The last two MCU projects, Deadpool & Wolverine and Agatha All Along, introduced some exciting new characters to the MCU, including Deadpool and Lady Death. Aubrey Plaza’s portrayal of Lady Death has been fun and campy, and fans are eager to see more of her in future projects.
Given her comic relationship with Deadpool, Lady Death would be a great fit for his movie series, especially now that Thanos is gone from the MCU. Plaza’s version of the character feels quite different from Thanos’ portrayal of Lady Death, and many fans consider Death to be Deadpool’s true love, much like how Mary Jane is for Spider-Man or Lois Lane is for Superman. As an immortal, Deadpool faces many challenges in trying to be with Death.

There have been rumblings for a while about plans for a Deadpool & Wolverine sequel, no huge surprise after the massive success of Marvel Studios' first R-Rated movie earlier this summer.
While a follow-up to a $1.34 billion blockbuster is a given on one hand, it raises some big questions on the other. For example, how will the Merc with the Mouth and Logan fit into whatever the MCU looks like post-Avengers: Secret Wars? Is Hugh Jackman going to play Earth-616's Logan or will the Multiverse still exist?
The latter option would give Marvel Studios a little more freedom for future projects, but Deadpool and Wolverine larking around on Earth-10005 arguably diminishes the fact each character could and should have a place on the Sacred Timeline.
It's hard to say what comes next at this stage, but scooper @MyTimeToShineH claims, "Deadpool & Wolverine 2 will release after Secret Wars."

Hugh Jackman created one of his most fan-favorite films when he collaborated with director Darren Aronofsky for The Fountain. Aronofsky is primarily known for his psychological tales incorporating surreal and unsettling facets. Despite not being a critical or commercial success like his other films, The Fountain later earned a cult classic tag.

Just like most Darren Aronofsky films, The Fountain also had an unconventional story. The 2006 flick starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz featured three versions of the duo woven by love across time and space. Some critics argued that at times, the film’s concept was too bizarre to grasp and the conclusion fell too hard despite an interesting story.
Nonetheless, Hugh Jackman asserted that the film turned his career forever. He added that the responses he gets for it are deeper and far more impactful than...

Filming for Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi will begin soon. The upcoming prequel, set earlier in the timeline than any other film in the franchise, will be directed by James Mangold, who co-wrote the script with Beau Willimon (known for Andor and House of Cards).
Mangold has been nominated for two Academy Awards: one for writing Logan (2017) and another as a producer on Ford v. Ferrari, which was nominated for Best Picture. His other notable works include The Wolverine and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
According to Empire (via World of Reel and ScreenRant), Mangold mentioned in an interview for his Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet, that once that project wraps—already drawing Oscar buzz—he’ll begin shooting Dawn of the Jedi. Ten years ago, John Wick co-director Chad Stahelski helped give birth to one of cinema’s most prolific assassins and, in turn, one of the industry’s most unlikely franchises.
As Keanu Reeves’ stunt double on The Matrix and the martial arts stunt coordinator for its sequels, Stahelski can attest to the star’s unique relationship with his stunt teams. His gift-giving and overall generosity have been well documented, and when future John Wick co-director David Leitch joined the second and third Matrix chapters as a stuntman, the three of them bonded to the point where Reeves began to track Stahelski and Leitch’s ambitions as business partners and aspiring filmmakers. Years earlier, in 1997, Stahelski and Leitch founded their company, 87Eleven, to be a one-stop shop for action design and stunt training, all while climbing the ranks as stunt performers, fight choreographers, stunt coordinators and second-unit directors. (In 2019, Leitch branched off with 87North.

Brian Tee has joined the cast of Kathryn Bigelow’s next film. The project, which is cloaked in secrecy, has aligned an impressive ensemble, with Rebecca Ferguson, Idris Elba, Jared Harris, Greta Lee, Anthony Ramos, Tracy Letts, Moses Ingram and Gabriel Basso all set to appear in the movie. The plot is being kept under wraps, and Netflix, which is backing Bigelow’s latest project, has yet to reveal a title, but it reportedly is set at the White House during a national security crisis. The film marks Bigelow’s first feature since 2017’s “Detroit.” Her other notable credits include “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Hurt Locker,” for which she won an Oscar for best director.

