This March, Hulk writer Greg Pak and artist Carlo Barberi (All New X-Men) will unleash a totally new chapter in Incredible Hulk #714 with World War Hulk II, bringing Amadeus Cho back to earth. But Amadeus has changed during his time on Sakaar – since his face-to-face meeting with Bruce Banner in Generations, Amadeus has had to wrestle with the true nature of his alter ego’s brutality and what it means for the world.
Now, unchained and unbridled, the former Totally Awesome Hulk is ready to take matters into his own hands. And as characters such as Black Panther and members of the Champions and Alpha Flight will learn, no one is prepared for what he will unleash on the Marvel Universe!
“What follows Planet Hulk II?” asks Executive Editor and Svp Tom Brevoort. “World War Hulk II, of course! To survive on the savage world of Sakaar, Amadeus Cho was...

The Weapon X program has done it, at the cost of their own destruction: they’ve completed their biggest and most dangerous experiment yet, a hybrid of Hulk and Wolverine DNA known as Weapon H. Now, he’s ready to take on the world – and he means business. Following his debut in Totally Awesome Hulk and Weapon X ‘s “Weapon of Mutant Destruction” summer crossover, Marvel have announced that the character will star in a new ongoing series coming in March from Totally Awesome Hulk/Weapon X writer Greg Pak and X-Men: Blue artist Cory Smith.
“Greg Pak wrote one of the biggest and most action packed Hulk stories ever in Planet Hulk…so it only made sense that he brought those same sensibilities to Weapon H,” said series editor Darren Shan. “We’re going to pit him against the biggest threats of the Marvel Universe that you can imagine,...

Thor: Ragnarok, the colorful new planet Sakaar may have felt strangely familiar to fans of comic books. "Sakaar is retro and strongly influenced by the comic book art that Jack Kirby did in the '60s, '70s and '80s," says production designer Dan Hennah, a five-time Academy Award nominee who claimed an Oscar for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Kirby, who died in 1994, didn't actually dream up Sakaar himself — the planet wasn't conceived until 2006 for the Planet Hulk comic book...

Standalone Thor films have never really received the love that most other Avengers’ solo films receive and with good reason as the films, up to now, have been either been boring (original Thor) or pretty to watch but ultimately forgettable (Thor: The Dark World). Thor: Ragnarok opened in North America on November 3rd and hoped to change that by taking a new approach by using comedy to liven up the forgettable film series.
This time, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) must not only tangle with his mischievous brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), but also Hela, the God of Death (Cate Blanchett) as she tries to continue what Odin (Anthony Hopkins) stopped her from doing centuries ago, rule the universe. Along the way,...

Thor: Ragnarok is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining McU films to date, and a big reason why is because it’s busting with ideas, with the movie acting as a kind of blend of various different comic book storylines. Apart from dealing with the events of Ragnarok, there’s a lot of Planet Hulk in it, too, as well as bits of recent Thor comics from writer Jason Aaron.
With the net cast so wide for comic book inspiration, then, it’s not surprising that the threequel is stuffed full of easter eggs, callbacks and references to a huge variety of Marvel characters, creators and stories. As you’ve surely heard – and probably seen, too – one individual who’s nodded to is Beta Ray Bill – a fan favorite hero from the comics who possesses the rare quality of being worthy enough to wield Mjolnir.

As the incredible success of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe has shot through the roof since their first big hit in 2008’s Iron Man, there is this notion that the studio has had a flawless filmography ever since. Especially considering the perceived failure (The Dark Universe – though it is very early days) and mixed success (The Dceu) of other aspiring movie universes, that have had a harder time next to mighty Marvel and their forward planning, constant critical praise and box office displays. However, this is not necessarily the case, despite all the brilliant films the McU has spawned (and there have been a great many), there have been a couple of missteps like Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3 and – for many – the Thor films have been a point of contention.

Arise, Jane Foster, rightful wielder of Mjölnir?
That’s a changeover that has already occurred in Marvel Comics, but what are the chances of Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder giving way to Miss. Foster on the big screen? Fairly slim, we imagine, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s off the table.
Not only is Karl Urban (Star Trek, Dredd) a big fan of the idea, but Kevin Feige himself recently weighed in on the possibility of a female-led Thor movie. Currently in the midst of promoting Ragnarok, the Marvel boss admitted that the studio’s pool of writers always “look back to the comics” as their primary source of inspiration, hence the decision to adapt the likes of “Planet Hulk” and “Civil War.” Could “Original Sin” be next in line for the big-screen treatment?

