I enjoy the premise of the show. I love Survivor and Big Brother, and this is like Survivor without the social dynamics of having to vote off people...so basically just the challenges (some Survivor fans hate the challenges part, but I don't). The way each challenge has it's own reward and each person is playing for their own charity but as part of a team kinda reminds me of Tough as Nails, which I enjoy as well. I also like the idea of celebrities out of their elements (I watch DWTS, too...I watch too many competition shows, haha). So this had a lot of promise for me. It's pretty cheesy, as I have come to expect after watching Celebrity Big Brother. But the one thing that was BY FAR the worst part of the show was the host, who is some WWE/boxing announcer guy. His overly-dramatic, harsh voice and manner of speaking, not just in announcing but during normal conversations with the competitors was so unnaturally jarring and unpleasant that I wanted to turn it off. The editing is also dumb, with dramatic slow-motion moments during challenges intended to make what they're doing (rowing, crawling through mud) look even more grueling. The final "tribal council" type event (no voting, just campfire share-your-feelings, waiting to see if someone rings the bell to leave) was also just super dramatic with crying and life struggle stories that may be genuine but came across to me as emotionally manipulative since the conversation doesn't seem natural or organic and is being led by the harsh and robotic host guy. There is also a ton of misdirection in the editing and ominous musical scoring to try to draw out the drama of will-they/won't-they ring the bell. It was all just too over the top. But I could deal with that and probably enjoy the show if they would just get rid of that awful host. If I stop watching (which is definitely a distinct possibility, but I'll give it another week or two), it will be because of him.

If it wasn't for this Host, it would be a pretty good show. He is absolutely horrible! He's as fake as his hair. I can't stand to hear him talk. I have to mute the TV....it's that bad. Change the host to someone that people will like and maybe this show will make it.

Beautiful scenery and sincere players make this a worthwhile watch, although the super model is annoying and the host is over the top. Staying with it to see where the journey goes.
I'm a fan of Survivor and have watched every episode, and expected this show to be similar. It is not. It's very watered down and overly dramatic. Plus everything looks somewhat scripted. The worst part for me is the host. He has a weird "announcer" way of talking, not just narrating, but also when he is addressing the contestants. It really takes away from the show. My wife and I could not get through an episode. Terrible, boring, annoying show.

I really enjoyed watching this. Reality Entertainment without the backbiting.
There were really some inspiring contestants on the show together like to think about.

I LOVE this show but the host doesn't fit. It's great to see a different side of the contestants. To see the human connection. The hosting style is so cold and disconnected. I don't mind the hands off approach to hosting the show but there's absolutely no emotional connection palpable when interacting with the contestants.

Meta was on Big Brother a few seasons ago and quit! Now he's on this show and he's already talking about quitting in the first episode. Why does he bother "competing" when he is a quitter? Plus he's lazy, he didn't even paddle the raft in the competition. I probably won't continue watching CBS shows that promote this kind of behavior, especially in a competition show. Meta World POS doesn't belong on TV.

I see a lot of people dogging the show because of the celebs "whining". I bet the people saying that have never even been camping much less been left alone I. The Panama jungle. People judge too soon. What these celebrities are going through is CRAZY and scary so I give them mad props for doing it to help their charities. Also people calling them "B list" is a bunch of crap. Just because YOU might not know them doesn't make them any less important or loved by many. This show is VERY entertaining and fun to watch. I'm proud of all of them who have stuck with it and tried their best. The challenges are brutal. 🙌🏼 PS I'm rooting for you Jodie!!! You got this!!!!

I quit watching after the first episode. The host is so annoying I couldn't stand to watch another episode. Where did they find this guy. Might be OK with a different host.

I love this show. I love the insights these people share and how deep it gets. I love the competitions and enjoy the praying and morals of this. Thank you for having a good show on that the whole family can watch.

Who in the hell picked this guy as a host? With his dyed black hair and that rediculous voice. The show could be alright if they could find a normal host. But I won't watch the show as long as this guy is the host.

Who are these people and more so am I supposed to care? Terrible host, super cheesy Survivor knock off. Good for charity that is all I can say that is positive.
I found the people all having drama in their lives being sapy and the show plays on theiir weaknesses. I don't find it inspiring but painful.

If you like Survivor, you will enjoy this, especially if you are a child of the 80's and 90's. It's awesome watching these celebrities stick it out in pretty rough conditions to give money to a charity! I Do love anything reality and survival!

