Amazon MGM Studios’ giant robot movie Voltron is getting bigger with the addition of Alba Baptista, Samson Kayo and Tharanya Tharan to the cast.

They join previously announced Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Henry Cavill, Rita Ora and John Kim.

Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing off a screenplay he wrote with Ellen Shanman. The story, though under wraps, will feature a new generation of pilots, according to Thurber. The live-action take of the anime TV series is being produced by Todd Lieberman via Hidden Pictures, Bob Koplar, Thurber and Hobie Films’ David Hoberman.

Alba Baptista, Samson Kayo and Tharanya Tharan are set to star in “Voltron” for Amazon MGM Studios, alongside previously announced stars Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Henry Cavill, Rita Ora, and John Kim, The Wrap has exclusively learned.

Rawson Marshall Thurber, who directed “Red Notice” for Netflix, will direct the “Voltron” film and wrote the script with Ellen Shanman based on the popular ’80s anime series. Plot details are being kept under wraps.

Thurber previously shared a video message with Voltron fans during VoltCon in which he said: “I want to make sure that we stay true to the heart and the spirit of Voltron. In this film, we’re going to be introducing an entirely new generation of pilots. We’ve reimagined Voltron for the live-action world, but we’re going to stay true to…those iconic elements that you love, that I love. And I’m so excited to share it with you.

He began as the singer/peacock/visionary of Roxy Music, but he started making his own solo records almost as soon as the band began. Because of the invention of devices like the Kindle, keeping up with the most anticipated upcoming novel titles is easier than ever. The coming-of-age genre is continuously soaring in popularity, especially in recent years. This is mainly because streaming services like Netflix are recreating these stories for the big screen, and in 2024, there are several movie and TV show book adaptations that are due for release.

First up, a New Yorker profile has revealed that a documentary on the making of her 2006 feature Marie Antoinette is in the works. Sofia Coppola’s mother Eleanor Coppola shot behind-the-scenes footage from the production, as she did for her husband Francis Ford Coppola’s films, most notably resulting in the documentary feature Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse. For Marie Antoinette, she captured around 80 hours, and both mother and daughter are now in the editing process. Here’s hoping it arrives by the film’s 20th anniversary.
