A new 30-second TV spot for James Gunn’s Superman was released yesterday, showing off some fresh footage from the highly anticipated movie. However, the final shot of the teaser has come under fire. In it, Superman does a barrel roll as he avoids some rocks, with the camera focusing on the character’s face as he flies towards us. Some feel that it looks a little “goofy” and have blamed the lack of facial movement on poor VFX, but Gunn has defended the shot on Threads.

“There is absolutely zero CG in his face,” Gunn said. “People’s faces can look different when you put a wide angle lens up close. The background plate in Svalbard is 100% real, as is David.“

James Gunn is making this Sunday afternoon super by unveiling a new teaser for his Superman movie. The latest promo builds atop the previous teaser with additional footage, including new looks at Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), the Fortress of Solitude, and a sequence featuring Supes in flight. Exclusive: Micaela Wittman and Arthur De Larroche, the indie filmmaking duo behind Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, are reteaming on We’re Already There, a dramedy currently in production in New York City.

De Larroche is directing from his script written with Wittman, who leads the cast. Others appearing include Truman Hanks (A Man Called Otto), Jon Bass (Miracle Workers), Elsie Hewitt (Industry), Kevin William Paul (Broadway’s The Outsiders), Jonah Feingold (At Midnight), Jessica Baglow (Gentleman Jack), electronic musician Marc Rebillet (80 for Brady), Francesca Keller (Anyone Else But Me), and Morgane Bensadoun (Blue Bloods).

A dialogue-driven film in the spirit of My Dinner with Andre, We’re Already There follows a disillusioned young artist (Wittman) as she navigates a single day in New York City, grappling with career setbacks, personal revelations, and industry politics, while juggling self-doubt and ambition in the cutthroat world of entertainment.

Joaquin Acrich and Lily Drew (Mike Birbiglia’s The Old Man & the Pool) are producing alongside Manic, the production company from Wittman & Larroche launched last summer.

The Manic duo comes to the project after collaborating on Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, which saw Wittman star with De Larroche directing. An adaptation of the same-name bestseller, which premiered at Outfest, the former is a coming-of-age drama that follows Wittman’s Remy as she attempts to balance her relationship with her alcoholic mother and her longtime best friend, Arletta. The film came on the heels of the duo’s 2021 mockumentary Clairevoyant, which follows a spoiled 21-year-old aspiring guru as she attempts to find the meaning of life while filming her journey with a makeshift camera crew.

As an actress, Wittman was recently announced to be starring opposite Julia Fox and Ashley Moore in the sapphic romance, Perfect. She has also been seen in Netflix’s Shirley Chisholm biopic Shirley, as well as such series as The Dropout, Sharp Objects, Atypical, Teen Wolf, and Modern Family.

De Larroche has also appeared as an actor in both Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, among other projects. Prior to Clairevoyant, he helmed the indie features American Bistro and If God Wants.

Focused on young adult, female-led and genre agnostic films, Manic’s initial development slate also included the action horror pic Rager, high-concept YA romance I Suck, and female buddy comedy Night on the Town, as we were first to report.

Many studios choose to unveil big new trailers during the Super Bowl, but Warner Bros. Discovery will reveal the latest look at one of their most anticipated movies of the year during the Puppy Bowl instead. THR reports that a special sneak preview of Superman will debut during the Puppy Bowl, with James Gunn set to appear with his dog Ozu, who was the inspiration for Krypto. In fact, the teaser trailer broke a big record for Warner Bros. and DC as Gunn took to social media to announce that it has been viewed over 250 million times.

A lot is riding on Superman‘s success so the teaser trailer needs to land well with fans. Based on comments on DC’s YouTube page, it seems to have hit most of the right notes.

The teaser trailer opens with Superman gasping for breath, bloody and calling for help from his trusty dog Krypto. The two-minute trailer has only a couple of lines of dialogue and instead teases us with very brief snippets of all the key characters.

“Superman” is heading to screens faster than a speeding bullet and it appears that there will be a lot of famous characters dropping in.

Kicking off DC’s revamped slate and directed by James Gunn, the film is set to hit screens in Summer 2025, and finally has a first look trailer. It follows Superman (David Corenswet) as he tries to balance his alien Kryptonian background with his human upbringing. Along with directing, Gunn also wrote the script, using characters originally created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

As fans wait with bated breath for the Superman trailer, which is due to drop online tomorrow, James Gunn is teasing a little bit about what influenced him during the making of this movie. A lot is riding on this first official entry in the Dcu as the movie will set the tone for the rebooted universe after Zack Snyder’s take with Man of Steel similarly kicked off the Dceu with a more divisive perception than Marvel Studios’ beginning. Reliable trailer release date and runtime leaker @Cryptic4KQual has shared a few minor, spoiler-free pieces of intel, explaining that the sneak peek "doesn't have much dialogue" and will be "more [music] focused."

