I likes how the season 3 picked up and avid watchers remember the plot-lines about the Stone family to pick up exactly where it was left in S3.
However, minor and peripheral characters have faded from memory and difficult to remember where they were when S3 ended - e.g. Angelina, Anna, Eagan, Adrian.
Going back and watching all three seasons again would be too much time to invest to get the context.
I remember nAiden as an opportunist setting up ministry of 828ers and Vance was working behind the scene with 828ers to solve the mystery but cannot recall how Bird's nest was set up or what happened to Aiden before S4.
I wish there was a feature that gave synopsis of each character's arc through the first three seasons.

So here it is folks. Your "jumped the shark" episode. When the show was on network television, it was plagued by decent storylines hindered by mediocre acting, and slow moving sub plot lines. So it was inevitable that we should expect a "jumped the shark" episode. Missing a few characters, or altering old ones is making a series difficult to watch now on Netflix. I haven't watched the whole season yet but if it is like this first episode, I can't see it being renewed for a fifth season. So I hope that the 10th and final episode of this season is a series finally, and buttons up everything so as to not leave us on a cliffhanger.

The storyline remains compelling and the acting remains soap opera quality but in a good way. I love watching this show because it's got lots of twists and turns and interesting side plots all culminating toward....who knows?! I'm diving into S4 and I can't even remember what the Death Date is all about and I don't even care. I'm gonna keep on watching.
The flashbacks are a great way to fill in what's been happening to give important plot points without having to see the day to day aspects of the time gap from last season. It's sad to see Ben so down in the dumpers but I remain hopeful that early in the season he'll perk up and be back to his calling shenanigans.
