The script for Efrain was based on Alex George Pickering's unproduced feature Young Goodman Bloom, which made the 2009 Academy Nicholl Fellowship quarterfinals.
The film was produced through the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts Masters program, with John Watson serving as head faculty advisor.
Efrain has been featured in over 40 international film festivals.
