The main characters, Brian and Thomas, are named after the alternative R&B duo, Gnarls Barkley, comprised of "Danger Mouse" (Brian Burton) and "Cee-Lo Green" (Thomas Callaway). Their 2008 album, 'The Odd Couple' was released during the writing of Rodents and was a favorite of writer/director Kyle Richards at the time.

Goofs
When the junkie throws the rock through Brian's car door window, a yell can be heard that doesn't belong to Brian, but to off-camera crew member, Kenny Somerville, in reaction to the glass shattering.