Movies based on animated series have a 50-50 chance of succeeding. The added pressure of a pre-established fanbase can either make or break the project. Genndy Tartakovsky is a legend in the animated world, with gems like Hotel Transylvania, Primal, Dexter’s Laboratory, and many more.
The Samurai Jack animated series which was released in 2001 became exponentially famous. However, most fans aren’t aware that there was once a live-action movie planned for the beloved series. One of the most famous faces in Hollywood, J.J. Abrams was approached to take on the task, but it unfortunately didn’t work out. Given the chance of the movie being planned again, action star Hiroyuki Sanada would be the best choice for the role.

Hiroyuki Sanada’s involvement with The Wolverine, and later Avengers: Endgame, has fans wondering why Marvel has not yet used the legendary actor to facilitate a bigger role in the MCU. Known for playing a host of samurai and samurai-adjacent characters throughout his career, there is one character that the actor could play with his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor could return to the MCU to play the role of The Silver Samurai, who appeared in the Sanada starrer The Wolverine, way back in 2013. Long before the Avengers and the MCU were the dominant superhero franchises, Marvel was focused on bringing its most popular comic characters to the big screen. The idea of an X-Men movie was floated around as early as the mid-80s, but it took a while to find the right combination of writers, directors, and actors.
The movie that eventually emerged was released in 2000, following Wolverine and Rogue as they become entangled with both Charles Xavier and Magneto's respective teams of mutants. When Congress considers passing the Mutant Registration Act, Magneto launches a plan that could drastically change the political balance of the United States.
Since the first X-Men movie was released, there have been two direct sequels, a trilogy focused on Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, and four prequels. In addition, the Deadpool and New Mutants films have been set in the same world, expanding the franchise to even greater heights.

Deadpool & Wolverine was full of surprises. A fan-favorite moment, though, was when Ryan Reynold and Hugh Jackman get kidnapped by the resistance group and come face to face with Laura, Elektra, Blade, and Gambit. The audience screamed out loud when Channing Tatum walked in with a comic-accurate Gambit look, and even though it has been a month since the film was released, Gambit is still stuck in everyone’s minds.

The victory lap for Japanese screen legend and FX hit Shogun star Hiroyuki Sanada continues. Poland’s pioneering EnergaCamerimage International Film Festival, which focuses foremost on excellence in cinematography, said Thursday that Sanada will receive an award for best TV series performance at the event’s upcoming 32nd edition in Toruń.
Sanada’s honor will be the first time the festival awards an actor for a performance on the small screen, another expansion of the prestigious festival’s ambit.
Rather like the regal Lord Toranaga he plays on FX’s hit show, Sanda is currently in active campaign mode as Shogun prepares to compete at the upcoming 2024 Emmys in more categories than any other drama. Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine released in July to an amazing opening that seemed to have put Marvel back on track. After some of its worst openings, the franchise seems to have finally hit it out of the park with the Ryan Reynolds starrer. With Hugh Jackman’s return and many surprise cameos, the film turned out to be a visceral experience.
Since the release, Reynolds has posted multiple tidbits about the film and many behind-the-scenes moments. A few deleted scenes have also surfaced, with one in particular showing Jackman’s Wolverine, flipping the bird at the Deadpool Corps, which many felt should have been in the movie.

X-Men: Apocalypse was one of the worst films to come out of the Fox X-Men Universe. It was a huge downgrade, especially after the critically acclaimed films, X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. When Logan came out in 2017, it would have been reasonable to assume that it was going to be the last time we’d ever see Hugh Jackman in action as the most iconic member of the X-Men. Of course, it didn’t quite work out that way (which we predicted years ago), with the mutant now anchoring a billion-dollar grossing buddy flick with none other than Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool.
Yet, as wild as Deadpool & Wolverine is, they made it in a way where Logan can still serve as a powerful ending to Wolverine’s story, and indeed, it’s a movie that stands the test of time. In this episode of Marvel Revisited, written, edited and narrated by Kier Gomes, we dig into the making of one of the edgiest superhero movies of all time.
People may forget now just how controversial it was when it came out.

