The Time Traveling Sheriff is a short story about Zach King, an actor-magician, and Ana, a child actress, who are playing roles in a Western movie. During the film shoot, they discover a magical cowboy hat that turns out to be a time machine, transporting them to the Old West in the blink of an eye. The story takes an exciting twist when they cross paths with an outlaw gunslinger determined to reclaim his stolen hat.

At just 12 minutes long-three minutes shorter than the typical 15-minute short film-the limited runtime makes a difference. Unfortunately, the film doesn't explain how the hat became a time machine, what kind of connection the two main characters share (are they family, friends, or just co-workers?), or why the grumpy director, who seems to hate his own movie, is even in charge.

That being said, the originality of the story stands out. As the plot unfolds, clever connections between the past and present emerge, and the ending is pure comedic gold. The Time Traveling Sheriff isn't meant to be deep or serious-it's light-hearted, absurd fun and a playful satire of the chaos behind filmmaking. In short, it's a tragedy flipped into comedy.
