The ending sentence spoken by Atkin's character Harlan was, "You say this fish took down a boat?....We're gonna need a bigger one." In Steven Speilberg's 1977 gem "Jaws," Roy Sheider's character Brody uttered "You're gonna need a bigger boat." to Richard Dreyfuss' character after the latter had recruited Sheider's character "Brody" to go after a shark terrorizing a quiet recreational coastal area in NY. During the filming of "Jaws" it became a catchphrase for anytime anything went wrong -- if lunch was late or the swells were rocking the camera, someone would say, 'You're gonna need a bigger boat.'" The infamous line landed at No. 3 on Hollywood's Top 100 Movie Quotes, came about when Sheider happened to ad-lib the comment, and into history & pop culture and people still say it today.
In the US, Maneater will be released theatrically, On-Demand (VOD), and on Digital by Saban Films on August 26, 2022. In the UK, Altitude Film Distribution will release the film on DVD on August 29, 2022.
Producer Daemon Hillin said they shot the film on location as practically as possible.
