Zarqa (1969) was a landmark movie of 1969 in many ways- actress Neelo had to perform a dance in chains filmed in a jail with a sad film song by Mehdi Hassan playing in the background. Her performance was very effective because she could relate it all back to a real-life event that happened to her sometimes earlier.Film song lyricist Habib Jalib had also written the heart-wrenching emotional song based on that above mentioned real-life event with Neelo.To top it all off, music director Wajahat Attre composed a tune that was very moving and fitting to the occasion. No wonder this film song became a run-away super-hit right away in Pakistan in 1969.
