As this is a DnD role-playing game, all of Thomas Sanders and Terrence Williams Jr.'s lines as Roman and Youngblood are improvised as they progress through the story designed by AJ, Davi and Brei. They genuinely have no idea of how the story has been written and all their actions and reactions when they're sitting at the table are genuine. Further scenes featuring the characters reenacting some moments of the game are filmed after the game session is over.
Unlike other of Thomas Sanders' previous shows, episodes are filmed in bulk, several episodes at once, as many as each game session allows. This was made possible thanks to the team's expanded budget thanks to the help from Patrons from Patreon, which allowed to hire a full professional team in 2021.
Preproduction of this show started back in October 2019, when all that was announced was that it was a spin-off starring Roman, from Sanders Sides and that Cam Foote would be in charge of writing. Not much was known from the project in the following months other than Cam was still working on the writing.
Around April 2020, roughly at the start of the Covid pandemic, Cam Foote left the Foster Dawg team. So the project changed hands to AJ Hentges, who, starting from scratch, took the task of writing, assisted by Davi Decandia. When Brei Grace joined the team mid 2021, she also joined the project designing art, collaborating in the writing, and eventually even joining the cast, voicing the character of Lyra, a co-dungeon master alongside AJ.
When the show was finally premiered, Davi had left the team, but his collaborations on the writing are still credited, though he has stated that his work was limited to assist AJ with ideas about the show whenever AJ asked for help.
As for season 2, which started in September 2023, AJ had left the show, being replaced by Gabriel Hicks as DM onscreen and by Brei as sole writer and show-runner of the show thereafter.

This series is divided in seasons, each season contains several chapters and each chapter is divided in several episodes. Each episode is an individual release of the show. For instance, chapter 1 from season 1 is divided in 3 episodes.
However, the count of episodes shown onscreen each entry is all independent of seasons and chapters and goes on without restarts in the numeration, and the same happens with chapters in relation to seasons, that is, season 2 started with chapter number 4, episode number 10, which are the totals starting from chapter 1, episode 1 of season 1.

While most of the series is filmed in Atlanta or Orlando, Brei Grace lives in another far away location and records her part separately from the others. On-screen actors hear her words through a video-call phone next to them which also lets Brei see whatever is happening in the game live so she can react when called by AJ or whenever she wants. Later in post-production, the sound from the phone call is replaced by Brei's recorded audio with the appropriate sound effects required by her characters. This changed in the production of season 2, where Brei actually traveled to Orlando to be physically present during filming as the new show-runner of the series.
