“A Lifetime” is a new film launched this week by Animal Defenders International (Adi) about the brutal short lives of two foxes, brothers Borys and Eryk, born and killed on a Polish fur farm.
Adi placed hidden cameras on the farm to capture this rare insight into an industry that kills more than 100 million animals a year.
Watch the film here.
Joanna Lumley and Brian Blessed are backing Adi’s campaign to end the fur trade.
Animal Defenders International President Jan Creamer said: “Over 100 million animals die for their fur every year. Our film shows the lives of these intelligent, feeling individuals and the cruelty they suffer when treated like a product. Just because they are not like us. Playful fox cubs Borys and Eryk, grow up in a small cage and die a terrifying and painful death for vanity and trinkets. This is the real cost of fur – when you buy fur,...

A new international trailer lands for the Woody Woodpecker movie...
Update: It's been a while, but Woody Woodpecker completists, fear no more. A new international trailer for the upcoming movie has been released. And you can view it right here...
You are very welcome.
Previously (December 2016)
Thanks to Universal's Brazillian wing (Wing! get it? Like a bird's wing!) here is the first trailer for the live-action Woody Woodpecker movie. In the sense, that is, that the movie is live-action, because the Woodpecker most definitely is not.
The film's director is Alex Zamm, previously culpable for Jingle All the Way 2, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, Inspector Gadget 2... You know what? That's a lot of number twos.
Zamm did direct some episodes of the Upright Citizen's Brigade TV show and he does have Timothy Omundensen here - the bearded man getting gunged, previously popular in Psych and Gallivant.

Jake and the Neverland Pirates: Battle for the Book is one of the more intriguing efforts from the children’s show. It’s a solid enough Disney vehicle in general, and one that the kids love, but the story here incorporates Wendy, John, and Michael in a new adventure that is not only a nice homage to the original story/film, but also plays with the animation in a way that is admittedly lost on the target audience, but is a lot of fun.
Hook learns about Wendy’s book of stories, from which she reads to her brothers about all of Hook’s failures, and he decides he had better steal it to keep the stories from spreading.
It turns out there’s something magical about the book of stories, and the general connection to Neverland, and if the book gets destroyed, everyone will forget everything that happened.

Despite being critically panned, an under-performer at the box office and the second-worst film of Arnold Schwarzenegger's '90s career (after Batman & Robin), Jingle All the Way has miraculously spawned a sequel.
There's no place for Arnie in the belated follow-up, however, as Larry the Cable Guy takes on the role of a laid-back dad struggling to get his daughter the sought-after Harrison Bear for Christmas.
A co-production between 20th Century Fox and WWE Studios, the comedy features wrestler Santino Marella in a prominent role with Brian Stepanek, Kristen Robek and Kennedi Clements in the cast.
Director Alex Zamm, whose previous credits include Tooth Fairy 2, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 and Inspector Gadget 2, is pulling a double shift as the voice of the bear.
Jingle All the Way 2 will be heading straight to DVD and Blu-ray on December 2.

Monday’s super-sized Teen Wolf season finale sent Scott’s pack on the most hectic south-of-the-border adventure since Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2.

After sifting through Scott’s dirty man-panties — thanks, Stiles! — the gang tracked his musk all the way to the Temple of Tezcatlipoca (which I totally spelled right, according to Wikipedia). There were a few bumps along the way, like Liam going bananas and almost eating Stiles, but they eventually made it in one piece.
Of course, getting to Mexico was only half the battle.

A sequel to the greatest Christmas film of all time is finally being made, without its original star.
It's Turbo Time again. But not the Turbo Time you remember. That Turbo Time is gone forever, like a a fart from Ted the Reindeer in the winter wind. Admit it: Jingle All the Way is a guilty pleasure that is best consumed in secret every holiday, like cheap boxed wine. Even now, the classic lines from that film are running through your head with a bad Austrian accent tied to it.

The short story goes... in August 2011, Eddie Murphy teamed up with director Alex Zamm (Tooth Fairy 2, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2) to make a live-action version of the classic cartoon Hong Kong Phooey. We must have missed the announcement of the project, because, I checked the S&A archives and didn't find any posts on it. Over a year later, the movie obviously hasn't happened; will it? I dunno. I don't think I particularly care either, especially if the video below is anything to go by. All that's left of the project is some test footage that was shot for it, and that has surfaced. Apparently Zamm released the footage online, via his Vimeo...

