While you may know Edge of Tomorrow, the science-fiction film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, the story was first a light novel called All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. It’s incredibly rare for a Japanese light novel to first receive a live-action before an anime adaptation.

Edge of Tomorrow was hailed as one of the most innovative science-fiction films in the 2010s. It deserves the title, but the credit for its storyline goes to Sakurazaka’s All You Need Is Kill. Without the author’s masterful storytelling, we wouldn’t have Major William Cage in the first place.

A new anime adaptation is in the works, and this time, it’s for All You Need Is Kill. The news comes from DanielRPK, a well-known industry insider, who shared the leaked information on his Patreon.
All You Need Is Kill started as a Japanese light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, telling the story of Keiji Kiriya, a soldier caught in a time loop, forced to relive the same battle over and over again.
Each reset allows him to improve his skills, bringing him closer to defeating the alien invaders known as Mimics.
This gripping concept was brought to Hollywood in 2014 with Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
While the film had a decent box office run, earning just over $100 million domestically, it didn’t explode in popularity at the time.
However, in the years since its release, the movie has gained a cult following, with many considering...

It has been 12 years since Henry Cavill first debuted as the Man of Steel but the fans loyal to Zack Snyder and his grimdark vision of the DC universe have still been unable to move past the actor’s version of Superman. Those faithful to Cavill, in the meanwhile, have taken his entire career into account and not only rendered him the best Superman but also one of the best actors working in Hollywood right now.

The recently leaked audition tape of the actor as James Bond has further fanned the flames of mass discord as fans cannot reconcile with the fact that Cavill was twice rejected from the role that he seems to be tailor-made for. The lost 007 role combined with his ill-fated arc as Superman and the much-beloved Witcher has thrown the fans into a spiral of confusion and blame.

Movie trailers don't always do a great job showing off the films they're meant to advertise, with many brilliant movies being hamstrung by terrible trailers that betray their actual quality. The best movie trailers are able to drum up excitement and intrigue for their films without giving away too much of the plot. Sadly, in some cases, a trailer can actually hurt the public perception of a film, leading to many audiences not giving a chance to a genuinely great movie thanks to a lackluster trailer.
There are several big mistakes some trailers make when it comes to advertising. A trailer can sometimes give away far too much information regarding the story of the film in it's advertising, essentially ruining the movie experience, while others misconstrue the genre or tone of a film in an attempt to "trick" audiences into seeing it, not adequately portraying the intended story. Even if...

Did Tom Cruise take things a tad too far on the Edge Of Tomorrow set? ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )
Back in 2014, during the filming of the sci-fi blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow, Cruise gave Emily Blunt some unconventional motivation. The scene was a teary Blunt. The problem was a crushingly heavy 85-pound suit. And Cruise had a choice response.
“He just stared at me for a long time,” Blunt shared on the SmartLess podcast. She’d told him, “Tom, I’m not sure how I’m going to get through this shoot.” Tom Cruise’s iconic reply? “Come on, stop being such a p***y, Ok?”
Edge of Tomorrow wasn’t just about fighting aliens or time loops. It was also a battle against some truly unforgiving props. Blunt and Cruise suited up in 85-pound combat gear, because who needs CGI when you can have borderline torture?

Director Doug Liman has surprisingly revealed that his 2017 action comedy film American Made starring Tom Cruise was intentionally fashioned to make the audience feel some sort of semblance with 1986’s Top Gun. Well, in both films, Cruise portrays a pilot – a type of role that has become synonymous with the actor.

Of course, if a filmmaker casts Cruise in the same part that made him worldwide famous, people are going to make comparisons, something that Liman actually expected. In a sense, then, American Made would not exist if Top Gun never happened.

Tom Cruise pleasantly surprised the entire film industry in the summer of 2023 when he promoted Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, the latter’s magnum opus that would derail Cruise’s own Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One the very next weekend. This rivalry extended to reserving all the premium IMAX screens for Nolan’s film, a move some might equate with the life-threatening stunts the Ethan Hunt actor is famous for. However, assuming the persona of a true movie star, the Top Gun actor has long been an advocate for films beyond his own, predating his endorsement of the Cillian Murphy–Robert Downey Jr. starrer.
The incident ties back to Cruise’s consistent efforts to fill theater seats and save the cinema industry post-covid-19, a dedication publicly acknowledged by Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg, who credited Cruise for “saving the...

