Retired Major Mahadevan lives in his ancestral home with his son Ajay, a forest officer, and daughter-in-law Aparna. The police investigation, led by Inspector Premkumar, initially treats it as a missing child case, but inconsistencies in family testimonies gradually reveal deeper complexities. Mahadevan, suffering from early-stage dementia, provides conflicting accounts of the day Chachu disappeared. His condition becomes central to the investigation as his memory lapses create gaps in the time-line. Aparna grows increasingly suspicious of her father-in-law's behavior, noticing his unusual reactions and evasive responses when questioned about Chachu. The investigation reveals that Mahadevan had been alone with Chachu on the day of the disappearance. Through careful reconstruction of events, it becomes apparent that the old man's deteriorating mental state led to a tragic accident. In a moment of confusion, Mahadevan mistook Chachu for an intruder and, drawing upon his military training, acted defensively, inadvertently harming the child.