So, in the midst of awards hoopla, here's a bracing reminder of Hollywood at its worst. Studio executives around town have been busy trying to put together movies centered around two cartoon properties: "Hong Kong Phooey," based on a 1970s cartoon no one remembers with Eddie Murphy set to cash a paycheck in the titular voice role, and "Marvin The Martian," a Looney Tunes character we all know and love, who someone seems to think is capable of leading his own movie. Anyway, it appears some test footage has been done and yeah, it's pretty awful. The guys over at Cartoon Brew have the background, and basically, auteur Andrew Zamm, the genius director behind "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2," the upcoming straight-to-video "The Little Rascals" reboot, and the Carrot Top vehicle "Chairman of the Board," put together two test reels for the movies. In the first spot for 'Phooey,' we see Murphy (or more likely,...

A moment of silence, please, for Alex Zamm’s Marvin the Martian and Hong Kong Phooey movies. The Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 director was attached to helm CGI-live action hybrid adaptations of both properties; Mike Myers was rumored to star in the former, while Eddie Murphy was attached to star in the latter.
Now, though, it’s looking increasingly like neither one will ever be completed. Marvin was originally supposed to hit theaters in December of 2011. Hong Kong, meanwhile, hasn’t seemed to make much progress since Murphy’s deal was announced 16 months ago.

Variety was reporting that Warner Bros. was developing a live action/CG feature film starring Marvin the Martian back in 2008.
Marvin was created by Chuck Jones and made his debut in a 1948 Looney Tunes cartoon Haredevil Hare along with his Martian dog, K-9 although he is unnamed in this film. The character earlier known as Commander X-2 was often set to blow up planet Earth, only to be foiled by Bugs Bunny.
Producer Steve Crystal developed the pitch as a Christmas story, with Marvin coming to Earth to destroy Christmas but being prevented from doing so when he’s trapped in a gift box.
This time Alex Zamm (Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2) who has posted test footage from in-development Hong Kong Phooey live action movie also has posted footage from a more-promising, but shelved, Marvin the Martian hybrid movie on his Vimeo page.

Last year, Warner Bros announced that it is developing a live-action "Hong Kong Phooey" film, to be directed by Alex Zamm ((Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, Tooth Fairy 2) and voiced by Eddie Murphy. It's not clear what the status of the project is, but Zamm has now unveiled test footage from the movie. Check it out below, in addition to footage from the live-action "Marvin the Martian" movie, which Zamm has been also attached to. "Hong Kong Phooey" revolves around a mild-mannered dog, named Penry, who, after stumbling into a mystic ceremony, is accidentally granted mystic powers, including the ability to walk, talk, and do kung fu. Under the tutelage of his kung fu master and with the help of his sidekick, Spot the cat, Penry dons a costume and becomes a crime fighter. "Marvin the Martian" movie was announced back in 2008 and is based on a classic "Looney Tunes" character.

While the aggressively discomforting exploits seen within TLC's reality show “Toddlers and Tiaras” only continues to grow in popularity, it may require a moment to remember other children-centered projects that don't immediately elicit a worried reaction. However, thanks surely to the success of 'Tiaras,' one of its most prominent starlets will lead a new "The Little Rascals" remake, just shy of twenty years after Penelope Spheeris' 1994 film. THR reports Eden Wood, Aka The One That Isn't Honey Boo Boo, has signed on to portray the role of Darla in the latest “Little Rascals” film, derived originally from producer Hal Roach's '20s and '30s B&W shorts. Wood, who like Ms. Boo was featured in her own spin-off entitled “Eden's World,” will count the part as her first cinematic foray, letting Dtv director Alex Zamm (“Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2”) attempt to scrounge some magic from...

Spanky, Alfalfa, Buckwheat, and the rest of the Little Rascals are getting another feature film treatment. Universal Pictures is planning another film, and they've hired Alex Zamm to direct it. Does the world really need another Little Rascals movie? No. But it's happening.
Did any of you like the 1994 Little Rascals big screen adaptation? I thought it was terrible. For those of you not even familiar with this franchise, it's based on a cinematic series called Our Gang, which aired during late 1930s and ‘40s. It was adapted for television in the '50s. I will say if that make this reboot a period piece that takes place in the '30s that might be interesting, but chances are they'll just give it a modern update for audiences like they did in '94.
As for the director, Zamm, there's a reason you've never heard of him, he's made films such as.