Edge of Tomorrow is one of the most unique science-fiction films in the modern era, earning its title as one of the best in its genre. Directed by Doug Liman and starring Tom Cruise, it nailed the time loop concept and was filled with exhilarating action that captivated its audience.
What’s less known about the film, however, is that it’s actually loosely based on All You Need Is Kill, a Japanese light novel written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Its protagonist, Keiji Kiriya, inspired the creation of William Cage, the protagonist of Edge of Tomorrow.

The sci-fi genre is an incredibly broad one, but despite this fact, it seems that many of its films seem to cover the same topics over and over again. For every unique sci-fi movie, there is another that follows the same tired tropes that can be found throughout the genre. These include first contact films and near-future space mission movies, both of which have seen countless installments over the years.
Although films that fit into these tropes can often be very good, sometimes viewers need a unique movie that either strays from these conventions entirely or puts a fresh spin on them. Many long-running sci-fi TV shows manage to stay fresh by doing this, changing or building upon the parts of the genre in which they find their niche. There are many sci-fi movies set to release in 2025, and with any luck they will also have their own unique formulas as well.

Of the many films that Tom Cruise has filmed over the years in Hollywood, the Stanley Kubrick thriller Eyes Wide Shut has to be one of the weirdest experiences of his life. Considering it’s Cruise we are talking about, the poster boy of action films, the wildly erotic thriller did not fall under his usual foray into artsy blockbusters.

Despite the subject matter and the plot of the movie, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman left an indelible mark with the 1999 film that also proved to be the final masterpiece of Kubrick’s lifetime. The creative endeavor that connected Cruise, Kidman, and Kubrick in a once-in-a-lifetime experience, however, also went against everything that the action star would go on to represent some time into the future.

In the competitive world of science fiction cinema, a gripping premise does not always result in success. This was shown in the 2021 film Chaos Walking, which, despite its novel premise and star-studded ensemble, failed to captivate fans and critics.
The film’s box office loss was $13 million. It boasted an excellent lineup, including Daisy Ridley, who played Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and Tom Holland. Doug Liman, known for hit films like The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow, directed the cast, which includes renowned actors such as Mads Mikkelsen, Nick Jonas, and Cynthia Erivo.
“Chaos Walking” takes place in a dystopian world in which all women have inexplicably disappeared. The remaining guys are affected by “the Noise,” a condition in which their thoughts are revealed to others. The story revolves around Todd, who meets Viola, a girl whose presence produces an amazing stillness in this noisy world.

In 2021, Daisy Ridley starred in Chaos Walking, a sci-fi action movie with a premise so good that it should have been a massive hit, but ended up being panned by critics. Back in 2015, Ridley got her breakout role as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. For three films, Ridley led the iconic sci-fi franchise through some incredible highs and disappointing lows. In this way, Ridley has come face to face with world-shattering success and devastating critique. However, as it turns out, Star Wars is not the only sci-fi epic Ridley has seen torn apart by viewers.
There are a number of reasons why Chaos Walking should have been a success. First and foremost, the cast was truly outstanding. Alongside Ridley, Chaos Walking starred Tom Holland, Mads Mikkelsen, Nick Jonas, and Cynthia Erivo. On top of that, the movie was directed by Doug Liman, who saw previous success with films like Mr. and Mrs.

Emily Blunt has been considered at the top of her craft for almost two decades, so it's not surprising that the lauded actress would have a high net worth. The British star broke out in Hollywood in 2006, playing ice-cold assistant Emily Charlton in The Devil Wears Prada, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Blunt found herself at the top of the A-list, and the 2010s saw her starring in several sci-fi films, including The Adjustment Bureau and Edge of Tomorrow. In 2023, Blunt received her first Oscar nomination for playing Kitty Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer.
Blunt was born in Wandsworth, London, England to parents Joanna and Oliver, and is the second of four children. She was discovered by an agent while performing at a school play at the Edinburgh Festival, and has been acting on camera since 2003. Offscreen, Blunt was in a relationship with Canadian crooner Michael Bublé...

Tom Cruise is perhaps the most well-known movie star on the planet, and he's widely known for his work in the action genre. Cruise's role as Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible franchise, in particular, has seen him participating in shootouts, car chases, motorcycle chases, and foot chases, all involving stunt work. Cruise, however, is also an action star outside his work in Mission: Impossible.
Cruise recently appeared in Oblivion (2013) and Edge of Tomorrow (2014), both action movies with sci-fi twists. He also took on action with a rom-com element in Knight and Day (2010). Cruise's roles in Top Gun: Maverick and as Jack Reacher are also both action-oriented. It was in 2004, however, that Cruise played one of his most memorable characters, showing off a new side of himself in an intense crime thriller that features a handful of realistic shootouts.

