A Smith called Pete narrates the tales of disaster undergone by Dave O'Brien caused by.... did you guess it? Yes, useless gifts. Few of them are really, because this is an opportunity to do visual gags, some of them very funny. Pete Smith's narration, as per usual, is amusing.
Smith had been narrating and producing shorts for MGM for more than twenty years by this point. Metro, however, was shutting down its shorts department, and Smith would only make four more, the last three months later, praising O'Brien. No one needed to praise Smith. He had picked up more than 400 screen credits, 16 Academy Award nominations and 3 Oscars.
