Demon Slayer has shattered yet another record ahead of its highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle premiere this summer. Last weekend, the 2020 Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Tsuzumi Mansion Arc was re-released in theaters, topping 2024 and 2025 box office records.
Per Box Office Mojo, last weekend (April 19-20), Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Tsuzumi Mansion Arc opened in theaters in Japan with a massive US$27.8 million opening, claiming the highest-grossing box office weekend of 2025 so far. It outpaced Cells at Work!, which previously held the top spot for the year with US$17.5 million during its New Year’s weekend debut -- a difference of over US$10 million. The film also surpassed last year’s highest opening weekend, Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, which earned US$27.1 million in 2024.