File this one under “I’m sorry, what?” Universal already made some unexpected mint with their Three Stooges reboot from earlier this year, so why not give that same treatment to something like, oh, how about The Little Rascals? What, you don’t care about The Little Rascals? Moviehole (via Cinema Blend) reports that Universal is rebooting the classic ’30s and ’40s television show Our Gang for a new feature that will also draw inspiration from the 1994 feature film that attempted to make the cute-kids-being-tricksters trope feel more modern, with surprisingly okay results (that one also came from Uni). The film doesn’t yet have a cast, but they’ve lined up one heck of a director. The new Rascals will be helmed by one Alex Zamm, possessor of one of the most boggling resumes in current circulation. Hey, someone needs to direct the straight-to-video Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, right? Right...

Just when you thought Eddie Murphy's career might be taking a tentative step back in the right direction with Brett Ratner's Tower Heist, along comes news that he is slumming it yet another low brow family film (which also happens to be produced by Ratner). It was announced this week that Murphy will be voicing the title character in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon Hong Kong Phooey. As you can probably guess, it will not be fully animated but rather another live-action / CG hybrid in the vein of Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Smurfs, and fellow Hanna-Barbera creation Yogi Bear. Alcon Entertainment founders Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove had this to say about the announcement: "We could not be happier that Eddie Murphy will star as Phooey. There is no overstating his contributions to cinema, and to such enduring stars of family entertainments such as Shrek and Dr.

As of late it seems like the folks at Hanna-Barbera are having a garage sale with the rights to their old TV shows. In the past few years we’ve seen a horrid adaptation of Yogi Bear, an even worse Smurfs film (with a 2nd coming 2013), and now Alcon pictures has decided to bring everybody’s number one super guy to the big screen. That’s right ladies and gentleman, I can only be talking about the one and only, Hong Kong Phooey.
Alcon Entertainment is indeed planning on a combination live action/animation rendition of the 70s classic which revolves around a mild mannered police station janitor who also doubles as a bumbling kung-fu practicing crime fighter. Alcon Entertainment has chosen Eddie Murphy to voice the role of this crime fighting pooch and perhaps this will be the film’s only saving grace. Murphy can be real hit or...

In what is surely an early warning of the pending 2012 apocalypse, Eddie Murphy has signed to give voice to the Hanna-Barbera character Hong Kong Phooey in a movie that will be a hybrid of live action and animation. Apparently, I was mistaken when I wrote that Hollywood had run out of available cartoons to remake, although I wish to God I wasn't.
If you don't remember, and there's no reason you should, Hong Kong Phooey was about a talking dog (voiced by Scatman Crothers) named Penry whose alter ego is Hong Kong Phooey, a superhero martial arts crime fighter. Penry worked as a janitor in a police station filled with humans, though no one found that fact unusual, and whenever there was a case the police couldn't crack (which was seemingly every case), Hong Kong Phooey would step in and inevitably screw things up, only to be saved by his pet cat,...

This admittedly silly film will definitely tickle the funny bone of dog lovers everywhere and most other people as well. The chihuahuas are great, and the puppies are even better. When audiences left Greg Heffley in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, he had The Cheese Touch - an affliction best described as extreme cooties. Zachary Gordon, who plays Greg, says the sequel "is not just about The Cheese Touch, it's about the relationship between Greg and Rodrick."
The "relationship" is not exactly touchy-feely brotherly love as evidenced by the title, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules. While Greg and Rodrick are constantly at war, their real-life counterparts take their on-camera rivalry to a different place. "The guy who plays Rodrick in the movie, Devon Bostick, we pull so many pranks on each other, it's really funny!" Zachary says.
Having fun on set is important to a kid actor because some of that "normal childhood" is lost. "I would say it's the price you pay as an actor, even when you miss out on your best friend's birthday party or a play date.

Vanessa Lemor (Savanah Wiltfong) is your typical not-so-typical teenager, going through life overly focused on a boy, Philip. In a relationship (of some sort), Vanessa is surprised when Philip suddenly breaks things off, and it quickly becomes difficult to decide which of them has a bigger Philip infatuation.
In her effort to reconnect with (stalk) Philip, Vanessa decides to transfer to his private school, and because of her half-Eskimo heritage, she manages a scholarship. Of course, things do not work out quite according to plan, and Vanessa finds herself instantly on the bottom of the social ladder. She has to find a way to claw her way up if she wants Philip to pay attention to her, but she soon begins to wonder if she wants Philip, or wants out of her popularity exile.
That's the short version of Dear Lemon Lima, a spin on the classic coming-of-age formula that...

Well it's another week and I'm back to bring you the data from last weeks sales and rentals in the DVD/Blu-ray department. This information comes from data compiled by Rentrak for the week ending February 6, 2011. Sadly, this week's results come with some bad news. Last week's best-selling movie was none other than...wait for it...Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2. Yea. Sad isn't it. Go ahead and take the time to let that soak in and mourn knowing what influence sales have on dictating what studios will create and release in the future.

