Mirror: Twin Cities is adapted from the first part of Cang Yue's 6-part Mirror series. The novels feature many characters whose stories are interconnected. Twin Cities follows a Miao girl named Na Sheng in her search for Yun Huang.
The drama is part of the "Mirror" series alongside Yu Gu Yao.
Yang Zhiwen and Ye Shengjia who played a couple in the web drama A Love So Romantic are reunited again.
The live-action adaptation of "Yu Gu Yao," which is a prequel to the "Mirror" series started filming in March 2021.
Before the cast was announced, there was some speculation that Yukee Chen will be playing Na Sheng but she turned out to be playing Bai Ying.
