Supposedly based on a set of true incidents, I'm sure that many of them were changed or enhanced for this series. One thing I can believe though is the stultifying horror of oppression by 2nd generation Muslim immigrant men of their sisters. I worked in social services for some years and in many cases involving such families that were flagged up to us, the brothers were far worse than the parents in trying to control their siblings. Esra's plight rang true.
After the twin disasters of the wedding and the robbery, going on the run might have seemed the only thing the couple could do.
They were an oddly kind couple of crims. They didn't generally kill their victims even if they could identify them. It was their naivety though that got them into big trouble towards the end of the series and led to their final downfall.
I enjoyed this romp and watched the lot in one evening. But it's not worth more than five stars.
