At some time during the movie, Tom says to Frisson that this is the night where "men will walk on the moon". As he says it, he point to a full moon in the dark night sky. However, the moon would actually be in a waxing crescent phase, as June 20, 1969 was six days after the new moon. Also the moon would have been only visible for a short while, above the horizon, following sunset, and wouldn't be seen from the northern hemisphere for the remainder of the night.
