It took a minute for audiences to catch on to Bill Murray when he replaced Chevy Chase on Saturday Night Live. But after a few months, Murray finally broke through thanks to his old Second City characters like Nick the Lounge Singer.

Nick’s trashy covers of popular songs like “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” and “That’s the Way I Like It” sent up Vegas’ worst, a parody of the cheesiest kind of entertainer. “Billy’s performance was so over-the-top,” remembered Paul Shaffer in SNL oral history Live From New York. “I never knew what his criteria were (for choosing songs), but whatever he wanted to do was just right.”
Fast-forward nearly 50 years, and parody has become reality. Bill Murray and His Blood Brothers, a dad-rock cover band, just launched a U.S. mini-tour, according to Consequence. The tour kicked off in Chicago last week,...

Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing off a screenplay he wrote with Ellen Shanman. The story, though under wraps, will feature a new generation of pilots, according to Thurber. The live-action take of the anime TV series is being produced by Todd Lieberman via Hidden Pictures, Bob Koplar, Thurber and Hobie Films’ David Hoberman.
Baptista recently wrapped shooting David Lowery’s Mother Mary opposite Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel for A24. She can most recently be seen in Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, opposite Lesley Manville and Isabelle Huppert for Focus Features. Bryan Ferry has been making mischief for more than 50 years, on the margins of the rock world. But he’s still not done. He began as the singer/peacock/visionary of Roxy Music, but he started making his own solo records almost as soon as the band began. Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023, out Friday, is a five-disc journey through his solo career, with hits, rarities, outtakes, and B sides. It ends with an excellent new song, “Star,” a collaboration with singer-writer-painter Amelia Barratt and Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

It’s a good time to be a Sofia Coppola fan. Alongside last fall’s release of one of her finest films, Priscilla, we got an expansive book detailing her career. Now we have two new updates related to other peaks of the director’s career.
First up, a New Yorker profile has revealed that a documentary on the making of her 2006 feature Marie Antoinette is in the works. Sofia Coppola’s mother Eleanor Coppola shot behind-the-scenes footage from the production, as she did for her husband Francis Ford Coppola’s films, most notably resulting in the documentary feature Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse. For Marie Antoinette, she captured around 80 hours, and both mother and daughter are now in the editing process. Here’s hoping it arrives by the film’s 20th anniversary.
For something that will arrive a bit sooner, a deluxe double vinyl LP of the Lost in Translation...

Christmas comes early this year, as “Journey to Bethlehem” puts words (and music) in the mouths of all who bore witness to Jesus’ birth. Some of those tunes — like “Silent Night” and “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” — will sound familiar enough, though most of the songs — like most of the script — represents a fresh interpretation of believers’ original miracle, courtesy of Adam Anders, making a competent, if undistinguished directorial debut with the least edgy retelling of the nativity story around (which is essentially what the faith-based audience has been asking for).
One half of the duo behind the music for “Glee,” Swedish-born Anders comes to the project after more than two decades of penning and producing songs for boy bands and Disney Channel artists, including the Backstreet Boys (“More Than This”), Nick Lachey and the Jonas Brothers. He was instrumental in the soundtracks of big-screen musicals “Rock of Ages” and “The Prom,...

Rian Johnson's Knives Out soundtrack is just one of the many elements that goes into making it a modern whodunit classic. The movie has a fantastic score to set the mood for the mystery, but it also includes a few songs in certain scenes throughout the film. Starring Daniel Craig as famed detective, Benoit Blanc, Knives Out is Johnson's homage to the classic murder mystery, pulling inspiration from Agatha Christie to Clue and everything in between. The Knives Out soundtrack highlights how Rian Johnson was willing to pay homage to the typical genre feel while bringing his own style into it.
With Knives Out, Johnson found a new way to approach the murder mystery genre, kicking off a franchise with Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and confirmation of Knives Out 3 on the way. For the film's score, Johnson enlists his go-to composer and actual cousin, Nathan Johnson,...

On the final night of their first American tour in over two decades, art rock pioneers Roxy Music started at the beginning. They appeared on stage at The Forum in Los Angeles and launched straight into “Re-Make/Re-Model”, the eclectic, experimental song that opened their self-titled debut album in 1972. Behind them, towering screens showed the band as they looked soon after forming in London a year earlier, in all their youthful glam glory: Rakish frontman Bryan Ferry in tiger print, with cheekbones that could cut glass. Synthesizer wizard Brian Eno with his long blonde mullet, looking like Riff-Raff in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
This reunion tour, which arrives in the UK for Glasgow, Manchester and London shows in October, is timed to mark the 50th anniversary of that first Roxy record. While Eno is not present, having moved on to his own projects as early as 1973, the intervening half-century...

Trying to learn an instrument from scratch can be intimidating and painfully exhausting, especially if you’re worried about finding the right tutor and practicing daily. Whether it’s piano, guitar or violin, you might spend weeks just learning the first few notes, keys or cords, without ever being able to play an actual song.
Luckily for you, there’s a new guitar learning software in town, and it’ll let you play songs right from the get-go — no, seriously. We got our hands on Ubisoft’s Rocksmith+ and spent...

You get one second to start and can continue adding seconds to the clip until you get it.
If you know the beginnings of songs, this should be easy! That's why we put together a cheat sheet of the opening lyrics to all of One Direction's songs. However, bear in mind that not every song's opening will have lyrics, so you really have to know those intro notes.
The list below contains all of the songs from One Direction's discography - from "Up All Night" to "Made in the A.
