Mickey Rourke is a great actor, but he hasn’t really done anything that memorable since his Oscar-nominated role in The Wrestler. It’d be great to see him take on another great film and maybe this next project will be it.
Rourke will star in a supernatural thriller called Unhinged and will play a character named Dr. Elder, “a prominent psychiatrist at a state-run hospital who wrestles with madness and a dark supernatural force as he races to stop an escaped patient from butchering five people held hostage in a remote house.”
That actually sounds like it could be a great and intense horror film, and it seems like a role that Rourke could slip right into. This wouldn’t be Rourke first horror film. In 1987 he starred in the movie Angel Heart, which you should watch if you haven’t seen it yet!

The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA has ignited the imaginations of tourists and paranormal enthusiasts for decades. Commissioned by the eccentric heiress to the Winchester rifle fortune in 1884, she believed that its continued construction would keep her alive forever – but, of course, after nearly forty years of building 160 rooms and staircases that went nowhere, mortality got the best of old Sarah Winchester. Since then, the mansion has become a popular attraction, mostly due to the belief that it’s haunted by the victims of her family’s invention.

Recently reborn horror studio Hammer Films has developed a taste for haunted houses: after last February’s “The Woman in Black," they have optioned the rights for a film on the Winchester Mystery House, located in San Jose, California. Imagination Design Works and Nine/8 Entertainment are planning to produce a movie based on the “legendary story” of the property.
The “world’s most haunted house” was built between 1884 and 1922 by Sarah Winchester, the widow heiress of Winchester rifles. She had been convinced by a medium that she had to build a house, and that as long as she kept on building she would not die. For 38 years, construction went on night and day without any building plan. And no expense was spared as among the many features are stained glass windows specifically designed by Tiffany. But of course, there are two certain things in life -- death and taxes --...

The Asylum is ready to spread more of their mental illness with their film Born Bad. This latest horror flick is from director Jared Cohn (Revenants) and stars Meredith Monroe, Bonnie Dennison, Michael Welch, Gerald Webb and Bill Oberst Jr. In the film, much like 1996's Fear, an innocent girl brings home a seemingly charming boyfriend. However, this new beau is more serial killer than companion. Strangely, both Fear and Born Bad share similar plot points and The Asylum is known for knocking off big blockbusters. This reviewer has not seen the film, so horror fans will have to make the final call when Born Bad releases on DVD November 8th. Enjoy or throw stones at the film's trailer below.
As an aside, The Asylum was sued in late 2009 by Winchester Mystery House, LLC (PRWeb). The litigants and owners of Winchester House hold property in California in the form of a "State Historical Landmark.

The Asylum has actually been on a roll lately with the wonderfully ludicrous 2012: Ice Age and the surprisingly decent Born Bad. Will the streak continue with a 3D ghost flick, more monster sharks, and a mockbuster with the exact same title as its theatrical counterpart?
We begin with A Haunting in Salem 3D, the latest 3D haunted house movie from The Asylum following 2009’s Haunting of Winchester House, a film I found to be as boring as its 3D was useless. Hopefully they improved things in both categories.
When the new sheriff of Salem, Massachusetts discovers that he is the victim of a centuries-old curse, he must protect his family from the vengeful ghosts that torment his home.
Paranormal Entity and Titanic II helmer Shane Van Dyke directs Bill Oberst, Jr., Courtney Abbiati, Jenna Stone, and Nicholas Harsin from a script by H. Perry Horton.

Makeup FX artist Jeffrey S. Farley (pictured) of the Obscure Artifacts company sent along a bunch of behind-the-scenes pics from his assorted recent projects (see them below). The most notable are from Camera Obscura, the on-line horror series from up-and-coming genre filmmaker Drew Daywalt.
Camera Obscura (first row of photos), which we last reported on here, follows a young woman as she continues her deceased grandfather’s battle against creatures from a hellish parallel reality. “My involvement came about through my friendship with Drew,” Farley, who also associate-produced the series, tells Fango. “We’ve had a great time on every show since Breach, and when he sold Camera Obscura, he told me, ‘You’re on, and here are some ideas I’ve come up with.’ Then he produced some of the most incredible Bosch/Bacon-styled designs I’ve ever seen. Needless to say, I was sold.
