When I first reviewed Welcome to Sweden (review here), I was not only nervous about the idea of someone getting a gig by virtue of being Amy Poehler’s brother, but also because the show seemed to be working such a “European” sense of comedy, that I wasn’t sure it would play well to American audiences.
It may have worked out that despite somewhat surprising success, the show remains a bit niche, but Greg Poehler won me over pretty quickly. Based on Greg’s real experiences living in Sweden, the show is a charmingly-envisioned culture clash that wonderfully avoids trying too hard for the comedy.
The story revolves around Greg, who has fallen in love with Emma (Josephine Bornebusch) and decides to relocate with her so that she can take a job back in Sweden. He had a solid job as an investment broker, with a lot of high profile clients,...

Amy Poehler and her brother Greg Poehler have launched Syskon, a production banner dedicated to developing half-hour comedies. The first series to come out of the company, Welcome To Sweden, created by and starring Greg Poehler and co-starring Lena Olin and Illeana Douglas and Patrick Duffy, has just been ordered by Sweden’s TV4. A fish-out-of-water comedy, Welcome To Sweden is based on Greg Poehler’s true-life story about a New York accountant, Bruce (Poehler), who falls in love with a Swedish girl, Emma, and follows his heart to Sweden. Making his acting debut, Greg will star along with Josephine Bornebusch (Solsidan) as Emma, Olin as Emma’s mother Viveka, and Douglas and Duffy as Bruce’s parents. Welcome To Sweden, which marks TV4′s first English-language co-production, will be produced by local Swedish producer Flx (TV4’s comedy Solsidan), with Entertainment One handling worldwide rights. Amy Poehler and Greg Poehler executive produce.

We’re all very familiar with the character Wolverine (played so brilliantly in the X-Men movies by Hugh Jackman) but we’ve never really seen what happened to him when he was younger. Two Swedish film makers have decided it’s about time we saw a little from his past and have created a 5 minute short film they’ve called ‘Logan’.

Swedish directors Andreas Climent and André Hedetoft were apparently sitting around the house one day and wondered: “Hey, what would happen if some dude caught Wolverine back when he was still a young teen name Logan and beat the crap out of him?” Well, as it turns out, bad things happen. To, er, the dude. Check out a new fanmade short film that wonders how a young Logan would deal with a brutal interrogation from Climent and Hedetoft, simply titled “Logan”. Like most fanmade short films, the payoff is at the end. Starring Kola Krauze (“Wallander”, “Solsidan”), Tobias Nilsson and Deepak Tara. Visual effects by Martin Kupski (“Hellboy 2″, “Ninja Assassin”). Music composed by S. Peace Nistades (“Dark Woods”, “Dragon Age: Redemption”). Check out the “Logan” Official Site.
