A great 2 episodes so far of a great Taiwanese history series. The aboriginal, Han, and Hakka actors all do a wonderful job. However, "Fabio", the lead actor who plays a French/American should have stuck to modeling. His acting is uninspired and really detracts from the scenes he is in. I would have given this a higher rating except for him. On the other hand, it's really touching to see Camake Valaule do a wonderful job as a Paiwanese chieftain. He just passed yesterday, R. I. P. His legacy through his work in this series and with Taiwu Ancient Ballads Troupe lives on. If you like this series and want to see another epic Taiwanese aboriginal film check out Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale, about an aboriginal uprising against Japanese colonists.

I'm giving this a 10 rating straight off the bat after just two days because, even those two episodes alone are fantastic. I'm biased because I live in Taiwan and love these kinds of movies which are based here. At first it was a little difficult to understand as there are lots of different tribes, but it's like a great history lesson. I cannot wait to see the other episodes and where the story will go.

This film has brought a lot of debate and attention to the indigenous people of Taiwan. As an indigenous member of the tribe in the film, I am very happy to see an entertaining film about this history, even if that history has been dramatized and embellished. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the film. Camake RIP.