Rather than "Beyond the Edge", a more accurate title would be "B List Celebrities Whining." The only reason I gave it two stars is that Mike Singletary and Paulina Porizkova deserve better than to be stuck with a bunch of whiners you never heard of. Metta World Peace? What a wus. Jodie Sweetin? She could roll her ankle going to the bathroom, and then moan about it all day. The rest are mostly Country Music "Stars" you never heard of, and Ray Lewis WHO KILLED A GUY in 2000. Actually Ray seems pretty level headed compared to most of these losers but he may kill somebody else....
The host, another guy you never heard of, makes Jeff Probst look like Don Pardo. WTF.
I think I will do my taxes rather than watch next week. It will be more enjoyable.
I am pretty sure Netflix passed on this show.

This show has heart and it is entertaining. The fact that people have given this show a low rating sadly confirms that so many people actually prefer watching ugly competition, drama, and violence rather than see the beautiful side of humanity.
In a time where our country and the world are so divided and full of hatred, these nine people from all different backgrounds came together to become a beautiful family, authentic and loving. I loved getting to see the human side to all of them and have become a huge admirer of all of them!
Also, I have spent time in Bocas del Toro, and it is an extremely harsh environment. I have mad respect for these people!

Survivor with none of the positives sums it up for me. Where to start? The announcer. The show is supposed to be gritty and raw, and showing celebrities (or semi-celebrities) getting down and dirty and real. So you get some guy that sounds like he is spoofing a 1980s pro wrestling announcer, and drop him in the jungle? Naw. There does not seem t be any clear motivation for people. Hang out. Meta World Peace bailed on Big Brother and...guess what? I really love both Singletary and Lewis--but right away you can tell you are going to get a *lot* of *pep talks* for both, and more than needed.

If you're a fan of Survivor, you'll love this! Super entertaining and it's fun to see famous people's dynamics. Love the plot and the fact that they raise mo ey for charity. Great concept!

OK, love watching celebs go through crap to recreate that 5 minutes of fame. That said.....they are really paying the price on this show.
It's not hard to see the sacrifices, the pain and the struggles (though at least one, walked out looking fake in her health issue).
I would have given this show a straighout 8 just on all that's good and tried to come up with ways to increase that rating.
Mauro, sucks at hosting this. It's a mishmash of trying to be Jeff Probst but sounding like Howard Cosell and looking an awful lot like Larry King. The cliches that keep coming out of his mouth make me want to mute the show when he's on, as does his parting line at the end of each episode. I will end with just that.
Keep fighting the good fight, but do it by finding a new host if you survive long enough to make it to season 2.

We need a new category of celebrities who clearly are not known, and have no work coming. I recognized just Meta and Jodie.
ABC did this show in the early 2000's, called "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here." This is the exact same show with a different host. CBS, was at a time, planning Celebrity Survivor. Minus Probst and minus celebrities, voila, you have that show!

You may not know the contestants (even though they're all very accomplished) and yes, i agree with the many that the host was WAY over the top in the first few episodes, but stick with it, it gets better, and even, great!
We all know about survivor challenges, but these ones are BRUTAL with LOTS of REAL physical risks in swampy rivers, jungle, cliffs, and more.
These people really competed and bonded, very nice to see,
i think they need to up the money SUBSTANTIALLY... these celebs themselves could donate the amounts given without even noticing.
Anyway, very much enjoyed it, once i got over the over the top host for the first few episodes.

Great just what the world needs, another bunch of whinny americans trying to compete against each other, and the fake people on it, meta world peace, hahahaahaha, what a stupid name, as if anyone would be stupid enough to call their kid that, stupid show.
I've watched almost every season of Survivor. With that said, I am a huge fan. However, I hope they keep this show going. It is for a good cause, there is not dirty game play, it's children safe, and the challenges far surpass anything Survivor has to offer. This is a tough game and a great show. Can't wait for Season 2!
Tbh I have solely been watching show because Colton is in it. He's easily the best part of the show. As a longtime survivor fan. The show is extremely disappointing. It's like if you take survivor minus all of the steaks and then just ask rich people to come camp and then every day say anybody want to go home?.... That's literally it they just choose how long they wanna be there and they're rewarded for... camping. The hosts voice is extremely cheesy. And the production value is very low. Just do a NON D list unknown "celebrity" season of survivor. It's honestly really bad. But Colton is still hot so...
My life must be so boring to watch this dreck. Previous reviewers were correct. Sooooo much whining. The host is dreadful and annoying. Oh no i need more characters. This show sucks. This show sucks. This show sucks.
