Imran Hashmi looked like he reluctantly agreed to do this film. He was disinterested throughout the film and that transferred to the audience. The supporting cast were incompetent in their respective roles. I gave 4* for the intermittent special effects that's all. The movie overall was disappointing.
It's again a ghost story but in a form and new country
The only thing you can see in this movie is the making which is very good and the performances by imraan and manav rest it the same story of revenge
This weekend there were so many entertaining options but it's your choice.

Remake of 2017 Malayalam Film Ezra, Dybbuk tells the story of the spirit in the box that tries to destroy the village for the sake of revenge.
Emraan Hashmi playing the lead character matches the vibe of Prithviraj, who played the lead in the original. Being a remake, there was nothing additional new to offer but it did well to maintain itself from being an another weak remake of a South Indian movie.
At moments, the movie felt it was bit rushed to reach to the climax since this one was almost 40 minutes shorter in duration than the original. Dybbuk lacked the exploration of the story in depth, the way Ezra did.
In my opinion Dybbuk is a good attempt and manages at most parts to stand with the original, but short runtime and few moments that felt quick and unexplained was a downer for Dybbuk.
My Rating : 6/10.

No horror. Even story and screenplay does not appeal much. Background music does not create any kind of thrill and shiver as it should be . Overall it lacks all elements that are expected from horror movie.

I fell asleep while watching it, lol. How can someone fell asleep while watching a horror movie? Possible if it's this kinda movie.
Absolutely nothing new. No scary scenes, no thrills and even the exorcism was so freaking easily done. This was a horrible. It can be put under simply drama genre.
I expected better from Emraan Hashmi but disappointed.

Just finished watching this movie. There is nothing new about any scary movie. This was an interesting story, about a possessed ghost wanting to destroy the whole town for wrongdoing.
Acting is good, emraan sir is amazing as always with his expression and just being himself. Others characters were good in their own ways. It weird to not have any songs cause Emraan movies always have no songs but sadly not this time :( Overall, this is a decent scary movie with some jumpy scene and story.
One time watch is what I say just for Emraan sir :)

Bollywood also needs a director like James Wan too so that the horror genre can revive itself otherwise this genre from bollywood will go Tata ByeBye Khtam. The last & only horror movie i liked & appreciated from Bollywood was Tumbbad (2018). And atleast try to make a good remake which one can only expect from Bollywood now.

In starting of movies both are overacting, too much overacting.
Secondly In Bollywood movie they show Hindu girl married Muslim or Christian. Can They make opposite of this one day?.
In half of the movie when dogs bark and she look at the possesed girl, this is too overacting from all 3. Why don't just copycat scene from some good movie. This is too much overacting. Either director can't hire people or doesn't trained them to do good work.
When the story end, it doesn't look end. Story is pretty dumb. Imran try to do more horror but half of his work is more look like overacting.
Too much overacting and ending is not done well, so 1 star.

Nice story, good action
solid 7, good horror package.
Cast and story did the justice with the movie.
Theme of the movie as dark as required.
Go for it.

Already wasted my 2 hours watching this flop movie. Don't want to waste more time typing review about this crap movie. Good this movie didn't release in theatres. Avoid watching it completely. Dybbuk-The Flop is Real.

I saw this on Amazon Prime without watching the trailer or reading anything bah it. Was surprised to see a billboard poster of it few nights back. In fact i was angry that this movie wasn't promoted well. There were no trailers popping on YouTube or any thing related to this movie running on tv channels.
The Possession (2012) dealt with the similar topic but i found the movie boring n very mild.
This movie doesn't waste any time with the unnecessary Bollywood cliches n thankfully there aint any songs.
The first kill is an offscreen one but very brutal.
There is one very atmosphere scene ala dreamlike n surrealistic where Emraan Hashmi follows his wife.
There is a scary n brutal scene inside Moshe's house when the Rabbi enters for the book.
Few flaws : A pregnant female is allowed to witness exorcism dealing with scary faces.
When the Rabbi breaks open the door of Moshe's house to enter, it was crystal clear that nobody was outside or inside but later suddenly a man pops outta nowhere and that too inside the house and tells the Rabbi that he shouldn't be here.
In one scene the Rabbi ask the wife to step out during exorcism n she obliges n moves out but in the next scene she is standing once again in the same room where exorcism is happening and that too next to a guy who is involved in exorcism.
Generous with a 8 cos of Hashmi n the dreamlike sequence n the twist.

