Hamm is an aged master, he's blind and can't stand up.Clow is his servant, who cannot sit down. They reside in a tiny house by the sea. These two characters are dependent on each other, but they can't stand each other. They have been fighting for years. In the same tiny house reside also Hamm's legless parents, who live in rubbish bins.Leikin loppu (1968) is a TV play directed by Jack Witikka.Jukka Sipilä took care of the television direction.Samuel Beckett wrote the original play, Endgame (Fin de partie) in 1957.I haven't read it.This play contains some distinguished dialogue. And great actors who speak those lines.Pentti Siimes is absolutely brilliant as Clow.He is a man behind many theater roles, and this is one of them.He retired from the world of theater with the play Kvartetti in 2008.Today this master turns 80 years.Tarmo Manni handles the role of the blind Hamm in a wheelchair excellently. His ending monologue is something else.Pentti Irjala and Pia Hattara play the tragic characters, Magg and Nell in a classy way. This may be, from time to time, even too absurd. But it's fascinating, nevertheless. It shows us these unhappy characters, who live inside nothingness.
