Night Nurse and the Dead Boy Detectives made their first live action TV appearances in the third season of Doom Patrol.
Neil Gaiman, who created the Dead Boy Detectives as part of Sandman #25, wrote three scenes for the first season, one each in episodes 1, 7, and 8.
The Dead Boy Detectives are part of the Sandman universe, first appearing in the Sandman #25 comic book.
Ruth Connell is the only actor from the original Doom Patrol episode to reprise her role (as the Night Nurse) for this series.
This show could be said to be a spin-off of Doom Patrol (2019), as the characters made their first TV appearance in the season 3 episode "Dead Patrol (2021)". However, with the Max streaming service's pivot away from original content, the series was purchased by Netflix, as they already produced The Sandman (2022), which takes place in the same comics universe (with both titles originally created by Neil Gaiman).
