I aim to save you some time here. Don't watch this movie. It is the sort of story where you think that you will stick with as something is bound to happen in the next five minutes. I am here to tell you that absolutely nothing happens for the first 90 minutes. I'm serious, there is just idle chat and people acting pretty stupid. Really, that is it, just nothing interesting at all.
The movie desperately tries to up the ante in the last 20 minutes but fails miserably as it is more like a comedy than a horror. Oh and there is some terrible overacting in the finale too. It was also hilarious that when the 'Monster' finally appeared the lights suddenly went out and starting flickering to basically hide the dodgy effects. This has a mark on here of 6.7 and this is a fix, trust me as 'Everwinter Night' is crap.

The 10/10 star reviews must have come from people associated with the film itself. Calling this movie a "Classic" or anything else positive is garbage. I couldn't even finish it. Frankly, I'm not even sure what the hell this movie is about and I watched 3/4 of it! Definitely NOT a horror movie. The writing is terrible which contributed to the confusion about what exactly the movie was about. The acting was pretty bad. Only the main actress had a bit of talent. So I hope you will do yourself a favor and skip this one. I wish I could get my time back. I guess I know now why a 2023 movie went straight to Tubi streaming?

Please take my advice and skip it. It was so boring that even at the climax ending I used fast-forward to get over with it.
It has nothing to offer. The story sucks and so does the script and the acting. After half an hour you hope that something will come up but it doesn't untill the last 5 minutes and what a dissapointment!
Some guys praisint it must be out of their minds. Comparing it to the Evil Dead! And classic comedy! Where the hell is that comedy?!
I guess people have diffrent tastes but this one must be the norm for bad taste.
Better spend your time elsewhere.
Don't say you were not warned.

Trying to have a weekend trip together, a group of girlfriends are coerced into joining a group of frat guys at a mountain lodge where they're holding a special party, but when they start to believe the men have invited them there for a different reason must try to solve it and leave before it happens.
This was an abominably awful genre effort without much to like here. The only positive to be had here is the final few minutes where it actually has something going on that requires genuine genre thrills. Realizing what the full extent of the gathering is about, the occult ritual and demnic creature being summoned has a grat atmosphere to go along with some frenetic action involving the bodies getting ripped apart in gruesome fashion. The imagery and atmosphere of what's going on makes for a fun time here with this being the only part where something happens and the bloodshed occurs, but it's still not enough with it being too little too late. There's quite a lot to dislike with this one. The irritating characters that are impossible to care about or root for with their braindead banter or holier-than-thou attitudes, mysterious dialog that's supposedly meant to be funny or the sheer lack of anything thrilling happening makes this one excruciating to get through. As none of the characters are unlikable, with the girls being obnoxious party-girls willing to do anything at the drop of a hat because their company has money and the sensible one is a wet-blanket worry-wart upset over any change of plans while the men are hierarchy-focused beta-males trying to carry out this secretive ritual that is never explained so the group here is immensely hard to get behind. On top of that, there's nothing here that's really all that focused on the antics of the group that it doesn't have much of anything interesting happening. With the majority of the running time spent on getting the group established, what the ceremonial gathering is about and the different interactions possible, it takes so long before anything gets spelled out and revealed that it's just not entirely exciting anymore. With so much of the running time spent on aspects not even remotely interesting at all and a group of characters we're not in the slightest bit interested in, these elements all manage to drag this one down incredibly well.
Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Graphic Violence.

I was initially intrigued by the movie's cover and it's title. Sure, I had never heard about the movie, but it seemed like a horror movie that might prove interesting enough. And given my love and fascination with all things horror, of course I opted to give the movie a chance.
The storyline in "Everwinter Night" was a massive swing and a miss. There was nothing entertaining enough it as it dragged on with its pointless narrative. And I am not kidding when I am saying that there was nothing worthwhile to sit through as director Adam Newman stumbled about like a bull in a fine porcelain store. It was difficult to sit through this borefest of a movie.
In fact, I endured a staggering 73 minutes of absolute boredom out of a total of its 105 minutes total runtime. By then I was just bored to tears. There literally was no point to the storyline that writers Chris Goodwin and Adam Newman had put together.
I was not familiar with the actors and actresses on the cast list. But I will say that the acting performances were fair enough, just a shame that the actor and actresses had nothing wholesome to work with in terms of script, dialogue, characters or contents.
Do yourself a favor and give "Everwinter Night" a wide berth. It just simply isn't worth the time of day. Some of us suffered through this dumpster fire of a movie so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.
My rating of director Adam Newman's 2023 borefest of a movie titled "Everwinter Night" lands on a one out of ten stars.

