The Director, writer and producer Camila Hepplin once faced a man trying to robber her on the streets. That was her inspiration for Pietra's reaction when she saw Machete the day after been robbed.
The lead actor, Heraldo de Deus, once was robbed by a man carrying a machete in a bus on his way home. By the time Camila Hepplin invited him to be his lead character she did not know about the incident. Heraldo lost his cellphone at the time.
