From actor and director Mathieu Kassovitz who is famous for directing the film La Haine and more recently popping up as Napoleon in the BBC adaptation of War and Peace is this short film XY.
XY is only 8 minutes long and is essentially a story told backwards. An urban crime thriller which starts with a fire, what could be a body being burned, as the two people go backwards they have been stopped by the police eliminate them. More importantly there is a violent sequence where they beat up a victim in a house and kill him.
Kassovitz's film as a Tarantinoesque feel about it, not all of it is backwards as he forwards the deaths in key scenes and even in its short running time and pumping soundtrack it makes narrative sense.
After a bruising encounter with Hollywood over movies like Babylon AD maybe Kassovitz made this short to get his mojo back.
