The movie is based on the Brazilian TV series Normal People (2001), that lasted for 3 seasons, from 2001 to 2003. This is the second spin-off from the show (the first one was Os Normais: O Filme (2003)). After this movie's release, a fourth season of the series was confirmed to 2010, also starring Luiz Fernando Guimarães and Fernanda Torres.
Had the largest domestic opening for a Brazilian movie in 15 years, coming out in 360 theaters.