During the summer of 1984, parental outrage over the unexpected gore and graphic violence in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and “Gremlins” led to a ratings change by the Motion Picture Association of America. Encouraged by Steven Spielberg, director of “Temple of Doom” and producer of “Gremlins,” on July 1, 1984, the MPAA introduced the “PG-13” rating, indicating that “parents are strongly cautioned to give special guidance to children under 13.” A few weeks later, on August 10, 1984, “Red Dawn” became the first American film released with the new rating. Although it got mixed reviews upon its debut, it has become a cult classic both for featuring a group of young actors who went on to become some of the biggest stars of the decade, and for its themes that are reminders of the real fear Americans felt over the Cold War. "I am the best at what I do, bub. And what I do isn't very nice".
Wolverine's most iconic line is also the one line that can sum up his character and what he believes he stands for.
James Howlett Logan, born in the late 1800s, has led a nomadic life throughout his time in the Marvel Comics, traversing the globe in pursuit of a family and a home. The emergence of his bone claws marked the beginning of a journey fraught with loss, as he navigated a path lined with the fallen - both friend and foe. As a mutant with a remarkable healing factor, he is inevitably destined to outlive those he holds dear. This reality, perhaps, contributes to his rugged demeanor, sharpened tactical understanding, and unique skill set. Notable abilities include heightened senses, enhanced physical capabilities, and a skeletal structure reinforced with the indestructible adamantium.

Hugh Jackman’s yellow costume made even grown men sob on the sets of Deadpool & Wolverine. The emotions are understandable considering the character was robbed of his comic book identity in the films for a very long time. Wolverine’s yellow costume didn’t sit well with the X-Men makers who believed it to be too childish to include in the film.

However, James Mangold had plans to bring the costume to one of his Fox Universe films. He shot an alternate ending scene in The Wolverine where he teased the classic yellow and brown suit for Jackman’s character. The setup was eventually removed from the film.

This post contains spoilers for "Deadpool & Wolverine."
The end credits of "Deadpool & Wolverine" feature clips from past "X-Men" movies, set to Green Day's misunderstood break-up song "Good Riddance." Marvel Studios is prepping the merry mutants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so the era of early "X-Men" films is over. But are these movies really worth celebrating?
Look, I like some of the "X-Men" movies on their own terms. "Logan" is a gem; I even think director James Mangold's first mutant rodeo, "The Wolverine," is underrated. "X2" is solid, despite being a much-less complex story than its source material, "God Loves, Man Kills" by Chris Claremont and Brent Anderson. I like the story about Charles (James McAvoy) and Erik (Michael Fassbender) buried inside "X-Men: First Class." And "X-Men: Days of Future Past" has some of the best silver screen superhero action ever.
But as I dive deeper into the comics,...

The latest Marvel movie event, Deadpool & Wolverine, is making bank at the box office despite the R-Rating. The movie is seen by many as a bookend to the nearly 25 years of X-Men films that began at 20th Century Fox back in July of 2000. The X-Men series is considered the predecessor to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this last installment is considered one of the best Marvel movies in years.
One of the biggest parts of Deadpool & Wolverine has to do with the multiverse as well as the history of many past Marvel movies. We see several character returns that audiences loved. But there’s one person who doesn’t seem all that happy, and that person is James Mangold.
James Mangold is perhaps best known for helming the 2017 X-Men drama Logan, a film that was seen as the perfect farewell to Hugh Jackman’s legacy as the uncanny hero.

How to Watch the X-Men Films in Chronological Order. (Photo Credit – Youtube)
The X-Men franchise began at the turn of the millennium in 2000 and went on to release 13 more films, becoming one of the most-loved superhero film series. However, with the release of multiple trilogies, prequels, and spin-offs, the timeline of the franchise became confusing.
Add to that X-Men’s inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the team-up between Deadpool and Wolverine, which only made the timeline even more complicated. Well, we are here to help you out. Here is how you can watch all the 14 X-Men films in chronological order.

