This short was so good that I wished it was feature length. The mood - the story line - the staging/lighting/locations - all complemented two solid actresses!
It is rare to see such a consistently high quality across all aspects of a film. Having this happen in a debut short is a testament to how good a director Ravenna Tran is!
I want more!
More of this director, more of these actors, more of this quality !!!

This brought me right back to my childhood in Japan. The scenery is so elegantly shot; they really bring the best out of every location.
It's also very well written! Any person caught between two cultures - never really belonging to either - will be able to see their worries and hopes in this short film.
Plus, more japanese queer representation! We DO exist!

A short story that I connected with deeply on a number of levels: The desire to leave where I am and grow as a person outside of what I've always known. Being a Bi woman who is part of a family that isn't accepting of anything outside the heteronormative, to see a same sex relationship unfold and portrayed in a nuanced "normal" way with characters who aren't sensationalised gives me hope.
The story they were able to tell within the time limitations they had was beautiful.

I felt absolutely swept away by And Then, such an unapologetically heartfelt story told with care and detail in the time it had. Much needed quality representation on the big screen - I teared up more than once, and not always simply for the wonderfully genuine performances from both actresses.