When it came time to build a third standalone “Thor” feature, Marvel brass had a few different elements that they felt were necessary for inclusion, all the better to bolster the superhero’s solo power after the relative disappointment of “Thor: The Dark World.” Mostly, there needed to be more humor, the kind that could capitalize on star Chris Hemsworth’s growing acclaim as a comedian, but not feel out of place in the McU as a whole. And perhaps the big guy needed a buddy, too, a fellow superhero also capable of teasing out both humor and pathos.
As Marvel president Kevin Feige explains, the franchise found an unlikely connection between those aims and a favorite piece of comic book lore. First up, though, “Thor: Ragnarok” needed to be its own thing, and get away from a predecessor that didn’t quite tap into what makes the Asgardian god...

There is no doubt that Thor is one of the most popular Marvel characters to grace the pages of comic books and movies. The character has seen various storylines and most recently we saw Jane Foster take on the mantle of Thor. Movie.com recently asked Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige if we would ever see a female version of Thor appear in the Marvel movies. This was his reply:
"We always look back to the comics to get those ideas ... sometimes very specific storylines like Civil War, sometimes just nuggets or characters like Planet Hulk. So anything that's happened in the comics, even a female Thor, become great potentials and the ideas from which future movies can be born.
Feige and Team Marvel are wisely keeping their future plans under wraps for now, but in a way, they are already working on what comes next. Feige went on to say:

Who among us could have imagined when Sir Kenneth Branagh directed the first Thor movie as a buttoned-up Shakespearian drama, that a key set piece in the franchise's threequel would involve an interdimensional wormhole called The Devil's Anus? Or following the dreary sequel, Thor: The Dark World, with its villainous Dark Elves and their threat of eternal darkness, that one of the antagonists in the third film would be an Edm-spinning DJ?
Marvel Studios, which already had hits this year with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming, has established such a solid track record by now that it has the confidence to take big swings. For Thor: Ragnarok, that meant handing the keys to the franchise over to indie film director Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople), who seems to have realized that instead of changing Thor to fit the film's mold, he could let the movie be as weird as Thor required.

A false internet story actually led to a slight change in Avengers: Age Of Ultron's ending...
Spoilers lie ahead for Avengers: Age Of Ultron
There was a sense come the end of Marvel’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron of a slightly muddled film, that certainly lacked the coherence of the first Avengers outing. It was implied at the time that there were several people having input into the story and final cut of the movie. But in a new interview, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has admitted that an internet leak had its part to play.
The ending of the movie as it stands sees Hulk heading off in a Quinjet to try and find some space. He’s described as being heading over the Caspian Sea when the Avengers lose his signal, and that’s the last we hear of him until Thor: Ragnarok.

Well, this will certainly have comic book fans standing up and taking notice. Providing they weren’t already, of course.
James Gunn, writer and director on Guardians of the Galaxy and its zany sequel, has posted his verdict of Thor: Ragnarok to Twitter, deeming the Marvel threequel to be a “stunningly fun and hilarious” addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
First spotted by ComicBook.com, Gunn’s Tweet falls in line with the early critical consensus, after the director likened Ragnarok to a “modern-but-maybe-even-better” Buckaroo Banzai or Flash Gordon. Talk about high praise, not that we didn’t see it coming.

Much like Spider-Man: Homecoming or indeed any other Marvel movie before it, Thor: Ragnarok is approaching that critical stage in its lifecycle where the Powers That Be tend to pump out countless last-minute promos in order to fan the flames of excitement.
Launch one trailer too many, though, and you risk overexposure, and there have been plenty of examples in the past where studios have ostensibly spoiled their blockbusters prior to release. Terminator: Genisys, we’re looking at you.
Granted, Marvel tends to have a pretty good track record when it comes to skating around spoilers and sure enough, the latest promo for Thor: Ragnarok has arrived to prove it. Edited in a similar fashion to yesterday’s rousing TV spot, in which the God of Thunder formed a team of so-called Revengers, the above teaser does contain a sliver of new footage, though you needn’t worry about encountering any tangible story clues.

