Having just sat through the "Star Wars" fan-made short film "No Disintegrations" on YouTube, I stumbled upon another fan-made "Star Wars" short film titled "Sands of Fate: A Star Wars Story". And of course I opted to check it out, as I am a huge fan of all things "Star Wars". Yes, even the newest trilogy and the state of the franchise as it is today.
The storyline in "Sands of Fate: A Star Wars Story", as written by Ian Eskander and Timothy Martin, proved to be entertaining and enjoyable. It was a nicely written storyline, and I really liked the twist it added to the Boba Fett story arch in the events in "Return of the Jedi". That was definitely some nice thinking out of the box and adding a great spin to those events.
With "Sands of Fate: A Star Wars Story" being a fan-made film, of course I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble. But I will say that the acting performances were good.
Visually then this was actually quite good. They had good CGI effects in the film, which added to the overall enjoyment. And they definitely also had good costumes and props, which made "Sands of Fate: A Star Wars Story" look and feel like a proper "Star Wars" film. So thumbs up for that achievement.
"Sands of Fate: A Star Wars Story" is well-worth sitting down and spending 25 minutes on watching. I was genuinely entertained throughout the course of the 25 minutes that it ran for.
For a fan-made short film, this was actually quite good.
My rating of directors Timothy Martin and Patrick Lundberg's 2023 fan-made short film "Sands of Fate: A Star Wars Story" lands on a six out of ten stars.
