Go to the basement. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. A sure fire advertising hit for the next breed of Mormon recruits, Heretic is a muddling, painful and quite frankly overall mess of a film. Erratic in tone and style, it starts off relatively promising but soon descends (literally) into a mish mash of schlocky, overblown religious and philosophical tropes - including the Monopoly analogy and history which I never knew. That said, Grant and the other two leads deliver excellent performances. It's just a shame the religous semi haunted house jigsaw narrative they were given to play to just wasn't up to scratch.