There’s a really obvious point where filmmaking ceases to be an expression of art and becomes a source of entertainment. When you’re film hits that point, you have to make some effort to justify its existence. It’s not enough to be able to provide entertainment, because with that as your sole standard it’s hard to qualify success. If it keeps you watching for its full duration, does that constitute entertainment? Or does it require that the audience takes some pleasure from the experience? Certainly it’s subjective whether it is art or entertainment, but either way Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 doesn’t qualify as either. It’s devoid of story and carries on with writing that just might make your children stupider.
Some people love their dogs as if they were their children, and in extreme cases as if they were their equals. It’s this mindset that surrounds Chihuahua culture,...

Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 Illustrating the world's utter lack of good taste, 2008's Beverly Hills Chihuahua went on to gross over $145M, so you knew a sequel was coming. Thankfully this one is straight-to-dvd, but George Lopez is back for a second helping as the now married pup, Papi. How they got married is beyond me and I hope I never find out. "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" was a big hit back in 2008, but Disney's talking dog movies always are. Now they're serving up even more family-and-pet-friendly entertainment with its sequel, which just hits stores today.
"Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" brings back George Lopez as the voice of Papi in a new adventure which shows the newlywed dogs Chloe and Papi starting a family and having to come together when their human owners are in trouble.
Along with Lopez, the all-new movie also features the voice talents of Odette Yusman ("You Again"), Emily Osment ("Hannah Montana"), Bridgit Mendler ("Good Luck Charlie"). Zachary Gordon ("Diary of a Wimpy Kid"), and Miguel Ferrer.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Disney home video release without a music video by one of its Disney Channel stars, this time its Mendler's "This is My Paradise." Also included are bloopers, a sneak peek at Ashley Tisdale's upcoming "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure...

All About Eve / An Affair to Remember [Blu-ray] Both of these arrived just yesterday so I haven't had a chance to watch them just yet, but I absolutely cannot wait. All About Eve is a fantastic movie and I am praying the transfer is as great as I hope it to be. An Affair to Remember, however, I have not seen yet and can't wait to get my first glimpse.
One thing I'm happy to see is the boys at DVD Beaver give the image quality of both high marks, especially All About Eve. Alice in Wonderland (60th Anniversary Edition) I have a review of this forthcoming, but I can tell you right now this is an excellent Blu-ray and one I recommend any Disney fan pick up if they are even slightly considering adding it to their collection. More to come shortly.

A look at what's new on DVD today:
"Let Me In" (2010)
Directed by Matt Reeves
Released by Anchor Bay Entertainment
"Never Let Me Go" (2010)
Directed by Mark Romanek
Released by Fox Home Entertainment
Two of 2010's most underrated films that approach their respective genres from radically different perspectives than most, "Cloverfield" director Matt Reeves' "Let Me In" and Mark Romanek's "Never Let Me Go" will finally have the opportunity to stand out on home video. In "Let Me In," Reeves applies some of his own biographical touchstones for this remake of Tomas Alfredson's horror film about the unlikely friendship between a vampire (Chloe Moretz) and a lonely young boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee). Romanek's adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's much-beloved sci-fi novel about a group of children raised apart from the rest of society for purposes that are unknown to them. Hitting DVD and Blu-ray on February 1, 2011 comes Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 the sequel to your favorite film of 2008. You asked for more and you got it and I have a 4:49 minute sneak peek for you directly below, but be careful... February is two months out. Maybe only watch this one in one minute intervals so you don't burst from anticipation.
Who's in this one? While they were able to get George Lopez back to voice the lead chihuahua Papi the same can't be said for Drew Barrymore as the voice of Chloe, but they got the next best thing, Odette Yustman of You Again fame. Also starring are Zachary Gordon and Christine Lakin and IMDb even has Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters fame as part of the cast, perhaps he saw it as an opportunity to do a little press and try and stir up more buzz for that much ballyhooed Ghostbusters 3 feature.

If you have seen Paranormal Activity 2 then you are probably still awake from when you left the cinema, so how about using your insomnia constructively to read about the clever ‘ordinariness’ of the film’s costume design by Kristin M. Burke?
Kristin Burke is a costume designer with a packed IMDb resume including such diversity as The Cooler, Running Scared and Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2. With Paranormal Activity 2 (directed by Tod Williams) she faced the difficult task of creating a completely realistic look that would live or die on its credibility. If for one second we did not believe that what we saw on screen was real, the story would collapse.
Exclusively chatting to Clothes on Film from Los Angeles, Kristin Burke explains the reasoning behind her costume choices for the movie. Beware, there be Spoilers:
Clothes on Film, Chris: Paranormal Activity 2 was so scary it made me cry.

