“Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking” has been acquired by Prime Video for the U.K.

The show, which features pairs of bakers whipping up magical Potter-inspired creations in a competition format, is set to air in the U.S. on Food Network and Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform Max from Nov. 14. New episodes will drop weekly.

It will be available on Prime Video in the U.K. from December, with an exact transmission date still being kept under wraps.

Internationally, “Wizards of Baking” will be on Max in territories where the streamer is available.

However, with Max not yet available in the U.K., in part due to Wbd’s longrunning and lucrative output deal with Comcast-owned broadcaster Sky, it seemed likely the show would land on Sky and its streaming platform Now.

Helen Mirren made a welcome return to TV with her stunning Western series “1923” opposite the inimitable Harrison Ford. The series is another show from Taylor Sheridan‘s Western world, which started off with Kevin Costner‘s “Yellowstone” and also includes the prequel “1883.”

This one is set in between those two shows and follows Mirren and Ford as married couple Cara and Jacob Dutton, who lead their family through a variety of challenges in the early 20th century, including the prohibition era and the Great Depression. As Cara, Mirren owns the screen with her Dame-like presence and commands your attention in every scene she’s in. She’s introduced with a shotgun but doesn’t need such props to show what a powerful actress she is. She’s a force to be reckoned with, as usual, as critics have noted.

White Lotus, Abbott Elementary, Better Call Saul, Barry and This Is Us were among the shows honored by the Hollywood Critics Association (Hca) on Saturday.

The 2022 Hca TV Awards began its two-night event at the Beverly Hilton with a ceremony for the honorees in the Broadcast Network and Cable edition, which was hosted by The Daily Show’s Dulcé Sloan. On Sunday, Tig Notaro will host the streaming awards ceremony.

HBO’s White Lotus led all shows with five wins including best limited series. Additionally, Mike White prevailed for writing and directing, while the series picked up prizes for Jennifer Coolidge for supporting actress and Murray Bartlett for supporting actor.

ABC’s Abbott Elementary won four trophies, including best broadcast comedy, actress for Quinta Brunson and supporting actress for Janelle James. AMC’s Better Call Saul also won four awards ahead of Monday’s series finale.

Former Turner Networks and Fox exec Henson is set to join the company overseeing unscripted entertainment. It follows the departure of Jenny Groom, which Deadline reported today.

Deadline understands that the deal isn’t finalized but that Henson is in final talks as Groom’s replacement. She will oversee reality competition, talent competition and game show formats across NBC, its portfolio of cable networks and streamer Peacock.

Working alongside Rod Aissa, who oversees all unscripted lifestyle and documentary programming, she is expected to take charge of shows such as The Voice, America’s Got Talent and American Ninja Warrior as well as upcoming titles such as Million Dollar Island, The Wheel, Password and The Traitors.

As Discovery and WarnerMedia are set to close their 43B merger later this week, the attention has been focused mainly on the deal’s ramifications for WarnerMedia’s movie and scripted television businesses. There’s been much industry chatter about the importance of Casey Bloys’ scripted television empire and whether Toby Emmerich continues to oversee The Batman film studio.

The pair, alongside Warner Bros. TV boss Channing Dungey, are expected to report directly to David Zaslav under the company’s new structure, which is set to be unveiled shortly.

Disney Plus’ “Muppets Haunted Mansion” and Apple TV Plus’ “For All Mankind” and “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” were among the winners on Monday as the Producers Guild of America announced the winners of four categories from this year’s PGA Awards.

Held in person at its annual East Coast celebration of the 2022 PGA nominees, winners included the producing team for HBO’s “100 Foot Wave” (Season 1), named outstanding sports program; the producing team for “Muppets Haunted Mansion” with outstanding children’s program; the producing team for “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” (Season 4) with outstanding short form program; and “For All Mankind: Time Capsule” was presented with the PGA Innovation Award, “which celebrates outstanding entertainment endeavors across VR, Ar, experiential and other emerging media.” (“For All Mankind: Time Capsule” is a companion to Apple’s critically acclaimed “For All Mankind.”)

The 26th Annual Art Director’s Guild Awards took place tonight as an in-person show at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, with “Nightmare Alley,” “No Time to Die” and “Encanto” taking home top film honors.

“Nightmare Alley,” “Dune” and “No Time to Die” have won the top feature-film prizes at the 26th annual Excellence in Production Design Awards, which were held by the Art Directors Guild on Saturday evening in Los Angeles.

“Nightmare Alley” won in the Period Feature Film category, where the other finalists included “The Tragedy of Macbeth” and “West Side Story,” both of which were nominated for the Oscar for Best Production Design.

“Dune” won in the Fantasy Feature Film category, where it was the only Oscar nominee in the running. And “No Time to Die” won in the Contemporary Feature Film category, in which none of the nominees had been recognized by Oscar voters.

The Producers Guild of America has unveiled its first wave of nominations for the 2022 PGA Awards, which will now take place March 19 in Los Angeles after moving out of February due to the pandemic. The Guild announced the nominees in the categories of Short-Form, Children’s, and Sports television programming. The full list of nominees for TV shows and specials as well as for movies will be unveiled on Thursday, January 27.

A new year has finally arrived and HBO Max is set to open it with a bang. With its list of new releases for January 2022, HBO Max is rolling out some intriguing original series and an absolutely packed slate of library titles.

The real highlight this month comes on Jan. 13 with the release of Peacemaker. Developed by James Gunn, this series spins off John Cena’s titular character from last years’ The Suicide Squad. The show will delve into the pathology of a superhero who will achieve peace regardless of how many people need to be killed to attain it.

Also of note this month are second seasons for two major HBO series. Euphoria season 2 and The Righteous Gemstones season 2 both premiere on Jan. 9, making for quite the odd double feature. Meanwhile, the fifth and final season of superb comedy Search Party arrives on Jan. 7.

January 2022 is light as far as original movies go.

At long last, HBO Max has released the much-anticipated preview of “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” its upcoming special that will reunite the actors and filmmakers from the eight-movie series, which will stream on Jan. 1. “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” which kicked off the film arm of the Wizarding World, was released in November 2001 — and the special will commemorate the franchise’s 20th anniversary.

“Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” which will reunite actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, was taped at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London. Helen Mirren will receive this year’s SAG Life Achievement Award and will be presented with the prize during the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony on February 27.

The award is given annually to an actor who fosters the “finest ideals of the acting profession”.

Oscar, BAFTA and Emmy winning actress Mirren becomes the most decorated SAG Life Achievement recipient with a total of 13 SAG nominations and five SAG Actor wins to her name.

Mirren is currently filming Golda, in the title role of Israel’s first female prime minister Golda Meir, which revealed a first look yesterday. She is also set to host Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, a four-part competition series premiering on November 28.

Helen Mirren has been selected as the next honoree to receive the SAG Life Achievement Award during next year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. The prize is considered SAG-AFTRA’s highest honor, and will return after taking a year off due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mirren is the 57th recipient of the SAG Life Achievement Award, which has been bestowed since 1962 (long before the 1995 launch of the SAG Awards). Mirren will accept the honor during the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, held on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.