What a build up, some of the best drama I have ever seen. You will be rewinding this I promise you.
A great and diverse selection of single adults here that are enough to carry any horror movie right up to it.
Incredible dialogue, each character must surely have been allowed to write their own lines.
You have never seen relationships and marriages flying about like this in your life.
It gets sinister fast and then decides to have fun instead, during which, there are only vague references to trouble and one dramatic sequence.
It all comes out at the end and oh my god what on earth is happening!
I can only say that a serious ending might have cast doubt on some of the greatest fun ever. For a horror fan however, such frivilous safety will cost an otherwise 8+/10 movie a couple of points.
With soo much fun being had one wonders why even make this a horror movie.

Everwinter Night is a fantastic call back to classic comedy horrors such as the Evil Dead without being a carbon copy. It hits all the right points with plenty of twists to keep you guessing! It's stylish, keeps a great pace throughout, and gets even better on a second viewing when you know what's to come. The cast is phenomenal, they create a group of interesting characters that really bring the film to life. The performances elevate Everwinter Night beyond just a horror comedy to become a drama that sucks you in. I can't recommend this film enough. Worth the watch, the rewatch, and the annual Halloween watch. If you're looking for a fun film that gives you laughs, drama, thrills and blood spills: Watch this movie.

This was a movie that I got to see thanks to Alex DiVencenzo from Simply Legendary Publicity who sent over a screener. When I glanced at this to see that it was horror, that was enough for me to check out. This one took a bit of research as it look like this has two showings in 2023, so I will consider it a Traverse through the Threes. This is getting a wide release though for 2024 eligibility from everything else that I've seen.
Synopsis: lifelong best friends, Maddy (McKenna Parsons) and V (Victoria Mirrer), set out for a relaxing vacation. When their old college clique hijack their plans, V finds herself at a remote ski lodge where a group of mysterious wealthy men throw a celebration a century in the making.
We start this off back in 1994 in New Hampshire. A couple is trying to find their way to a friend's house. They're lost though. This causes them to stop off at a lodge to use the bathroom and ask for directions. Running the front desk is Harold (Johnny Halloran). He tries to get them to leave, but instead they discover something that is going on upstairs.
This then shifts to the present. V is sitting at a table in a diner waiting for Maddy. She finally joins and seems distracted. The reason is that she already had plans with Fiona (Nicolette Sweeney) and Becca (Alana Phillips). This upsets V who makes faces at her friend but doesn't speak up. They're supposed to be going to a spa for a relaxing trip. Instead, these two met Tony (Eddie Nason) and Ford (Jay Voishnis) at the bar. They invited them to a lodge that they're partying at for the weekend. Everything is paid for so the duo along with Maddy think they should try it out.
Things then get weird from here. At first it just seems that way due to the group being rich and flaunting it. Maddy is intrigued by Erik (Chris Goodwin) who is in charge. V does meet Jack (Jamie Dufault) who is the bartender. His dad is also Harold. There are others here like Charlie (Sean T. Ward) and his wife, Cailyn (Sarah Nicklin). There's also Priscilla (Francesca Shipsey), Larson (Anthnoy Gaudette) and others. V doesn't fit in and wants to leave. The rest of them are having a good time. By not being enamored, V starts to notice odd things that are happening and dark secrets. This trip will change everyone's lives forever.
That is where I'm going to leave my recap and introduction to the characters. Where I want to start is that this has a good build up and setting. We have this isolated lodge. It is in the New England area during the winter so it would be difficult to leave without a vehicle. It is also cold. We don't feel that unless the characters head outside. That is still looming though when they do. There is also the idea here that the group that is hosting the party is rich and powerful, which is scary when you aren't part of that group. What works well here is that we have Becca and Fiona pushing it. They see free food, drinks and guys that they can hit on. Maddy gets sucked in with her attraction toward Erik. It is only V who is taking a step back and seeing where the horror builds. She is our representation of what is happening.
Where I want to go from there is that this is a slow burn. I'd say that it is a bit too slow for my liking. What is interesting there though is I get sucked into what the characters are doing. I'll be honest though. This could be trimmed down to an hour and a half. If it is, it works better. This falls too much into using comedic elements with Fiona, Tony, Becca and the guys she is flirting with. There's also this recurring guy who hits on V. The better light heartened moments come from Maddy and V when they sit down to talk. Also, the women interacting with Erik and Jack as well. I think that we just need a bit more horror and a little less banter for this to build the necessary atmosphere.
Now when this gets to horror, I'm there. We have this group of rich guys who are a cult. From the opening sequence, we know that they're doing a ritual here. What that is takes time to be revealed. This is strategic as well to give information as we go to fill in back-story. There were little things that get said that I picked up that these guys might be living longer than normal lives. Also, there is this odd scene where Fiona pours her heart out and what Tony does is shocking. This also gets explained. I wanted to give credit here as this aspect kept my interest to piece this together.
Where I want to take this then is the acting. I thought that Mirrer was good as our lead. What I like about her is that she is reserved. She makes comments about Maddy and Jack, which to be honest, made me like her more. The older I get, the more like her I am. She's also cute. Parsons is good as her friend who is trying to have fun while also not upset her friend. They've grown apart in life while still clinging on to being friends. I like Nicklin, Shipsey, Sweeney and Phillips as the other women at this lodge. Goodwin is good as the leader of the cult. I thought the other members were solid. I don't know all their names but watching them all bring different things to their characters. I also liked Dufault. Him and V play well off each other. The acting here is good across the board. My only issue is that at times it seems like they decide to go too comedic which turns messes with the tone and it feels odd. Not sure it fits where this ultimately goes.
All that is left then is filmmaking. I thought that the cinematography was good. They capture the feeling that this is in an isolated location. The cold helps to build the atmosphere there. This does have a bit of a cheaper look, but that's probably just being low budget and shot digital. No glaring issue there. I thought that the effects we got were subdued. That's fine since this is more about the concept and atmosphere. We got a bit of CGI, but that wasn't an issue for me. Other than that, I thought the soundtrack worked for what was needed.
In conclusion, this is a movie that I should love. It has concepts that that work for me like a cult doing a ritual. There is a good back-story that gets revealed as this goes on. You could even consider this to have an element of cosmic horror. The isolated setting with it being winter was good. The acting for the most part was as well. There are times that it goes more on the comedic side. This is made well enough. The cinematography leading the way there. The biggest issue is that this runs too long and is too slow to fully capture the feeling that it needs. Still, I'd recommend it if you like the aspects that were positive here.