Wow, can you believe, true believers, that it’s been over eight months since our last multiplex trek into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)? Really! Sure, there have been a few Disney+ shows, and a Sony “Spidey spin-off”, but it’s nothing like sitting down with your popcorn for a real MCU journey. Aside from the long “lead time” this one is pretty unique as it takes a “side road’ to include the “Fox Marvel movie-verse”. You see before there was a Marvel Studios, the comics giant licensed several of their characters to the established movie studios. After years of legal entanglements, Sony got Spidey (and partnered with Marvel for the Tom Holland trilogy). But the main home for many Marvel stars was 20th Century Fox. They produced three Fantastic Four features, Daredevil and its spin-off Elektra, and the X-men franchise including The Wolverine solo flicks, and the New Mutants.

It’s difficult to think of a modern A-list actor more strongly associated with one role than Hugh Jackman. In 2000, the Australian performer was known almost exclusively in the theater world, after playing the role of Curly in a West End production of “Oklahoma!” Then, that July, he played the grizzled, bitter Wolverine, the point-of-view character in superhero blockbuster “X-Men.”
Jackman wasn’t an obvious choice for the role — his only film credits beforehand were two minor Australian productions, and his 6 foot 2 stature and conventionally hunky appearance isn’t exactly a spitting image of the short hairball that James “Logan” Howett is typically portrayed as in the comics. And yet, when he appeared on screen in the first film as a gruff outsider, Jackman instantly embodied the qualities that made Wolverine such a consistent fan-favorite: his anger at the world, his regret of his past, and his tender heart beneath...

The X-Men franchise, based on a team of mutant superheroes in the Marvel comic books, was established by Fox. The team of beings with mutated genetics that endow them with special powers was brought together by Charles Xavier, or Professor X, played by James McAvoy in the prequel films and by Patrick Stewart in the films that kick off the franchise.
In the films, various X-Men members are played by multiple actors, which helps categorize the films in some ways. The timeline of the films gets complicated with a full reset in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), which unites the different sets of actors that play characters in the older and newer film. Those not familiar might get confused based on which actor plays which character in various films.

After directing the likes of “The Wolverine, “Logan,” and “Indiana Jones And The Dial of Destiny,” James Mangold has to set something straight: he’s not a fan “multi-movie universe-building.” In fact, he declares such a thing as the “death” and “enemy of storytelling.” Easy for someone to say that kind of IP launched their career, but here we are, in Hollywood’s dismal age of multiversal redundancy.

The collision of Deadpool, Wolverine and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2024 threequel film for Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with the Mouth has much backstory, as does its two heroes, or anti-heroes as some consider, with their own sets of films that establish their histories.
The Deadpool franchise is pretty simple to follow, since Ryan Reynolds only has two previous standalone films iin the red suit, Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). Ryan Reynolds does also appear in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). There are several references to Wolverine in the two Deadpool films.
Hugh Jackman’s journey as Wolverine is a bit more complicated, with multiple timelines and two actors playing Professor X, or Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart’s older version vs. James McAvoy’s 30 year-old X), and also Magneto (Michael Fassbender vs. Ian McKellen) and some memory loss on the part of James Howlett — or Logan, aka Wolverine.

Despite having been a part of some of the biggest franchises ever — “X-Men,” “Indiana Jones,” and soon, “Star Wars” — James Mangold is making his disdain for “multi-movie universe-building” known.
The “A Complete Unknown” writer/director told Rolling Stone that he doesn’t “do multiverses” when it comes to his own filmography. Mangold was asked if he considered re-casting Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash in Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown” as Mangold directed Phoenix as the singer in 2005 Oscar-winning film “Walk the Line.”

