctioned law enforcement throughout the franchise's history, and in Matt Reeves's 2022 film "The Batman," Jeffrey Wright's portrayal of a younger Lieutenant Jim Gordon reminds us all why he's the Mvp. Wright's Gordon isn't just a cop that's helping the Caped Crusader (Robert Pattinson) from inside the police department, but he's also basically Batman's best friend, too. The relationship between Gordon and Bats is, simply put, one of the best parts of "The Batman."
The HBO series "The Penguin" is a spin-off of "The Batman" that serves as a bridge between the events of "The Batman" and "The Batman Part II," with Colin Farrell starring as the titular Penguin, also known as Oswald Cobb, a violent but surprisingly charming crime lord on the rise following the death of his boss, Carmine Falcone.

There has been no shortage of cinematic responses to the Covid-19 pandemic on screens both big and small. We’ve had found footage horrors (Host), trippy folk thrillers (In The Earth), prestige TV dramas (Help), quarantine shot (anti-)romances (Malcolm & Marie), existential stand-up/musicals (Bo Burnham’s Inside), and even an allegorical arthouse response to self-isolation from Wes Anderson (Asteroid City). But of all the pieces of art to have emerged from lockdown, we can say with confidence that Sam Crane and Pinny Grylls’ Grand Theft Hamlet — a surreal documentary in which two out of work actors mount a production of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy in the ultraviolent virtual world of Grand Theft Auto Online — is easily the funniest. It also, more unexpectedly, may be one of the most cathartic, too.

Exclusive: Hong Chau (The Instigators), Alison Oliver (Saltburn), and Shazad Latif (Magpie) have landed the three remaining major roles in Academy Award winner Emerald Fennell’s buzzy Wuthering Heights adaptation for Warner Bros, MRC, and LuckyChap.
Sources tell us Chau is playing Nelly Dean, the film’s chief narrator, with Oliver as Isabella Linton. The Substance, the Cannes Film Festival winning, Demi Moore body swap horror movie, is poised to bust to great heights at the global box office with a $70M-$75M take.
That’s quite a landmark for the Working Title produced-2 hour and 21-minute running, French shot movie which has the Ghost and $2.5 billion global grossing blockbuster actress in the awards season conversation for her portrayal of an aerobics instructor TV star, Elizabeth, who soon realizes her days are over in Hollywood. However, she gets the opportunity to participate in a body swap experiment which introduces the world, and her former TV audience, to much younger version of herself, under the new alias Sue (Margaret Qualley). Consequences, as unsexy as they are, ensue. The movie received a 13-minute standing ovation at its Cannes premiere back in May and won Best Screenplay for its filmmaker Coralie Fargeat. Moore has been public about...
