What We Owe Each Other begins shortly after the main character, Jude is sexually assaulted by her partner. Feeling disoriented and vulnerable, she reaches out to her closest friend Simone who is eager to provide support. After that long night Simone makes an effort to contact Jude but is ignored. Jude goes home to her roommate, Jamie and keeps herself busy cleaning the space. She struggles to cope with her recent trauma and instead of accepting the aid of her friends she lashes out and isolates. Accountability and guilt assessment are crucial steps in her healing.