They add that the Superman trailer will also include "some brief important appearances" before suggesting we'll hear an electric guitar version of the Man of Tomorrow's classic theme.

Yesterday, Warner Bros. and DC Studios shared the first poster for Superman. The movie will serve as the true launching platform for the new Dcu after Max's Creature Commandos, and excitement for Thursday's trailer is rapidly rising.

In the motion poster shared on social media yesterday, we heard what appeared to be composer John Murphy's score for the reboot. Taking its cues from John Williams' work in Superman: The Movie and, to a lesser extent, Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel theme, it's received a positive response from fans.

Today, Murphy has posted a 30-second clip on YouTube in a video he's named "Theme From Superman." We don't know if this is the Man of Tomorrow's main theme, but it seems to be at least part of it (we'd imagine a full "reveal" is being saved for the trailer).

We’ve been anxiously awaiting the first trailer for James Gunn’s Superman, and that wait is finally over. This morning, Warner Bros released the film’s official key art and also revealed that the full trailer will be dropping on Thursday, December 19. Here’s the official tease:

DC Studios also recently dropped a pair of release dates for some upcoming projects. First up will be the Clayface movie, which is being scripted by Mike Flanagan.

Earlier this year, James Gunn suggested that Superman wouldn’t need any reshoots, but it appears the cameras will be rolling once again. THR’s Heat Vision Newsletter states that “the movie will be doing a few days of additional shooting in Los Angeles in the near term” after recent test screenings.

For a film as big as Superman, a few extra days of reshoots are pretty minor, unlike some other comic-book movies I could mention. When Gunn was asked about possible Superman reshoots this summer, he said he’s “done a total of one day of reshoots on my past two films combined.“

I’m looking forward to seeing more from the film; hopefully, we may even see the first teaser trailer by the end of the year.

Beyond a couple of photos, we haven’t been able to see David Corenswet in action as Superman, but James Gunn is confident that the actor will blow us away. While chatting with THR about the upcoming Creature Commandos series, Gunn was asked about the Superman movie and was full of praise for his leading man.

“Superman is an enormous bear of a movie. It’s completely different from [Creature Commandos] in every way, but it’s very much fantastic as well,” Gunn said. “Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, David Corenswet is going to freak everyone out with how great he is. He is one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with, and he can do everything. The man is incredible.”

David Spade and Theo Von will star in and produce a buddy comedy, “Busboys,” which they wrote and are self-financing.

Set in a border town in Arizona, the movie follows David and Theo, two friends who “think becoming waiters will solve all of their problems. They are wrong,” per the logline.

Jonah Feingold will direct “Busboys,” which is also produced by Robert Ogden Barnum alongside Spade and Von.

Production will kick off Jan. 10 in Los Angeles.

Superman director James Gunn revealed the first look at Krypto the Superdog yesterday, but some fans have already criticized his breed. While Krypto is typically depicted as a white Labrador Retriever, he has appeared as many different breeds over the years. Not exactly the most consistent pup. For the film, Gunn chose to model Krypto after his own dog, Ozu.

In response to Gunn’s reveal of Krypto on Threads, one fan said, “Not to be ‘that guy,’ but isn’t Krypto supposed to be something akin to a Labrador or something similar?” Gunn replied, “No. Krypto is historically a generic white dog, sometimes also a lab, white shepherd, husky, or Dalmatian. David Corenswet was seen this year as the antagonist in Twisters, and while audiences new to him got a sense of his physique as his height allowed him to tower over his co-stars, he would later put on the necessary muscle to become the Man of Steel in James Gunn‘s Dcu film Superman. Variety reports that Corenswet recently appeared on the Manly Things (Sort of) podcast, where he spoke of his Kryptonian transformation.

Corenswet explained, “I wasn’t 238 (pounds) when we started shooting. I was 238 at my max. I didn’t fit into any of my pants.” The new Kal-El actor spoke candidly about getting used to the new weight and he joked about his realization that he had become a 2Xl shirt size when he attended the table read for Superman. He stated, “That was at the peak of my bulk. And then I slowly lost weight before we started shooting.

Max’s Friends-inspired game show, Fast Friends, has landed Whitney Cummings as host. Production will kick off in October 2024 on the four-part unscripted show, with filming confirmed to take place at The Friends Experience: The One in New York City.