In an exciting development, Steven Spielberg is set to direct a film adaptation of John Scalzi’s ‘Old Man’s War’, a sci-fi series that explores the rejuvenating prospects of warfare.
The film, like the book, introduces us to John Perry, a 75-year-old who, after the deaths of his wife and best friend, enlists in a futuristic military.
Perry’s mind is transferred into a young, genetically enhanced body, plunging him back into the prime of youth with a chance to fight anew.
The twist in this interstellar battle saga comes when Perry encounters a younger version of his wife on the battlefield.
However, it’s her appearance with a different consciousness. This sets the stage for an emotional rollercoaster, combining the thrill of cosmic wars with the pain and complexity of lost love.

Tom Cruise is attached to star in Deeper, a supernatural thriller that Doug Liman has in early development, the filmmaker has revealed.
Liman shared the news with Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman at a recent NYC screening of the documentary Gaucho Gaucho, expressing his interest in crafting a “scary” movie at this stage of his career. “I have never done one,” said the director, “and neither has Tom.”
While reports have suggested that Deeper may be Liman’s next project, whether that’s actually the case is not yet clear. Sources have confirmed to Deadline that the film is currently set up at Warner Bros.
Deeper follows an astronaut who encounters a terrifying force while on a deep dive into a never-before-explored trench. In development for almost a decade, the project was originally set up at MGM in April 2016, following the studio’s acquisition of a hot spec from Max Landis.

About nine years ago, a supernatural thriller script called Deeper, written by Max Landis, was the subject of a bidding war that MGM ended up winning. They forked over a seven figure amount. At the time, the project had Bradley Cooper on board to play the lead character and Kornel Mundruczo (White God) was set to direct it. In 2017, Gal Gadot entered negotiations to join Cooper in the cast. But the deal was never closed with Gadot, Cooper had to drop out due to scheduling issues, and Mundruczo followed him out the door. Baltasar Kormakur (2 Guns) was then hired to direct the film, and in 2019, Idris Elba stepped up to replace Cooper in the lead. The project was shelved in response to allegations that Landis had emotionally and/or physically abused multiple women, so Kormakur and Elba went off and made Beast together instead. But now, Deeper is being revived,...

Director Doug Liman says he’s making Deeper, a ‘scary’ undersea supernatural thriller, with Tom Cruise as its star.
Director Doug Liman and Tom Cruise have long planned to work together again after collaborating on Edge Of Tomorrow and American Made. And according to a new report, that is still set to happen – just not in the guise we expected. When thinking about a Liman/Cruise collaboration at Warner Bros, a sequel to 2014’s Edge Of Tomorrow might spring to mind – but no, it seems like the duo could be cooking up something different.
Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman (via World of Reel) quotes Doug Liman as saying that his next film will be Deeper, starring Tom Cruise. It’s a project that Warner Bros has reportedly been trying to get off the ground for a decade under the stewardship of several different filmmakers.

Review: While you may love a good action spy movie, give me a mature, calculated drama about espionage any day. While there is a time and a place for James Bond, Ethan Hunt, or Jason Bourne, the psychological intensity of a well-crafted thriller does not come along every day. The Agency, based on the French series Le Bureau des Legendes, is a solid showcase of deliberate and complex tension done right. With a masterful cast led by Michael Fassbender and Jodie Turner-Smith, The Agency certainly showcases some intense action. Still, it thrives on solid performances from the rock-solid ensemble of acting talent.

Back in the day, you could just throw any old bullshit into the end credits of a movie. In fact, filmmakers were fond of splicing the funniest bad takes into the infinite scroll, because why not? It was just some noise to play while people filed out of the theater. Now, we’re all used to hanging around for the post-credits scene, so we pay more attention, and it turns out some end credit choices are completely unhinged.
“So I watched Edge of Tomorrow yesterday for the first time,” Redditor TheAlmightyTapir told r/Movies, “and it was a good action/sci-fi movie. I liked it. And the ending was nice right up until the credits kicked in with, ‘Iiiiiiiiii Need To Knoooooow Now!’ It was incredibly jarring, and it got me thinking if there are any other movies out with an incredibly poor/random choice of music in the end credits.

Conventional spy-drama wisdom has us believe that fictional covert operatives are malleable masters of improvisation who are tough to corral. Correspondingly, their most effective handlers exhibit sympathy and understanding mixed with a no-nonsense willingness to make tough calls. In Paramount+ With Showtime’s upcoming The Agency, that blend of warmth and gravitas comes in the form of the CIA’s London Station deputy station chief Henry Ogletree, played by Jeffrey Wright.