EW has posted a bunch of new still from upcoming movies like the Nicolas Cage/Nicole Kidman thriller "Trespass", the teenage science fiction film "I Am Number Four" (look for my set visit report posting soon), and more. One of the pictures was of Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 but George Lopez sucks so you'll have to look for that one on your own. There are also some pictures of an animated Glee cast joining The Cleveland Show, which gives you one more reason to not watch The Cleveland Show. Check out the pics followed by the EW provided descriptions. Click on any of the images to see the rest of the gallery. The oft-told Arthurian legend lives again in Starz' upcoming series Camelot (premiering next spring), which features New Moon's Jamie Campbell Bower (left) as the teenage King Arthur and Joseph Fiennes (right) as Merlin. As expected, there will be plenty of swordplay.

In May 2008, Warner Bros announced a feature film was being developed based on the Looney Tunes’ character Marvin the Martian. The live-action/CGI hybrid, scheduled for December 2010, is about how the cartoon alien travels to Earth to steal Christmas, but is foiled when he becomes trapped in a gift box.
The La Times’ Hero Complex is reporting Alex Zamm has come aboard as the director. Zamm is behind such gems as Dr. Dolittle 5: Million Dollar Mutts (I kid you not), Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, and an upcoming adaptation of “Hong Kong Phooey.” Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove are re-writing the script (and also working on CHiPs: The Movie).
The team is already talking to stars who’ll add voices to the cartoons, and Mike Myers’ name has popped up as a possibility for Marvin.

It was announced [1] last year that a CG/live-action movie based on the popular Looney Tunes character Marvin the Martian was on its way to becoming a reality. At the time, the project was still in the very early stages of development, with no writer or director attached, but now this week we have an update courtesy of the L.A. Times [2]. Apparently the movie is still happening, with Warner Brothers and producer Alcon Entertainment eyeing a Christmas 2011 release date. The holiday release date is essential since the story revolves around Marvin the Martian coming to Earth to destroy Christmas. No word on whether or not any other Looney Tunes characters will be involved (I'm hoping his loyal dog K-9 will at least have a part), but they have named Alex Zamm (Chairman of the Board, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2) as the director. Oh good. The script will be written...

Late Friday night, the Los Angeles Times Hero Complex Blog reported that director Alex Zamm is attached to helm a live-action Marvin the Martian film. Although Zamm hasn’t directed many films (the direct-to-video Inspector Gadget 2 stands out as the highlight of his career thus far), he is also currently attached to a film version of Hong Kong Phooey.
You heard that right, two classic cartoon characters are being remade for the big screen by one director with mostly direct-to-video experience. Sorry, correction, it’s not just direct-to-video movies. A quick look at IMDb shows that Zamm is also currently in post-production on Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2. Well, if that doesn’t put your mind to rest, I don’t know what will.

As much as I love Marvin the Martian, I'm not sure he's worth a feature film. In much the same way SNL sketches don't transfer to the big screen because the characters are designed to work for five minutes at a time, not 90. So a secondary cartoon character, one whose glory days are about 50 years old, may not be able to carry film, or open one, for that matter, which might be more important to Warner Bros.
The Los Angeles Times - a popular daily newspaper in southern California, if I'm not mistaken - says that the film has writers, Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove, who are also handling the script for a CHiPs movie, sure to have an Erik Estrada cameo. But the remake insanity doesn't end its connection to Marvin the Martian there. Hong Kong Phooey update director Alex Zamm has taken the reins on this film, too,...

Alex Zamm ("Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2") has been set to direct the film adaptation of Looney Tunes classic character Marvin the Martian for Warner Bros. Pictures and Alcon Entertainment says The La Times.
Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove (TV's "Spin City") are penning the script about Marvin coming to Earth to try to destroy Christmas, only to find his plans are foiled when he gets trapped inside a gift box.
Marvin will be a CG character surrounded by live-action actors such as in films like "Garfield" and "Alvin & The Chipmunks", and a star will voice the character with Mike Myers apparently coming up as a candidate.
Zamm is also signed on to direct "Hong Kong Phooey," the film version of the 1970s Hanna Barbera cartoon which will probably not get underway until 'Marvin' is complete.
'Marvin' is currently aiming for a Holiday 2011 release.
