I have watched and rewatched this show over the years. And listened to the music. I think some purists are just over criticizing this show. When I watch something, I watch to see how well they have preserved the characters even if they have changed the dynamics. However, in this case I didn't look for the same characters of the anime, but how well it would work if they were real life characters. This is good to watch for the fans. People that may not know the story all that well may not really get the nuances, but the adapted stories work really work well for this.