James Mangold hates multi-verse movies because he thinks they're "the enemy of storytelling".The 60-year-old director has helmed Marvel blockbusters like 'The Wolverine' and 'Logan' but isn't looking to bring this cross-over idea over to his upcoming Bob Dylan biopic 'A Complete Unknown', which stars Timothee Chalamet as the music legend.Asked if Chalamet's Dylan could cross paths with Joaquin Phoenix's Johnny Cash from his 2006 flick 'Walk the Line', Mangold told Rolling Stone magazine: "I don’t do multiverses. But beyond that, Johnny Cash was like, 30. I love Joaquin, but he’s not 30, or whatever Johnny was at this moment. They’re both young people in that moment in life. James Mangold has expressed that he’s clearly not a fan of cinematic multiverses.
While the filmmaker has helmed several sequels, including Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023), Logan (2017) and The Wolverine (2013), he likely won’t be looking to direct an installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is known for its “multi-movie universe-building.”

Deadpool and Wolverine are headed to the MCU with the highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine! It’s a huge change and a poignant farewell to the era of 20th Century Fox’s long running X-Men franchise. To celebrate the move, we looked back at all fourteen films and ranked the mutant adventures from worst to best!

After another great summer blockbuster this past weekend, we get one of the most anticipated movies of the year, as well as the first from Marvel Studios since last December. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know that Marvel and Disney’s “Deadpool and Wolverine” brings together the popular characters played by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman — not for the first time, mind you. Everyone involved with this new Marvel movie, including director Shawn Levy, is probably hoping that everyone has forgotten about 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” and thankfully, they probably have.
Despite the presence of Jackman’s Wolverine, this is very much the third film in the “X-Men” sub-franchise that began with 2016’s “Deadpool,” which kicked off a successful run of R-rated superhero movies not necessarily meant for children. That movie and the sequel for Reynolds...

The movie was directed by James Mangold, whose credits include Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ford v Ferrari, Logan, The Wolverine, 3:10 to Yuma, Walk the Line, Identity, Girl, Interrupted, and Cop Land.
The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Norbert Leo Butz, Dan Fogler, and Scoot McNairy.

If anyone knows how to please fans and make their wildest dreams come true, it is Kevin Feige. The MCU president has brought to the screen many iconic moments that franchises could only imagine before. He was the man behind assembling the Avengers, introducing the multiverse, and bringing three Spider-man to the screen at the same time.
Now, Uncle Feige is all set to bring Christmas in summer with Deadpool & Wolverine. The upcoming film will introduce Ryan Reynolds’ iconic character to the MCU and bring back Hugh Jackman from retirement. According to director Shawn Levy, Feige’s sole condition to make it happen was to give Wolverine his comic-accurate yellow suit.

When our first look at Deadpool & Wolverine was released last July (it's close to a year to the day), jaws were left on the floor with the reveal that Hugh Jackman's Logan would don his comic-accurate yellow costume.
The closest we'd ever come to that was a deleted scene from The Wolverine which teased the idea of the clawed mutant one day suiting up. Unfortunately, by the time X-Men: Days of Future Past rolled around a year later, Logan was back in black leather.
Jackman has said he was keen to finally suit up in Deadpool & Wolverine, but it turns out that it wasn't his idea. In fact, it wasn't Ryan Reynolds' or filmmaker Shawn Levy's either; instead, it was down to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
"He said, 'Yes, but he wears the yellow. Can he finally wear the yellow?'" Levy told fans in Shanghai,...

The Wolverine Unknowingly Adapted Shogun Before FX’s Masterpiece - Main Image
James Clavell’s Shogun is now in the minds of TV bingers worldwide after the brilliant FX show brought the 1975 novel to life in one of the best dramas we’ve seen in years. However, it turns out you’ve likely already seen an adaptation of Shogun before in the form of 2013’s X-Men movie The Wolverine.
During a long-overdue rewatch of the entire X-Men movie catalogue—yes, even Origins: Wolverine and Dark Pheonix—I watched the extended cut of The Wolverine for the first time. Not only was I surprised by the additional gore and a few bad words, but also at my realisation that James Mangold’s often-overlooked Marvel flick is also an adaptation of James Clavell’s unforgettable novel.
There are obvious links between the two such as the presence of Shogun’s amazing Toranaga actor Hiroyuka Sanada,...

The reel shows Spider-Man running into the sets of the film in a scene with Berry and Cyclops actor James Marsden, after which the crew breaks into laughter.
