Like "The Bachelorette", this reality show is about bachelors competing for and wooing a beautiful, single female. But there are differences.
"The Courtship" sets the action in the Regency Era, with appropriate customs and manners. Also, the family of the bachelorette accompanies her and is involved in the winnowing of her suitors. Just having them on the premises changes the tone from a hottub-cocktail, club atmosphere to a more sensible undertaking.
I really appreciate that the producers selected men who are serious at getting serious with the lady. And there is a tone of civility between the men. Watching is like viewing a period rom-com involving characters you like.

The premise of the show is finding true romantic love and happiness. That's not what this show gives you. It's cheesy and boring. But however, this is better than Tinder and all of those stupid dating tv shows.

I was so excited when I first heard about this show because there's just something about the Regency era in terms of courtship. I love that Ms. Remy's family and best friend are there to help with deciding on the suitors, it allows for her to gain perspective on the guys from those she loves and trusts, and I love their interactions. This show has drama and romance so I'd say it makes good for reality tv and that's what you are expecting and wanting from a romance reality show. So, I'm really happy with it and yes, I am a sucker for romance and the cliches of it, so if that's not your thing, then this may not be for you.

I was really interested in this show as the setting and idea seemed so interesting! I thought it would show an American woman, especially a black women seeking out love where ever it may be. And in the first few mins the host who is British states there would be men from all over the globe! I thought ok cool. Then out of 16 guys there is only 3 not from the USA? Just one Canadian, 1 UK guy and one from South Korea! Really! Was done then. And the South Korean guy most likely has lived in the US as there is much US military there, and well Canada is very near Seattle where she is from. So really just 1 guy that is really non USA centric. Real let down. I felt it was almost biased in the fact that it implies that a black American woman is not desirable to non American men. I am a black American woman married to a Swedish guy and living in Sweden, he was watching this with me thinking we would see some diversity but was let down also.

Ms. Remy and her family are so sweet and classy!! She and her family are very deep. They aren't trivial or shallow. Also, they are dead serious about wanting the best husband for Ms. Remy. She deserves love!! I love how these guys are really trying to win her heart!!
This girl is not intelligent at all. The show hasn't finished yet but I can see that she shows poor judgement in men. She puts herself out there then embarrasses herself when she finds out things about them later that she would've known had she spent more time with them. To me she is not serious about marriage. If she were; then she would respect her temple more instead of treating it like common trash as she did in one episode. If I were the men there, I'd have little to no respect for her and just try to stay as long as I could to keep getting weekly checks, lol.
She had the audacity to be concerned about a suitor who was convinced she was the one for him and showed signs of a person who would fully commit but then favor to another suitor who shows fear of commitment. Girl, please make up your mind or sit down somewhere. Just ridiculous. I'm done with this show. I'll cut her a little slack though because I have a feeling that she has to go along with the script for entertainment purposes. It's all scripted, fake and nonsensical. Poor writing and trashhh.

Seriously though, I absolutely love this series! Miss Remy, her family and her best friend are amazing people. The Host is hot! The Castle and the scenery are absolutely beautiful and breathtaking! Some of her suitors are freaking hot! I'm so jealous and happy for Nicole at the same time. The writer/producer of this series is a freaking genius!! This show literally has it all!! I want to see more, more, more!!

I love the premise of the show. But I'm not entirely sure she was serious about finding love.
It seemed to me she went for the guys that have nothing in common with her. Which is fine for a "fling" , perhaps she got blinded by there attractiveness. She's going to have a terrible time finding love is this is how she chooses men. There was one suitor who was attractive and safe- and she went the other way- several times. It seems at the end - without any spoilers. She practically forced the guy to make her a proposal. That was really forced, I almost felt bad for him.
6-10 ....could of been a 10 - if she was serious!

I liked it at first. However, when she eliminated all of the fine Black men I was through. Why can't a Black man and and Black woman have a happy relationship on these shows and commercials? Most Black women love our men and that's who we want to be with. We don't want to see them with other women and we don't want other men. TV keeps promoting the swirl. Do they think we really want that? The producers need to talk to some every day Black women, not the Hollywood types. It is being noticed and discussed amongst us and in the Black media. Get a clue. BLACK LOVE!

The Courtship is SUPER entertaining and well-done. Think about throwing a ton of attractive men into Bridgerton, Emma, Pride & Prejudice, etc, and see how well they can court one beautiful eligible woman. I don't watch dating shows, so I'm assuming it follows the same dramatic framework as most...only it's in a castle on incredible grounds, with incredible costumes, and regency-type activities that showcase a gentleman's skills and etiquette. I also love having the family be part of the process because seeing how the suitors interact with them is really telling...and creates more sexual tension when the family is gone and everyone gets to let loose. I think the show must have been marketed terribly from the start, because I can't imagine why it's not getting more praise.

Just a ridiculous show. They need a better female lead that is not so naive and a bit smarter when it comes to men. She went around with those Bambi eyes at every guy she liked and looked like a school girl meeting her celebrity crush. And the whole situation with Lincoln was just absurd. I mean she says that she is falling in love with other men and yet keeps sleeping with Lincoln. Any woman with a brain could've seen him for what he was. He was just so disgusting and slimy to watch! I think she passed over a lot of the men that really had something to offer, but again, I think she was just way too immature for most of the good men on the show.

Are dating shows actually any good? Not really, we all know that. But the setting and costumes alone give this a solid and deserved 8. What a unique and fantastic idea! What I wouldn't give to be able to play dress up in a real castle and get properly courted? So fun! If you like this time period and the romance of it, you'll enjoy watching and living vicariously through this series. Would love to see more dating shows set in various eras with costumes!

This just arrived on ITV in the Uk and wow I was hooked from the first episode! I watched the whole series in 2 evenings! I loved the regency time setting- so romantic and different! And involving the family and her friend in the process at court was so clever too. Rick Edwards was the perfect host! The only downside was one of the guys was Miles who is a character on another reality show- so that was a really odd choice! And it's NOT a castle! It's a Mansion. (Any British person could tell you that!)
Otherwise absolutely loved it! I think she chose the wrong man at the end though (should have been the other one!!) .