As this film opens a couple stop off at a remote New England lodge to ask for directions... they don't come out alive. Thirty years later old friends Maddy and V are going away for a spa holiday together; things don't go to plan as Maddy's college friends, who V didn't know had been invited, show up and say that a group of wealthy young men had invited them all to stay with them for a few days at an exclusive lodge. V isn't pleased and it isn't long before displeasure becomes concern that something is off about their hosts. By the time we learn just how off they are it may be too late.
I thought this was a decent enough, if somewhat overlong, horror film. It opened well in the short prologue before introducing the main characters. V and Maddy are likeable, unlike Maddy's college friends who are irritating from the moment they show up. The premise is solid enough if not the most original and once at the lodge it drags somewhat more than necessary before the gory denouement. The cast is okay; I particularly thought Victoria Mirrer did a good job as V. The effects may have been fairly low budget and confined to the finale but it was nice to see physical effects rather than obvious CGI. Overall I'd say this is far from a must see but it isn't terrible either; worth watching once if you enjoy the genre.

My wife and I really loved this movie! The opening stinger has a Vacancy vibe - the two actors are great (Topher Hansson is one of my favorite indie horror stars) Once the main story starts up, it's a slow build where you really get to hang out with the characters. There are excellent, natrual performances by all the performers. The estimated budget is $60,000 but the production value is top notch.
The chemistry between the leads is great. You feel like you're stumbling into their lives.
The film takes some patience but if you are willing to sit through the first couple of story days, you are rewarded with a big finale. I definitely found it fun! My wife screamed "no!" in the final act after something that I won't spoil, and she might have actually cried!
Overall, both my wife and I were huge fans of this and will check it out again soon.

Caught this one on Tubi and have to admit that it took a little while to get going but it grew on me. Typically don't watch slower burns but this one was different and the ending is a certified banger. Everybody was believable - really well acted from top to bottom. Cinematography was top notch for something that sounds like it had a smaller budget. Setting was cool. And yeah, it takes a lit bit, but once it rolls into the last act, the blood is flying and it's a hell of a time.
Can't wait to check this one out again to see how all the threads work. Definitely check this one out if you like your horror with a bit of drama. A real indie gem.

This movie is super fun and such a creepy story! It starts with a familiar type of plotline of childhood friends meeting back up after a while and then immediately starts to unravel into a crazy supernatural world of mystery and chaos. The characters are really relatable and the whole story is really well written. The setting and atmosphere is incredibly spooky and gives great eerie vibes to the film. There are a few funny moments but tons of edge-of-your-seat action. I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for an original. Not your typical "cabin in the woods" type of film. I can definitely see this becoming a cult classic.

An instant favorite in my mind with plenty of scares and laughs alike. Already considering working this into my yearly halloween rotation. Really entertaining the whole time whether due to suspense, scares, and comedy. Watch this movie if you are looking for a throwback to classic horror films while having enough originality to keep things interesting. This movie will pull you right in waiting to to see what happens next and does an excellent job at creating a world which you are dying to know more about. The cinematography and editing were top-notch, and a nice consistent pace throughout until it ramps up at the end for the grand finale.
"Everwinter Night" is a brilliant blend of horror and comedy, skillfully crafted by Adam Newman. The film captivates audiences with its unique balance between chilling moments and comedic relief.
This film cleverly invokes traditional horror tropes while infusing humor.
The sharp dialogue and quirky characters invite laughter even in tense situations, enhancing the emotional impact of the narrative.
At its heart, "Everwinter Night" encourages viewers to confront their fears through an unconventional lens. Newman's innovative approach not only entertains but also prompts introspection, making this film a must-watch for fans of the horror-comedy genre.
