Commenters under Netflix’s Apple Cider Vinegar trailer seem to think the teaser gives off real Inventing Anna vibes. Both shows focus on women who draw unsuspecting victims into their web of lies. In Apple Cider Vinegar, the liar at the series’ heart is an Australian influencer who lures followers in with claims she’s found a new way to battle cancer.
“Set at the birth of Instagram, Apple Cider Vinegar follows two young women who set out to cure their life-threatening illnesses through health and wellness, influencing their global online communities along the way. All of which would be incredibly inspiring if it were all true,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “This is a true-ish story based on a lie, about the rise and fall of a wellness empire; the culture that built it up and the people who tore it down.”

USA Network’s The Rainmaker has added P.J. Byrne to its series regular cast alongside John Slattery, Milo Callaghan, Lana Parrilla and Madison Iseman.
From showrunner and executive producer Michael Seitzman and based on the John Grisham novel of the same name, The Rainmaker follows Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan) who, fresh out of law school, goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond (John Slattery) and his law school girlfriend Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman). Has FBI: International found a replacement for Luke Kleintank’s Scott Forrester?
The hit CBS procedural has cast Chicago Med alum Colin Donnell in a guest-starring role.
People first reported the news, but in true Dick Wolf series fashion, details about who Donnell will be playing are being kept firmly under wraps.
We know that the Arrow alum will appear in the final two episodes of FBI: International Season 3.
Kleintank is set to depart before these two episodes, so we don’t think Donnell’s character will be involved in Forrester’s last storyline.
“After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI International,” Kleintank said this week.
Will Colin Donnell replace Luke Kleintank?
“This decision is driven by my unwavering commitment to my family, whose love and well-being are paramount in my life. I’m profoundly thankful for the extraordinary cast and crew of the show,...

Richard E. Grant rocked up to the 2023 BAFTA Film Awards in the Batmobile at the advice of Steve Martin, he revealed in a video skit that kicked off his BAFTA monologue tonight. “One single gag can ruin your life and career,” Martin warned him before offering up 1000 rules (most of them thankfully omitted from broadcast) for how to be the perfect awards show host. “Don’t wear white,” Martin warned Grant, already clad in a white tux. “Start working out your monologue at least a year in advance”; “Don’t pick a fight with Judi Dench”; and “Don’t invest in Helen Mirren’s cryptocurrency, she’s a scammer.”
Addressing the guests in his monologue, he said, “Everyone here started with one lucky break,” before telling a story about how Withnail and I only came to him after Daniel Day-Lewis turned it down. “It was a real sliding doors moment,...

Mash broke new ground for sitcoms, and with the sardonic iHawk robot, Futurama fashioned the perfect homage. Mash was based on the novel and 1970 movie of the same name, but it soon formed its own identity. While it started as more of a wacky comedy, later seasons would explore previously taboo subjects on TV shows such as the death of major characters, Ptsd, racism, trauma and much more. While it still took a darkly humorous approach, Mash wasn't afraid to explore the ugly side of warfare. While it might have been set during the Korean War, the showrunners stated its message could be applied to any conflict.
Mash's 1983 finale "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" also became the most-watched scripted episode in TV history, a record that's unlikely to be broken. Mash's influence on the television landscape is undeniable too, and its fingerprints are all over shows like Scrubs or Taxi. However,...

Irreverent is an Australian black comedy television show that will air on Peacock in the US. Starring Colin Donnell, the story follows a fugitive who poses as a minister in a secluded Australian reef town to hide from the dangerous people hunting him.
Fans interested in Irreverent can certainly see the connection with other shows because of their similar premises and tones. Indeed, Irreverent will surely put its own spin on the classic heist genre, but it's pretty clear that it borrows from other projects that came before, making it easy for fans to find other similar shows to enjoy.

Chicago Med’s Colin Donnell goes Down Under — and gets us hot under the collar — in Irreverent, an aptly titled black comedy set in the oddest outskirt of Australia. The Broadway vet and Arrow alum stars as Paulo Keegan, “a negotiator for the mob,” he explains. After a deal goes tragically south, the shady fixer flees Chicago “and winds up in the far north of Queensland, in the very tiny little beach town of Clump, impersonating [Mackenzaie Boyd, played by Pj Byrne], a reverend who is supposed to be the pillar of this community.” A community that, by the way, is filled with misfits even stranger than a man of the cloth who seems to have no concept of good versus evil! Dunghutti filmmaker Darlene Johnson is the inaugural recipient of Sydney Film Festival and Deutsche Bank’s $20,000 First Nations fellowship.
Aimed at mid-career creatives with a proven track record, the initiative facilitates self-directed professional development or industry placement.
Johnson will work with Aquarius Films to undertake both a producer and director’s attachment, while also developing with the company her own original TV drama concept.
While Johnson forged her early career in documentary with projects like River of No Return and The Redfern Story, in recent years she has shifted back into drama. Her 2015 short film Bluey won Sff’s Event Cinema Australian Short Screenplay Award, and more recently, her directing credits include Aquarius’ Born to Spy, The Heights, Neighbours and Home and Away. She was also in the writer’s room for upcoming Netflix/Peacock drama Irreverent.
For Johnson, the fellowship has come at an opportune time, as she builds her career in long-form narrative.