“As a longtime fan of Friends, I am beyond thrilled to host the first ever game show. After 30 years, the fandom surrounding this beloved series only continues to grow and now I have the great pleasure of awarding the ultimate fans with bragging rights for life,” said Cummings.

Alan Tudyk is one of those actors who can do anything, from stone-cold killers to crime-solving aliens to slow-witted roosters, and now he might be joining Superman on the big screen. According to Deadline, Tudyk may have a secret role in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie. Exactly who the actor might be playing is being kept under wraps, but it could be anything, even a voice role.

Tudyk is actually already a part of the new DC Universe. He voices Doctor Phosphorus in Creature Commandos. The rest of the cast of the upcoming animated series includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, and Steve Agee as John Economos, and Sean Gunn as Weasel. The series tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans.

A young adult adaptation of Phantom of the Opera is in development at Disney+. The original Gaston Leroux novel is set in Paris' Palais Garnier Opera House, which is being haunted by a vengeful "Phantom" who takes a young singer under his wing and has been adapted to the screen many times since it was originally published as a serial between 1909 and 1910. The most well-known Phantom of the Opera adaptation is likely the 1986 Andrew Lloyd Webber stage musical, which was made into a 2004 movie directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum.

Exclusive: Disney+ is in early development on Phantom, a YA movie reimagination of classic novel The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, sources tell Deadline. The project hails from Disney Branded Entertainment and Kenny Ortega, who has led two major Disney franchises with High School Musical, Descendants. Phantom is very green at this time but has the potential to become a franchise similar to The Descendants if it moves forward.

This marks Ortega’s return to Disney following the conclusion of his deal with Netflix. He will direct and executive produce Phantom under his The Ko Company production banner. The spec script was written by Giovanni M. Porta (At Midnight) from a story by Porta and Eric Bromberg.

Superman wrapped production last month, but the film’s release is still nearly a year away. This will give Superman director James Gunn enough time to perfect the VFX during the post-production process, and it’s all by design.

On Threads, a fan brought up the plight of overworked VFX artists who are forced to work very tight deadlines in order to get a film out on time. Now that James Gunn is running DC Studios, things will be different, with Superman getting a lengthy post-production schedule.

María Gabriela De Faría, whose credits include Deadly Class and The Exorcism of God, plays a villain known as The Engineer, a member of The Authority, in director James Gunn’s Superman, which is set to reach theatres on July 11th, 2025. She’ll soon be wrapping up her work on that film – and Deadline reports that she has already signed on to her next project. De Faría is set to star in the serial killer film Romanticizing Monsters for director Berkley Brady (Dark Nature).

De Faría will be taking on the role of Amelia Velez, a reporter and true crime podcaster investigating a series of missing person cases linked to an active serial killer that her boss and the police don’t believe exists.

Romanticizing Monsters is being produced by Justin Kelly and Katisha Shaw.

James Gunn’s Superman movie is currently shooting in Cleveland, and over the last week, we’ve seen plenty of photos emerging from the set. One such photo has revealed a very special cameo which honours Christopher Reeve, who played Superman in four movies.

Will Reeve, Christopher’s youngest son, will make a cameo in Superman. He’s said to be playing a TV reporter in the film, which shouldn’t be too much of a stretch as he works as an ABC News correspondent.

James Gunn’s Superman movie is currently shooting in Cleveland and photos from the set have started to pop up. To note, these are unofficial images, and while some may start to pick apart the way the super suit looks in action until we see how it really looks with CGI included, we really haven’t gotten a true glimpse of the character other than the official still from a few weeks back. You can also see what looks like Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific in the images.

James Gunn’s Superman is still in the midst of production in Atlanta, and it’s been reported that Beck Bennett, best known for Saturday Night Live, has joined the cast as a “notable reporter” at the Daily Planet.

The initial reports didn’t specify exactly who Beck Bennett plays in Superman, but James Gunn confirmed on Instagram that he would play Steve Lombard, a brash and arrogant sports reporter who enjoys playing childish practical jokes on Clark Kent. David Corenswet is our new Man of Steel, but before landing the leading role in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, he had auditioned for the role of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, at least, that was the rumour.

Responding to a fan on Threads, Gunn confirmed that Corenset did indeed audition for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but admitted that he doesn’t actually recall it. “I asked him about it and he said he did so I believe him, but I don’t remember it,” Gunn said. The fan also asked if Superman’s flying scenes in the new movie might be similar to Adam Warlock’s flying scenes from Guardians 3. “No, what we’re doing now for flying is much more complex than what was done for [Adam Warlock],” Gunn responded.