Much digital ink has been spilled over Thor: Ragnarok and its ties to Planet Hulk.
How has Greg Pak’s beloved comic influenced the story, if at all? Does Ragnarok feature any particular character plucked from the arc? And will Bruce Banner’s time on Sakaar lay the foundations for a Hulk solo movie? Granted, it appears the answer to that question is a straight up ‘no’, but those hoping to see a whole new side of the Jade Giant are in luck.
Due to light up theaters on November 3rd, Taika Waititi’s spacefaring romp was recently named as the most-anticipated movie of the fall season – ahead of Justice League, no less – and at least according to Mark Ruffalo, it’ll present the Hulk to us like we’ve never seen him before.

In terms of publicity, this has been an inspired choice – and is one borne of a decision to make that scene the central motif of the movie.

As we all know, Thor: Ragnarok uses elements of Planet Hulk to tell a story of Thor and Hulk teaming up to fight Hela and prevent Ragnarok from destroying Asgard. Early on in the film, Thor ends up on the planet of Sakaar when he comes face to face with The Hulk in the gladiator arena to battle it out.
Even though we know Thor ends up on Sakaar, we still have no idea how he exactly gets there. A lot of fans just assume that he was banished there by Hela, but according to executive producer Brad Winderbaum there's so much more to it and it involves an "amazing sequence." If you don't want to know the teasing details then don't read ahead.
Winderbaum begins by saying:
"Basically there's any number of ways that one can end up on Sakaar. And a lot of times if someone - the...

Granted, it appears the answer to that question is a straight up ‘no’, but during an interview with Screen Rant, one conducted on the film’s Gold Coast set last year, producer Brad Winderbaum recalled the ways in which Planet Hulk had a bearing on Thor: Ragnarok. And it’s not what you might expect.
Rather than pitch Ragnarok as a one-to-one adaptation of Pak’s comic book line, it would seem the connective tissue between Taiki Waititi’s story and that of Planet Hulk is more incidental than intentional. Guess Ragnarok won’t be the...

If recent Thor: Ragnarok posters came under fire for allegedly ripping off Batman V Superman, then Marvel’s new slate of character posters has arrived to remind us of two very important things: Taika Waititi’s blockbuster threequel is undoubtedly one of the most stylish McU movies to date, and the Ragnarok casting department ought to be commended for assembling such a diverse group of A-listers.
Embedded below, there are eight one-sheets in total, and each one is as stylish as the next. From Thor to Valkyrie to Hela, Cate Blanchett’s unruly Goddess of Death, Thor: Ragnarok‘s principal characters are each given their time in the limelight (or should that be neon-colored smoke?) in anticipation of November 3rd. That’s little under two months away and sure enough, tickets for Marvel’s third and final film of 2017 are now on sale.

Two months out from release, and the exhaustive marketing campaign for Thor: Ragnarok is now beginning to enter the final stretch. And it’s just as well, too, lest Marvel spoil the entirety of Taika Waititi’s intergalactic road trip.
Dubbed the buddy cop movie of the McU, Ragnarok is all about pushing the God of Thunder like he’s never been pushed before. Set a full four years after the events of The Dark World – and two after Age of Ultron, for those keeping track – Waititi’s first entry in the ever-evolving franchise begins with the Norse god confronting evil at his doorstep. Hela, Goddess of Death, has descended upon Asgard to claim Odin’s throne as her own, and despite his best efforts, Thor is unable to put an end to her devastating siege.

If there’s one thing that has comic book fans beside themselves with excitement for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok, it’s the promise of Planet Hulk.
Greg Pak’s super-stylish series first hit store shelves back in 2006, when the sun-scorched plains of Sakaar captured the imagination of Marvel fans the world over. But given the Powers That Be have ostensibly ruled out the possibility of a solo Hulk movie existing within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many believed that the Planet Hulk storyline would remain exclusive to the world of comic books. Enter Taika Waititi.
Fresh off his celebrated work across What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt For the Wilderpeople, Waititi is another example of Marvel Studios swinging their doors open to a niche director, and handing them the keys to a bona fide blockbuster. With Ragnarok, Taika Waititi is placing his own stamp on the God of Thunder’s third solo adventure,...

