In December of 2020, daily newspapers "Vecernje Novosti" announced that the Serbian version of Dynasty (1981) will be broadcast on Pink TV.
Dinastija was announced as the most expensive domestic series ever. 17 screenwriters worked on adapting the original script, and it was directed by 9 directors headed by Marija Perovic. It was originally planned that the series would have 220 episodes and that filming would last 18 months. In June 2021, it was announced that the Carrington and Colby families in the Serbian version will be named Kadic and Konstantinovic and instead in oil business, they will be involved in construction business. Some of the costumes in the series was designed by Biljana Tipsarevic, who wanted the series to be "fashionably recognizable" and to have a "great aesthetic impact" on the audience, just like the original series had, back in the day.
The Casting process lasted for six months and about 600 actors were planned to appear in the series. About casting the series, Stamenkovic said: "We wanted a combination of new and already very well-known faces. We didn't want to offer viewers the actors they constantly see on the screen in different productions." Of over 20 prominent roles, according to Stamenkovic, only 2 actors were not the first choice.
In May, it was confirmed that Marija Karan would portray the Serbian version of Alexis Carrington Colby (Aleksandra Kadic Konstantinovic). She described her character as "interesting, intriguing and charming" and someone who "always has a plan, never sleeps and knows what she wants",adding that the fun part about her is that she "takes the lead". It was also announced that Rade Serbedzija will portray the character of Daniel Reece, who was portrayed by late Rock Hudson in the original series, but Stamenkovic later denied that.