Story:
Hashmi and his wife( Nikita Dutta) move to Mauritius to start afresh after the lady suffers a miscarriage.
While doing up her new home, she innocently brings home an antique Jewish box-Dybbuk and inadvertently starts off a chain of paranormal events which threatens the lives of all the inhabitants of the island nation.
The film is a remake of the hit Malyalam film Ezra starring Prithviraj.
The casting is good. Hashmi,Manav Kaul and Nikita Dutta have done a decent job. The story is not bad either. There are at least three jumpscare moments in the film however the makers are not able to capitalise on this as they end too abruptly, thereby toning down the horror quotient a lot. This could've easily been a very scary film if this aspect would've been dealt with properly.
A decent one time watch for horror buffs. Utna bhi bura nahi hai.
Adios 🙂

DYBBUK is inspired by the 2012 film THE POSSESSION while the story is copied from EZRA (2017) (which itself of course was inspired by THE POSSESSION). I was not really a fan of THE POSSESSION and hence i found this film also to be non-spooky and full of those old horror cliches.
There are just one or two sequences that genuinely startled me (jumpscares) but the rest, the tension building is so poor that when the horror kicks in, it doesn't spook you at all. The problem with Bollywood horror is that they dont give enough time for the tension to build up and dont tend to use the "dead silence" well instead they add a tension building BGM which does not help at all.
The climax should have been a highlight but it is shot so poorly that it barely lasts for 5 mins and nothing much happens except a little bit of violence.
Now look, i dont care if you took the non-presence of songs in this film as a positive (cuz it doesn't disrupt the flow of the film at least), but i honestly cant stand an Emraan Hashmi film without atleast one song. Cmon man the film is so trash that at one point I was literally praying "Bhai bass ek gaana hi baja de accha wala yaad rakhne laayak " but no! There are none.
Hence, there is absolutely nothing to like about this film. Just this one twist is there that has been utilized previously in RAAZ REBOOT and honestly wasnt expecting it so came as a surprise (hence i give it 2 stars) but then you realize, it is not a unique or creative twist. Skip the film! Its a waste of time and boring.

It's an official Remake of Malayalam movie Ezra
I don't know why bollywood movies are going worse to worse
Nothing new in this movie scene to scene copy
And a lot of predictable scenes
Lagging , Boring
Not worth for watching.

No point watching a copycat movie. The original one - the Malayalam movie "Ezra" is far better. Don't waste your time and money on this crap. Druggie Bollywood full of nepotism has nothing good to offer. What a shame.

This movie is intended to scare below 5 years kids.
The director and producer were drunk while doing this.
The acting of Emran hashmi is good but the story, the graphics, are pathetic.
I believe 2021 kids probably won't be scared after watching this.

There is lack of horror in the movie, you can easily sleep after watching this movie. Story line is nice but not capable to provide horror. Emraan's horror movies are known for it's good sound tracks but there are no soundtracks in the movie.
If you love horror movies then may be you don't find anything much in this movie.

Sam (Emraan Hashmi) and Mahi (Nikita Dutta) have been married for a couple of years against the wishes of the latter's parents, an issue that neither is happy about, and remains as a jagged edge. So when Sam gets an opportunity to develop the nuclear energy plant in Mauritius, he is excited that they may be able to rekindle the romance, whilst Mahi is somewhat uncertain about leaving all her friends and family behind Mumbai. When they arrive in Mauritius, they get a massive bungalow to live in, and Mahi's problems start as soon as she unwittingly buys a Dybbuk, a box that contains a secret, perhaps a curse from the past, that will be released as soon as the box is opened.
There's no point buying a box and not opening it, hence Mahi does the needful unknowingly and a malevolent spirit possesses the family. Mahi starts doing strange things and Sam is forced to seek advice from the Church first, and then from a Rabbi played by Manav Kaul to help them return to normalcy.
The rest of Dybbuk is rather formulaic, as the good must triumph over evil, but not without our learning why the alleged evil is what it is, and why it is tormenting Sam and Mahi, who seem to have accidentally crossed its path to vengeance against the entire island. The spirit is intelligent and educated enough to know that Sam is in charge of the operations of the nuclear reactor, which, with the use of recently acquired Plutonium can devastate the whole island. Dybbuk is occasionally startling, but cannot sustain the horror it is meant to, and the SFX of the evil spirit is quite similar to Vikram Bhatt movies. Emraan Hashmi is the natural choice for the lead as he is a sleepwalker through the role he has done umpteen times before this. Nikita Dutta is likeable in her plight but her troubles don't evoke enough sympathy. Dybbuk is an average fare and will be lost in the crowd of another not so scary "horror" movie.

Again Emran Hasmi back with horror movie, camera work, horror timing was not good but story was different so it can be one time watching movie.... 😍😍😍
Failed attempt to make a horror movie. Waste of time!! Not a single moment in the movie that you will find scary. Seriously, do not spoil your weekend watching this non sense movie.

It's unnecessarily islamic. None of the islamic traditions or cultures fit in to the movie.
Beginning of the movie - a Christian man who married a hindu wife and was talking about the latter's family protesting against the marriage. This kind of religious element was completely forced and unnecessary.
Christian father who is shown as subordinate to Islamic priest. Again, it is not necessary to mess with religions in movies. Why not create a completely fictitious religion instead of throwing these kinds of meanings into real ones?
No scares. Lot of unexplained and weird plot holes. Sets are lack luster.
The only good thing about the movie is Emrah of whom I am a fan and hence watched this movie. Otherwise it is complete garbage.
