James Purefoy (“King Randor”) and Charlotte Riley (“Queen Marlena”) have been cast in the upcoming live-action feature film “Masters of the Universe,” based on the iconic Mattel franchise, Amazon MGM and Mattel announced on Tuesday.

Both will star alongside the already announced Nicholas Galitzine (“He-Man”), Camila Mendes (“Teela”), Morena Baccarin (“The Sorceress”), Alison Brie (“Evil-Lyn”), Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (“Malcolm/Fisto”), Jared Leto (“Skeletor”), Idris Elba (“Duncan/Man-at-Arms”), Sam C. Wilson (“Trap Jaw”), Hafthor Bjornsson (“Goat Man”) and Kojo Attah (“Tri-Klops”).

Travis Knight is directing the film from a screenplay by Chris Butler. Plot details are being kept under wraps for the film, which will be released exclusively in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026. The movie will be produced by Escape Artists and Mattel Films.

Travis Knight (Bumblebee) will direct from a script by Chris Butler (ParaNorman), reworked from earlier drafts by David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Aaron & Adam Nee (The Lost City).

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the movie is expected to follow a young man who discovers his secret legacy as the prince of an alien planet. He must recover a magic sword and return home to protect his kingdom.

A new anime adaptation is in the works, and this time, it’s for All You Need Is Kill. The news comes from DanielRPK, a well-known industry insider, who shared the leaked information on his Patreon.

All You Need Is Kill started as a Japanese light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, telling the story of Keiji Kiriya, a soldier caught in a time loop, forced to relive the same battle over and over again.

Each reset allows him to improve his skills, bringing him closer to defeating the alien invaders known as Mimics.

This gripping concept was brought to Hollywood in 2014 with Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.

While the film had a decent box office run, earning just over $100 million domestically, it didn’t explode in popularity at the time.

The sci-fi genre is an incredibly broad one, but despite this fact, it seems that many of its films seem to cover the same topics over and over again. For every unique sci-fi movie, there is another that follows the same tired tropes that can be found throughout the genre. These include first contact films and near-future space mission movies, both of which have seen countless installments over the years.

Although films that fit into these tropes can often be very good, sometimes viewers need a unique movie that either strays from these conventions entirely or puts a fresh spin on them. Many long-running sci-fi TV shows manage to stay fresh by doing this, changing or building upon the parts of the genre in which they find their niche. There are many sci-fi movies set to release in 2025, and with any luck they will also have their own unique formulas as well.

Of the many films that Tom Cruise has filmed over the years in Hollywood, the Stanley Kubrick thriller Eyes Wide Shut has to be one of the weirdest experiences of his life. Despite the subject matter and the plot of the movie, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman left an indelible mark with the 1999 film that also proved to be the final masterpiece of Kubrick’s lifetime. The film’s box office loss was $13 million. It boasted an excellent lineup, including Daisy Ridley, who played Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and Tom Holland. Doug Liman, known for hit films like The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow, directed the cast, which includes renowned actors such as Mads Mikkelsen, Nick Jonas, and Cynthia Erivo.

“Chaos Walking” takes place in a dystopian world in which all women have inexplicably disappeared. The remaining guys are affected by “the Noise,” a condition in which their thoughts are revealed to others. The story revolves around Todd, who meets Viola, a girl whose presence produces an amazing stillness in this noisy world.

In 2021, Daisy Ridley starred in Chaos Walking, a sci-fi action movie with a premise so good that it should have been a massive hit, but ended up being panned by critics. Back in 2015, Ridley got her breakout role as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. For three films, Ridley led the iconic sci-fi franchise through some incredible highs and disappointing lows. In this way, Ridley has come face to face with world-shattering success and devastating critique. However, as it turns out, Star Wars is not the only sci-fi epic Ridley has seen torn apart by viewers.

There are a number of reasons why Chaos Walking should have been a success. First and foremost, the cast was truly outstanding. Alongside Ridley, Chaos Walking starred Tom Holland, Mads Mikkelsen, Nick Jonas, and Cynthia Erivo. On top of that, the movie was directed by Doug Liman, who saw previous success with films like Mr. and Mrs.

Liman shared the news with Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman at a recent NYC screening of the documentary Gaucho Gaucho, expressing his interest in crafting a “scary” movie at this stage of his career. “I have never done one,” said the director, “and neither has Tom.”

While reports have suggested that Deeper may be Liman’s next project, whether that’s actually the case is not yet clear. Sources have confirmed to Deadline that the film is currently set up at Warner Bros.

The Agency, based on the French series Le Bureau des Legendes, is a solid showcase of deliberate and complex tension done right. With a masterful cast led by Michael Fassbender and Jodie Turner-Smith, The Agency certainly showcases some intense action. Still, it thrives on solid performances from the rock-solid ensemble of acting talent.

Back in the day, you could just throw any old bullshit into the end credits of a movie. In fact, filmmakers were fond of splicing the funniest bad takes into the infinite scroll, because why not? It was just some noise to play while people filed out of the theater. Now, we’re all used to hanging around for the post-credits scene, so we pay more attention, and it turns out some end credit choices are completely unhinged.