Many comic book fans have been critical of DC and Marvel for not sufficiently supporting their film releases. A long-standing goal of the comics' publishing side of the business is to build and increase comic book readership on the back of each new film, but more often than not the storylines in the comics are vastly different from the events in the films. For example, in the comics, Captain America is currently an agent of Hydra and Sam Wilson bears Cap's shield... not exactly a smooth on-ramp for new readers coming out of the Captain America: Civil War movie.
Flip the mirror around and one could make a similar case against the films failing to engage the core comic readers with versions of Marvel and DC heroes and villains who look and sound like the source comic's versions. We all know what happened with the latest Fantastic Four debacle. Fortunately,...

This year’s Summer event, Secret Empire has always been brimming with political imagery. It all kicked off last year, with writer Nick Spencer launching a controversial arc. Captain America’s life, he revealed, had been rewritten. Steve Rogers was an agent of Hydra. The politics were obvious; in the year of a contentious Presidential election, Spencer was using comics to discuss American self-identity. To say it kicked off a furore on social media would be an understatement.
Secret Empire #6 embraces that political concept like never before. It features a number of lengthy diatribes, including one where Steve Rogers attempts to persuade the Hulk to side with Hydra. They’re standard villain monologues, but the concept is disturbingly recognizable. You’ll find more than a hint of Donald Trump’s philosophy in Spencer’s HydraCap.
This issue is presented as the turning point. We see this twisted version of Captain America...

Last week we raised some big questions about the Hulk's role in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok movie, based on actor Mark Ruffalo's recent terse and open-ended Twitter post. Ruffalo briefly hinted at the resolution to Hulk vs. Thor gladiator-style fight, which only added to the hype, but failed to provide much context. McU fans have big expectations for Hulk's development over the next several films, but right now there's not much intel to go on.
During this past weekend's D23 expo in Anaheim, California Fandango ran into Mr. Ruffalo and goaded him into revealing a bit more about Hulk's upcoming arc. This time, however, he describes things with a bit more color, specifically what we can expect in the (recently wrapped) Avengers: Infinity War. You can watch the video from Twitter below:

Of all the comic book characters that feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s arguably the treatment of The Hulk that makes the least sense.
This icon of popular culture was the focus of the second instalment in the juggernaut franchise – 2008’s The Incredible Hulk – but has essentially been relegated to the status of supporting role ever since. Along with Thor, the hero was entirely absent from Captain America: Civil War, having flown off into the sunset as Sad Hulk at the end of Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
His absence will soon be explained in Thor: Ragnarok – due for release on November 3rd – but the frustration of Hulk fans around the world continues to grow. Let’s teach Marvel about spoilers.
Does Marvel know what spoilers are? We’re skeptical. On the subject of the title of the follow-up movie of Avengers: Infinity War, a yet untitled sequel, they appear to be confused. Yesterday, Cinema Blend published an interview with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who answered the direct question of “I’m curious if the reason [they’re not going to announce the title] is because it’s a spoiler” with “Yeah, for sure.”
This led to all sorts of speculation as to what kind of spoiler would be so hot that Marvel wouldn’t want to release the title of the Infinity War sequel until after we’ve seen the first movie. For a time, it was fun. Then later in the day, a BBC News reporter talked to Zoe Saldana on the red carpet for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, who said that after Infinity War, they had to go back for Gauntlet. This...

Dear Marvel, thank you for making this year something to look forward to. First you showed me a wonderful trailer of Thor: Ragnarok, which made me feel like comic book movies are finally starting to be like comic books, and now, thanks to /Film, I find out that the director of Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Watiti, who is an actor as well, is set to play Korg in the Movie!
So first off, if you don't know Taika Watiti, check out What We Do In the Shadows. It's a fantastic film that really shows off Taika's brilliance in comedy and timing. He plays just such a happy and friendly vampire.
Now, some information about Korg for those of you who don't really know who he is. Korg played a part in the Marvel Comics' Planet Hulk, which as you know was a huge influence in developing the story for Thor: Ragnarok.

Although it had been alluded to for some time that gladiator-style battles between Thor and Hulk would take place, none of the promo art that teased the epic showdown was quite like seeing the first bits of footage. And knowing that the Planet Hulk comic book arc served as one of the film’s major influences, it’s only natural that some of the characters seen within its pages find their way to the silver screen.
