This film is a great psychological thriller to watch in the dark. Good luck trying to sleep after, though. The writer and cast gives it their all and you can tell there is heart and soul in this movie. I would have thought the budget was easily 10x what it was. The make up and effects are top tier.
The plot twists and turns in unexpected ways. What you originally think is "just a demon" evolves into talking about deep-rooted trauma that has been packed away.
The set and lighting are perfect to make this extra spooky to your core!
I hope this director continues to make many more films so I can watch them all!

This movie is a slow burn, exploring grief and it's many facets. It takes you through all the stages and you really feel for Hayley. I can not recommend this film enough. Alison Lobel and Levi Austin Morris play their characters to a tee. The relationship and character arcs feel genuine. As you travel through the grief that Hayley is experiencing, you feel the growth as she comes to grips with her inner turmoil. Alison's portrayal of the many stages of grief are nuanced and a tterly heartbreaking at times. Do yourself a favor and check out this film. While the beginning can be a little slow, it's needed to develop the characters and story. Don't let this one pass you by.
I enjoyed this film. Lots of threads weaving around and brought together for a satisfying ending. Very good use of some scary images and it keeps the floating sense of unease and unreality going. I don't like an unresolved "you figure out what happened" ending, and this film avoids that nicely. Good depiction of the distress that family can cause. No time wasted in diving into the story, and a generous amount of creepiness. The main character does a very good job of portraying how debilitating poor sleep/bad dreams can be. This movie digs right into personal horrors without having to resort to a bucket of blood.

If you've ever had sleep paralysis before you know how terrifying and helpless that feeling can be. You wake up in the middle of the night and realize you can't move, and somehow you know...you are not alone in the room. This film really recreates that experience in horrifying detail along with a compelling and emotional storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This movie is definitely a slow burn, which builds amazing suspense and terror for the audience There are also some really fantastic jump scares in this that will genuinely make you scream and sleep with the lights on. I watched it on Tubi but it is streaming a few other places as well, check it out!

First of all, this is clearly not meant to be a jump-scare fest. So if you are looking for constant jump-scares to keep you engaged this may not be the film for you. It's a slow-burn, psychological horror with a lot of weighted terror in the atmosphere. It uses the grief, guilt, and trauma of a character to explore the horror genre. And some of the scares of very effective. It takes a little bit to get going but about halfway through the tension really starts building to a very satisfying climax.
It's definitely a lower-budget film with a few technical issues throughout but it's an impressive feat for such a micro-budget.
If you like films like slow-burn horror with some familial drama this is a nice way to spend an evening. We were more than satisfied.

As a lover of thrillers, horrors and all things scary movie, I wasn't too sure of what to expect of Paralysis. Honestly, I am blown away at the storyline, the palpable tension throughout the movie, and the attention to detail that went into making this film. Without giving too much away, there are plot twists that keep you guessing throughout and jump scares that genuinely make you jump. The entire film is just very well done and exceeded my expectations as an Indie Film. I can see why it earned so many awards at various film festivals! I would highly recommend Paralysis to anyone who is looking for a scary movie that also has a great storyline to keep you engaged.

This indie horror film is impressively refreshing in that it deals with grief in both a straightforward manner and involves truly caring people. The storyline is one that far too many of us can relate to. Similar in tone to Babadook, but with more engaging pacing and characters who are more relatable. Several creepy images with solid writing that doesn't need to rely on jump scares. Ethereal, dreamlike sequences blend well throughout the film, leading to a satisfying ending. At times, this didn't even seem like a film--Very natural acting. Interesting, earnest characters who you will find yourself thinking about after the film is done.

I'm not a fan of horror movies but this movie was different. The story pulls you in and has you rooting for Haley by the end. From the effects to the acting, Paralysis has you guessing what's going to happen next. The way this movie touches on grief and loss and how it take a hold of you really moved me.
If you are looking for a good story with great acting and characters with a thriller horror twist, then you will enjoy this movie. It's hard to believe it was filmed on an iPhone with the effects it has. It has you appreciating the artistic touch the director has with using a mobile device as its medium.

I love an indie movie, especially a horror film! This did not disappoint! The actors were relatable and the dialogue was believable in every way! It was a refreshing take on sleep paralysis! As someone that has had night terrors, I never thought I'd say that out loud!
I loved the character development and the overall production! The music, the bird imagery, just so much was there, but nothing was overdone!
The grief that surrounds us sometimes on a daily, can cause a lot of things to be scary, paranoia, and loss of relationships. Those are just the lighter side! I think so much of this was captured, and look forward to watching again! Bravo!

Not a genre I typically watch, nor typical for the genre. Emotionally wrenching and lots of twists and turns with a satisfying ending. It is incredible that this film was created and shot using a mobile phone on a shoestring budget. The entire film had a sense of dreaminess and semi consciousness, as though you are drowning and your synapses are randomly firing, blending reality and memory and fear and guilt until you are unable to discern which way is up, your lungs burning as you flail for the surface and air. That the scenes are confined to a handful of rooms and locations drives home the isolation of the main character and her being tethered to her grief, unable to move, paralyzed.
