Alex Nigo's slaughterhouse-scrappy cat and mouse chase thriller nails the art of the kill in Passages of Nexus. Unfortunately, it's too long, too disjointed, and more like a vision board of ideas that never find their connective tissue. Nexus earns points with extreme practical gore effects and a dedication to making its audience wince. It's stark and cold in some ways, but loose and playful in others, with cutaways indicated through perfectly pitched dark humour. Pushing its nastiest elements a little further might have made it more permanently rattle the soul, but POA will still leave you suitably shook up.
