Artists Rafael Petardi & Thea Saccoliti create such a factually accurate & yet heart warming portrayal of the gut wrenching loss of one's entire life. Being a foster child and immediately living with strangers following the loss of a parent is not something many people would understand, nor be able to portray so completely with such depth and personality, especially in a film less than 90 minutes long. To jump headfirst into the plot of a man who has just lost his entire life, his entire love, his entire purpose - with no backstory? And yet, Rafael portrays the immediate showing & understanding of the deep trauma attached in the daily moment to moment living one goes through following such events, being expected to live on after such incredible loss. Both Thea & Rafael pull off the above expressions seemingly effortlessly, and even somehow are able to, amidst such sorrowful subject matter, scatter heartwarming and even humorous moments throughout. With all the repeat renditions and copycat films out there nowadays, Producer Orlin Dobreff brings to life a refreshing new plot and artistically introduces the thematic elements in a way that make this film a delight to watch, and somehow leave you with an intriguing desire to watch more. Maybe they'll figure out a way to make a sequel? One can only hope ;)
Appreciated this movie and rated it a 10/10, as I anticipate you and your family will enjoy it just as much as mine did!
My wife and I found this movie streaming on Prime, it was our choice for our Saturday evening movie after our weekly steak and wine dinner, with chocolate cake for dessert, of course. We found it to be a nice, worthwhile viewing experience.
Set and filmed in small town California, a widower named Charles, is lost in grief and living in his garage. He finds a new purpose when he befriends Valerie, a foster teenager next door. The film's emotional core, powered by the lead actors' authentic performances, is its greatest strength. It tackles heavy topics like loss and the foster system but balances the sadness with genuinely heartwarming moments, flying s drone or learning photography. The story is straightforward but the solid acting and focus on a compassionate human connection make it an above-average watch. It's a message of hope, proving even small bonds can change everything.
A running theme includes photography but I must mention, "depth of field" is not a function of focus as implied, instead it is a function of aperture, the smaller the aperture the greater the apparent dept of field.

Felt like I was being sedated with the sound track; which was the best part of the movie. Could have used more emotional content, nothing unexpected here. Everyone has a half a foot in this movie and the other foot and a half in something else like a commercial that forgot the product they were trying to sell. Life is painful so the little joys in life we get should be cherished; If you like boring movies that have a very low budget than this is for you. Recommend u fall asleep at the beginning and maybe see last few minutes.
Nobody is tackling the topics that Penwheel Universe is tackling... in the industry our counterparts tend to shy away from topics that make us feel uncomfortable. That is where director John F. Uranday shines and Producer Bobby Cloud holds the light. This time it's youth troubles in foster care. A young lady that after losing her mother nobody seems to want in their home. I see it in real life but have never seen it on a script and I applaud not only the idea and work presented, but the courage it takes to acknowledge that there is teenage youth out there that nobody wants and we are here to bring it to the forefront through filmmaking and do our part to change that narrative. You also see a man's side of hurt, pain and sorrow. A widower, the anguish and sadness is felt so deep when portrayed by actor Rafael Petardi. His tears become my own everytime I watch it. Both of these worlds intertwining onscreen makes for a Grade A+ feature that you are gonna need a big box of tissue no matter how many times you watch it. Excellent work all around. I can't wait to see what's next!!!
The movie is sweet, but it is very slow paced and drags. Seems to be low budget with average to poor acting, writing, and directing.
The plot is about Charles, who has gone through a terrible loss, is depressed, and is isolating and himself. Charles' neighbors are a temporary foster care placement home and they take in a new teen girl, Val, going through her own pain and loss. Val pushes her way into Charles life and the two begin to form a bond and healing through their friendship.
Touching, but needed more tension and depth IMHO!
